Is it OK to ask nanny to cook one big meal ?

gagahagahah · 25/05/2021 09:31

Is that fair ? She cooks for DD anyway, so I tend to ask her to just make a big meal instead which everyone ( including herself if she wants, can eat).

Or is this out of line ?

Also, is it OK to ask nanny to load / unload dishwasher and do DDs washing, if time allows ? It is that out of line ?

OP, how long has she been working for you?
The fact that she is not already doing the dishwasher, DD’s laundry and extra food for family evening meals means she is either new or these things were not outlined when you employed her.
Either way maybe just have a chat, you seem like you are already working together as a team, so just maybe sound her out.

OP you might want to post this sort of thing on the nannies board in future. You get useful feedback from nannies and nanny employers on there without the usual AIBU nonsense thrown in.

Oh thank you ! I didn't know such a board existed !

Also LOL-ing at the idea that someone who has chosen a career in nannying would get 'significantly stressed' at having to make a larger portion of food which an adult might eat some of. Some of these posters have absolutely no clue

@GappyValley

Trust you to focus on the money 🙄🙄🙄

It was ^ I was referring to

Nanny not cook -use a dictionary if you need to.

I’ve read that post a few times and can’t see any reference to money

Am I missing something?

gagahagahah · 25/05/2021 17:06

@GappyValley I think it's because you mentioned the word 'career'. That's the only thing I can think of.

Sorry but nobodys underwear is pristine by the end of the day. Skids, blood, discharge etc. Anyone whose underwear looks the same as when they first put it on is in the minority. It's not disgusting, it's human nature.
I wouldn't go anywhere near another adults dirty laundry except if it were DP or family.

No, sorry, it is absolutely not normal for there to be blood and skid marks in underwear at the end of every day

You are absolutely revolting if that's the norm for your household.

Do you not use loo roll where you live?

So your underwear looks exactly the same as when you put it on in the morning. I'm not talking full on poo but without being graphic, underwear does not look the same as when it is first put on. If it did there would be no need to wash them or wear them in the first place.
I would never ask a nanny to do that job for me and I would refuse to as well if it was told to me that adults laundry would be a part of the role.

GappyValley · 25/05/2021 17:13

I am utterly agog thank you think that as long as there isn't 'full on poo', it is normal to get that filthy

Bailing on this now before I Envy

LemonSherbetFancies · 25/05/2021 17:17

Hmm As I said I am not talking about full on crapping your pants but to say that there won't be stains/marks etc after a full days wear is ridiculous. And I would not expect a nanny to deal with that and neither would I want her to.

So I'm gona jump in here. My underwear definitely looks different. Not poo, but discharge sometimes. Depending on where I am in my cycle, if you really want to know.

I would not be comfortable for any adult to wash my underwear or handle it in general, as I find it really embarrassing. But I do not find anything wrong with others who are comfortable for nannies or whomever to handle their underwear. I don't see the big deal, if the nanny sticks on laundry anyway and it's your agreement with your nanny, like it is for @GappyValley and that works for them - I really don't care.

I wouldn't do it, but I don't judge @GappyValley for having that arrangement with her nanny- or anyone else for that matter. It's between them.

I m very relaxed about most things but can’t imagine being comfortable with anyone else (whether it was part of their contract of employment or not!) washing my undies.

I’ve wiped bums of various friends’ children before but I would feel handling their dirty undies would be crossing a boundary! It’s just different isn’t it?

I'd think you are really out of order to expect a nanny to cook for the adults.

SunshineCake · 25/05/2021 18:26

Given babies need bottles and small children often have plastic cups and plates how can loading and unloading the dishwasher not be a necessity as they need the bottles, etc.
