Tiny hotel room - aibu to ask to change?

I've just arrived at a Travelodge after a truly horrible journey so may not be in the best frame of mind atm but the room is absolutely tiny. It's literally a couple of feet bigger than the double bed all around. I'm sharing with my sister and there's only one chair and no space to sit on the floor even. I'm too damn tired to do anything tonight but WIBU to ask to change tomorrow?

I've stayed in the same hotel before and had nice bigger rooms so they are available.

I wouldn't wait. Straight back to reception and ask for a room change.

ThreeLittleDots · 24/05/2021 20:49

Former hotel worker - ask now - they'll be more annoyed about it tomorrow as more cleaning of the room required etc

Spied · 24/05/2021 20:50

I'd ask straight away

Folicky · 24/05/2021 20:51

I'd ask to change

JayAlfredPrufrock · 24/05/2021 20:52

Get thee to reception.

QuestionableMouse · 24/05/2021 20:53

Just made a cuppa cause we've been travelling since 9 this morning and I'm genuinely knackered. Will go down after. Thank you.

How many nights are you staying for? If it's just a couple i'd probably make do, depends on how well you get on with your sister I guess..

TeapotCollection · 24/05/2021 20:57

😮 where have you traveled from and to for it to have taken 12 hours?

thecatwithnoeyes · 24/05/2021 20:59

There is only ever one chair though. One of you just sit on the bed

SmidgenofaPigeon · 24/05/2021 20:59

It’s not comfortable so why on earth wouldn’t you just ask them nicely to change? Can’t imagine it’s booked out on a Monday.

If your sister is with you though I think it’s a bit odd not have booked a twin room.

Sunderland to Canterbury!

Had a truly horrible journey, including the exhaust falling off my car on the A19 so I'm genuinely properly grumpy.

One chair would be fine if there was floor space to sit but there's not even that.

If you're exhausted just get into bed and sleep! I'd want a bigger bed if I was sharing, but I assume you knew it was a double when you booked. Were you able to see pics online when you booked to show the room sizes? Maybe they haven't got any bigger

Why can't you sit on the bed?

QuestionableMouse · 24/05/2021 21:04

They absolutely have got bigger rooms - I stayed in the exact same hotel a few years ago and the room was much bigger.

So go and ask Confused

Pleasenomoreglitter · 24/05/2021 21:04

We stayed in a Travelodge in Cardiff and the room was just like that. I think they're a lot less generous than premier inn rooms. They might all be like that.

I hate eating in/on the bed Blush

And yes, it should have probably been a twin but when I tried to book, it said no twin rooms were available.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 24/05/2021 21:07

Maybe it’s fully booked then and rooms were allocated on arrival and you’ve been unlucky.

Byge · 24/05/2021 21:07

For travellodge that seems fairly standard? One on the chair, one on the bed or sitting by the radiator bit.
But if it's bothering you, just go ask will be a quick yes or no.

thecatwithnoeyes · 24/05/2021 21:07

I think you have had travelodge problems before

SmidgenofaPigeon · 24/05/2021 21:07

Just go and eat in the bar?

SnarkyBag · 24/05/2021 21:08

Why would you sit on the floor Confused
It’s not ideal so fine to ask for a bigger room but you should have done it straight away rather than making a drink and sitting in there, probably using the bathroom too?

SnarkyBag · 24/05/2021 21:10

God I wouldn’t eat on the carpet of a travelodge!

I think these types of places are literally just somewhere to rest your head not dine in and hang out.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 24/05/2021 21:12

Are you the same poster who had the travel lodge problem of scaffolding up at the window?
