To think William and Kate are currently over exposed

Why do we need to keep seeing them everywhere? The more I see them trying to convey their perfect Boden lives the more I find it irritating. I think their PR people seem to have gone into overdrive

@Pottedpalm feisty Charlotte urgh

phoenixrosehere · 27/05/2021 08:00

How do you all hear about them so much?

I’m pretty active on social media and I don’t even hear about them as much as people here complain unless I’m on MN. I saw a small thing about Prince Harry and Oprah after Prince William and the Bashir thing, 2 weeks before that William and Kate doing YT and a month ago before that, DOS Meghan and the children’s book she released. That’s it. Even out in public and at work (work retail), I don’t hear about them unless I watch the news and again it was mainly the Bashir thing which tbh, don’t care. Of course, I see them in the tabloids, but I don’t really read such trash and eyeroll the ridiculousness of it.

OverByYer · 27/05/2021 08:01

If you’re anti monarchy just say so rather than picking apart someone’s personal character.
If there were no photos of the RF carrying out their duties everyone would complain they were lazy.
As for criticising Kate smiling looking fake well maybe it is? She probably has days where she would rather be at home making waffles but she’s out there getting on with the role she took on and makes the most of it .

phoenixrosehere · 27/05/2021 08:01

Whinging, self obsessed pair.

Funny that, I hear more from Harry than I do Meghan, but of course as I’ve learned on here, everything is usually her fault..

lollipoprainbow · 27/05/2021 08:02

If I was suffering from mental health the last person I'd want to speak to over a zoom call is a maniacal, grinning person with absolutely no grasp of what I am going through and who has the perfect life !!!

FannyCann · 27/05/2021 08:15

I think speaking to someone who would make the call all about him and his problems would be pretty grim. I've got a husband for that : "I've got a headache" cue "I slept so badly last night and I've got a headache too and my back has been playing up all week". Teaches me not to talk about my problems. LOL Wink

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 27/05/2021 08:21

William and Kate are filling their roles as working royals. That's all. I like them so don't mind seeing them.

Kate is private, so we don't know about any difficulties she may have had. I respect that. She's doing a job and obviously doesn't need to make it about herself.

If I recall correctly, there were reports that she was bullied badly at school and had to change to another one. That must have been very difficult. She's also had her own family worries with her brother's mh over the last few years.

No one has a perfect life, and I respect Kate's willingness to be professional and make sure that the focus is on the charities/people they support and not her own 'trauma'. You may not be able to relate to that, but many others will.

NameChangeNameShange · 27/05/2021 08:23

So affluent kids whose parents haven't divorced can't have issues? Whilst I wouldn't wish mental health issues on anyone, it's perfectly possible she has struggled.
And even assuming her perfect childhood offers no angst according to the press she's had three fairly horrific pregnancies and reportedly a DH who had an affair with her mate. She was vilified in the press til Meghan came and provided better clickbait. Currently going through a fairly dysfunctional family situation. And her job is literally to smile and be pleasant at all times, and if she misses a beat she'll be criticised all over the front pages - that alone would give a lot of people performance anxiety.
I don't know, she may not be your 'cup of tea' but I suspect she could relate to a few folk.

lynsey91 · 27/05/2021 08:24

I am sick of The Mail going on about Saint Kate. She wears some of her clothes more than once well big deal.

Today they reckons she "wows" in a check coat. Sorry but she doesn't. She has no shape and it looks drab and horrible

OverByYer · 27/05/2021 08:29

@lynsey91you sound nice Hmm

MichelleScarn · 27/05/2021 08:41

At least if Harry and m did a walk about we know more about who they are and what they have suffered and their truth.

This 'my/his/her/our/their truth' can people really say this with a straight face? It literally sounds to me like someone is admitting- -it's not what happened, but here's what l want you to believe-!!

TwoAndAnOnion · 27/05/2021 08:45

@lollipoprainbow

Yes they are and it's all a PR stunt to pit them against M and H. The daily mail are the worst at their nasty thinly veiled articles and the comments section beggars belief!!
You do know the Royals all have their own insta pages etc? They all publish their schedule every day. But people like the Wessexes or Princess Royal aren't 'sexy' enough for daily news articles. The Court Circular will also tell you where they are every day. This isn't anything new. Christ, we couldn't move for Dianas face in the 90's and 90's plastered all over eveything.
Chemenger · 27/05/2021 08:51

@greenandpinkbudgie

Just don’t watch it. I agree it’s embarrassing and cringeworthy but you’re winding yourself up if you look at it on purpose. Grin

Yes you're right. I did click on it.

So what you are actually asking is “Why do I read news articles I’m not interested in”?
lollipoprainbow · 27/05/2021 08:53

I miss the glamour and pizzazz of Di, Kate and William are just so dull no matter how hard the Daily Mail rag tries to convince us otherwise!

CrotchetyQuaver · 27/05/2021 09:02

Grindstone anyone?

derxa · 27/05/2021 09:03

@greenandpinkbudgie

I was aware of their trip to Scotland, which I read was to save the union, which I thought was pretty patronising to Scottish people really and unlikely to succeed
I'm one of the 'Scottish people'. The visit will get up the noses of the die hard independence seekers. But at least they seem to like Scotland. Like Charles, Camilla, the Queen and Princess Anne. I got into terrible trouble yesterday for complaining about the othering of Scotland. So I'll go no further. Grin
VestaTilley · 27/05/2021 09:09

Oh give it a rest. If they weren’t seen to be working hard enough they’d be criticized. They can’t win.

Harry and Meghan have gone, Andrew has been hidden away, Prince Philip has died and had already retired- between that family they have to do thousands of engagements and thousands of patronage’s- that work now needs to be shared out between the Queen, Charles and Camilla, Kate and William, Anne and Edward and Sophie. Of course they’re going to be busy! And as we’re paying for them it’s right that they’re visible.

derxa · 27/05/2021 09:14

@TheoMeo

omg 'the Scottish people' - I'm so relieved you know what the Scottish People want- you and Nicola. I mean I'm just a thick Scottish numpty, but that's not a xxxxxx problem because people like you and Nicola know what I want. So xxxxxxxxxxxx patronising.
Spot on Theo Nicola wants to be Queen of Scotland.
MummyJ12 · 27/05/2021 09:18

I think the only thing that has gone into overdrive Op is the hate and divisiveness. It’s a shame you don’t have better things to do than criticise a couple that are just trying to do their job. Hmm IMO they do their job brilliantly.

MichelleScarn · 27/05/2021 09:19

Absolutely derxa she and her acolytes I am sure would happily bring back the stocks and the dungeons for anyone who dares not agree with her vision!

merrygoround88 · 27/05/2021 09:21

That’s the job though isn’t it. It’s what figurehead royals or presidents do around the world.

I do find the perfect boden lifestyle grating but to be fair a lot of English middle class families convey and admire this lifestyle

EerieSilence · 27/05/2021 09:24

I'm not a fan, I'm a Republican but the way I see it is that they are working.

Comeinoutoftherain · 27/05/2021 09:25

You are going to be seeing a LOT more of them I'm afraid.

The Queen is 95, and has just lost her husband of more than 70 years. It's already been said that family members are going to have to step up and support her more.

H&M have left, Prince Andrew has (thankfully) been forced into retirement.

Prince Charles and Camilla are being vilified in The Crown. Plus Charles has Sandringham and the Duchy of Cornwall Estates to run - apparently he's pretty hands on with that.

They can't travel abroad because of Covid at the moment, and a lot of their usual events in the UK are on hold. So they are having to do what they can, and that includes a lot of video releases.

The videos are getting more media coverage than the majority of their actual appearances are, because they are easy to swipe from their social media.

Charles and Camilla went to NI and W&C went to Scotland. Obviously they are trying to keep the UK together, and the whole reason for having the RF is soft diplomacy.

awaynboilyurheid · 27/05/2021 09:28

Certainly in no universe am I a huge royalist , but I really like William and Kate, they seem to have as somone up thread said, issues and worries of their own, it’s not just Harry that lost his mother and Kates brother has mh issues, but they. get on with the job and do their best. As for Kate laughing , would you want to see a grumpy royal, we would be like why is she so miserable?
H and M could actually learn from them as they are turning into a self pity circus.
