To worry a lot about tiny age gap between children?

I am 40, and have recently had a baby. Obviously, if we want a sibling for him, we can’t hang about.

But I am really worried about an age gap of less than two years. It feels like it would be so relentless and demanding - one baby is time consuming enough!

Is it really that bad?!

This seems quite balanced. Shortest age gap I have seen was a woman who gave birth at 28 weeks with a 9 month old. She sat by the baby's incubator breast feeding the 9 month old. She was imcredibly chilled

My 3 DC are 13 months and 15 months apart, in consecutive school years. I was fortunate to be at home until the youngest was 3, then negotiated a job share for a few years, so although busy, it never felt too hard to manage.

I'd say the best thing has been them being able to move through stages at more or less the same time. We've never had little ones hanging around watching older siblings, they've all been able to enjoy activities and holidays together.

With hindsight it has been the perfect age gap.

Mine are 12 months apart

Hard at first (exhausting) but easier from about 2 and 3

Much much easier after that and certainly easier than a bigger gap as they got older judging by my friends' experiences. Similar interests, great mates and played together

They are teens now and still get on well

Wish I'd had more tbh!

13 month age gap. Yes it was hectic and tiring but they are best mates now and rarely argue (both boys.)
