Tiny hotel room - aibu to ask to change?

I've just arrived at a Travelodge after a truly horrible journey so may not be in the best frame of mind atm but the room is absolutely tiny. It's literally a couple of feet bigger than the double bed all around. I'm sharing with my sister and there's only one chair and no space to sit on the floor even. I'm too damn tired to do anything tonight but WIBU to ask to change tomorrow?

I've stayed in the same hotel before and had nice bigger rooms so they are available.

but now you've used the room and they have to do all the extra cleaning

caringcarer · 24/05/2021 21:17

It looks like a standard double Travel Lodge room to me. You have to ask for triple room to get the larger space. Premier Inns have much larger rooms as standard. You probably got there later if travelled so far and they give out bigger rooms first.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/05/2021 21:20

A lot more space it'd be a broom cupboard by the sounds of it.
I know it'll be a PITA but I'd ask to move tonight. If you wait till tomorrow they could use the 'It wasn't a problem last night. Why is it a problem now, chestnut. Not only that but. All the bigger rooms could be gone by then.

katy1213 · 24/05/2021 21:22

Why are you telling us and not them?

gingerandproud4always · 24/05/2021 21:23

Do you work for premier inn?

Twizbe · 24/05/2021 21:24

Ask now.

I used to have to travel for work a lot. I got to one room and it was tiny. The ceiling was only about an inch or so above my head (I'm 6ft)

I went down straight away and very very nicely asked if I could change rooms.

They upgraded me to a suite! It was a huge split level room with 2 bathrooms. Loved it

EggysMom · 24/05/2021 21:25

I've only ever had one chair in a double room like that - the other person ends up sitting on the bed ...

osbertthesyrianhamster · 24/05/2021 21:26

Go down or get her to go down and ask now.

QuestionableMouse · 24/05/2021 21:27

@SmidgenofaPigeon

Are you the same poster who had the travel lodge problem of scaffolding up at the window?
That was a Premier Inn 😂

I don't have much luck with hotel rooms. 😞🤷🏻‍♀️

This. It looks like a standard TL room. They’re intended to sleep and shower.
QuestionableMouse · 24/05/2021 21:46

No rooms left for tonight. Have to ask again in the morning.

And I didn't have much choice about using the room - i needed to change my san pro and my diabetic sister needed to do her insulin. We also needed a drink and food - it was a truly horrible journey!

Oh my god. There's blood on the wall.

I'm not usually fussy but that's gross 🤢

The bigger rooms are family rooms, the sofa becomes a bed

QuestionableMouse · 24/05/2021 23:21

Honestly I've booked a double room in this exact hotel before, maybe four times, and they were much bigger. Never booked a family room here.

That’s disgusting. After similar experiences we have not stayed in travelodges for over ten years now. I just won’t risk it.

FortunesFave · 24/05/2021 23:52

Why are you still IN there?? Go down and ask to change!

QuestionableMouse · 24/05/2021 23:57

I've been down and asked earlier and there are no empty rooms.

Floralnomad · 24/05/2021 23:57

Just tell them the room is dirty , if necessary find a different hotel for the night .

But it isn’t dirty it’s just not to the OP’s preference. What a stupid suggestion
supercee · 25/05/2021 07:32

@SnarkyBag There's blood on the wall. That's dirty in my book.

notapizzaeater · 25/05/2021 07:46

Have they sent housekeeping up to clean the wall ?

katscamel · 25/05/2021 08:38

If its the TL I'm thinking of I wouldn't stay there in a million years. If you can, try and move out P.Inn is better or Weatherspoons a the top of town have rooms. Falstaff, though a tad more expensive also meant to be lovely. Hope you get sonething sorted soon.

DeflatedGinDrinker · 25/05/2021 08:41

That room is vile hope they came and cleaned it.

QuestionableMouse · 25/05/2021 08:54

@SnarkyBag no it is genuinely dirty. The heater is full of crap and smelled like burning when I turned it on this morning. The light is full of wasps which I didn't notice last night.

I've booked into the Premier Inn for the next two nights as I just don't want to spend a minute longer in here.
