To think William and Kate are currently over exposed

Why do we need to keep seeing them everywhere? The more I see them trying to convey their perfect Boden lives the more I find it irritating. I think their PR people seem to have gone into overdrive

OP posts:

There is only them and Charles and Camilla. The Queen is 95 and in mourning.

Get a grip.

All I see is offensive H&M who are utterly irrelevant to this country now and should shut up.

C130 · 27/05/2021 09:35

@lollipoprainbow

Yes they are and it's all a PR stunt to pit them against M and H. The daily mail are the worst at their nasty thinly veiled articles and the comments section beggars belief!!
That is why I will not read that lowbrow rag.
misspattylacosta · 27/05/2021 09:37

They are not like celebrities you can just ignore if you dislike them, that's the point. You cannot just "not click" on articles and pretend they don't exist.

C130 · 27/05/2021 09:39

I find it easy enough to ignore them.

Peanutbuttercupisyum · 27/05/2021 09:41

But they’re the main figure heads if the British Royal Family!! It’s their job to be PRd!! If no one saw them, talked about them, saw lovely snippets of their family life, saw them out and about meeting people, then you would wonder what we’re paying for! Like it or not, they’re part of an ancient tradition, most people love them and like following them, they do some good work and their job is to be constantly in the public eye

FakeColinCaterpillar · 27/05/2021 09:47

What are they made to do, quit and talk about how hard their lives are, would that be better. They’d be really over exposed then.

I’m not a royalist but this is kinda their actual job. I’d hate to do it.

RubyViolet · 27/05/2021 09:49

The storm created around The Sussex’s has focused the lens on all the Royal Family. This is a side effect of the relentless PR from the Sussex’s media machine.
The U.K. press seem increasingly interested in everything Royal. It’s a new soap opera.

TotorosCatBus · 27/05/2021 09:52

This is going to continue through the summer with the Diana statue, royal babies (especially the Sussex dd) ...

Spidey66 · 27/05/2021 10:00

It seems to be Harry and Meghan that seem to be everywhere, not Wills and Kate.

For a couple who left the RF for more privacy, Harry and Meghan seem to love publicity.......im sick of hearing Harry whinge about his hard life.

oneglassandpuzzled · 27/05/2021 10:00

MN complains that Kate is lazy and then that she does too many engagements.

TotorosCatBus · 27/05/2021 10:00

Meghan and Catherine are supposed to be in the spotlight without overshadowing their husbands contributing to the illusion that their husbands (hence the monarchy) are great. Looking at them adoringly when they are as annoying as the average man is part of the required act. Royal fans love pics of the men looking adoringly at their wives tooZ

If you Google Prince Phillip and the Queen there are plenty of them showing affectionate smiles to each other. There's no hair flicks and smile showing lots of perfect white teeth but it suggests that they are happy as individuals sometimes.

Can’t you? Why not?

Yawn. Do not listen then, it really is not hard.
Spidey66 · 27/05/2021 10:24

@c130
Actually I do ignore it. I don't watch programmes with or about them, with the exception of the Oprah interview. I turn the page in newspapers and magazines.But when they're constantly on the news (whinging) wtf do you expect me to do? Turn over and work out when the next news item is on?

CathyorClaire · 27/05/2021 10:28

It's entirely possible to see all that and still wonder.

misspattylacosta · 27/05/2021 10:42

What do you mean why not? willingly ignoring that we have a Monarchy and the so-called role of the royals, and the use of tax payer money?!? Confused

Of course you can ignore everything in the world, but you can't pretend that the royals are just another bunch of celebrities (or if they are, what's the point of them at all anyway).

You said You cannot just "not click" on articles and pretend they don't exist. Of course you can, it’s the easiest thing in the world. I don’t click on articles about things that don’t interest me all the time.
CruCru · 27/05/2021 10:53

I do see what a PP means when she talks about the photos of Kate grinning and gazing at Wills BUT that is her job. She must always make him look good, she must always look glorious and mustn’t ever say anything stupid or embarrassing.

She must be thin enough to make her clothes look nice but never too thin. She cannot be showy or flashy but also must not wear anything too middle aged (although now she is 39 that’s getting more allowed). Her family must look good and never say or do anything embarrassing.

I couldn’t do her job.

Also, this isn’t their first tour for the last year and a half. They did a tour last year and Nicola Sturgeon said it was unhelpful to wander about the country during a pandemic.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/05/2021 10:59

I feel like the PR campaign has gone into overdrive lately

It was always going to happen once restrictions lifted and they wanted to seem relevant again; the entire RF are "over PR'd" but they'll focus on W&K because they're the best hope they've got

Pity there are no more high profile weddings or babies to flog for a while really - unless Andrew gets married again?

I'll get my coat ... Grin

LizzieW1969 · 27/05/2021 11:11

@phoenixrosehere

I know what you mean. I don’t see all that much about them on the BBC News, which I do watch a lot of, apart from following revelations about the Bashir interview with Diana (which surely you’d expect). It’s as if some posters are seeking out news about the Royals because they want to have a moan about them.

misspattylacosta · 27/05/2021 11:19

OBVIOUSLY you can pretend they don't exist. You can also be blind to the government of your country and anything that happens in the world. Hmm
Unlike celebrities, you are still paying for them.

KeflavikAirport · 27/05/2021 11:34

Lots of royals are busy at the minute - Countess of Wessex was at a children’s wheelchair basketball event in London recently and Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall were in NI last week for example.

That counts as busy now does it?

KeflavikAirport · 27/05/2021 11:39

the work they have to put in before visits

What work is that then, pray tell? Reading a two-page briefing in the car on the way there?

lynsey91 · 27/05/2021 11:44
@lynsey91you sound nice Hmm
Just sick of the Saint Kate rubbish. She should be wearing her clothes more than once when they cost so much so what is so wonderful about that?

I didn't think she looked "wow" in that coat. She is far too thin and has no real shape so such a long coat just looks awful.

UsedUpUsername · 27/05/2021 11:47

I get it. It’s annoying seeing these two splashed over the tabloids.

I’m doing my part by not clicking on the articles, would advise you to do the same 😎
