Or do you know someone that is? I'm curious how many real life people are actually on it.

I'm not a journo, the Daily mail is a shit rag.

I don’t know anyone however I watched a show on TV and they make good money!!

I think it can be a positive thing providing they are spending wisely like buying a house.

I did speak to a friend briefly and there view was totally different to mine.
Realistically if your going to have sex though why give it away for free with different people? Good luck to them!!

SimonJT · 21/05/2021 16:52

@TedImgoingmad He mainly does household tasks, gym workouts etc. His subscribers are mainly women, or subscribers who signed up when it was purely a workout channel. It was purely a workout thing until some of his female followers started to request other things, like shirtless ironing, or sanding skirting boards in tradie shorts.

@madesofeastwich

I've NC'd for this but I've been on it for about a year now - I make about £800-£1000 a month, and I don't do anything that would be considered "pornographic" (I'm never unclothed etc) - I do it alongside my actual full time, professional role and it's never caused me any issues
But haven't said what it is that you do?! Confused
VicarOfWibbly · 21/05/2021 16:53

One of my friends works in recruitment and OnlyFans is now a site that gets searched for potential future employees. The way some firms will ask for an assessment of normal social media like posts from 2007 saying how stoned they were or anything like that - they search for that and now on OnlyFans too. Worth bearing in mind. She had a candidate who lost a job offer because she would be bringing her future firm into disrepute.

MissScotland101 · 21/05/2021 16:53
@MissScotland101

The very fact that your friend thinks that selling her body in order to fund an expensive lifestyle is a sign that she’s a “strong woman”, and says in the same breath that she’s “addicted to the money” in itself is worrying. I wonder, when she was a child and someone asked her what she wanted to be when she grows up, did she reply - sell my body for money?
She wants a certain lifestyle so is selling it to achieve that. Her choice, but empowering it isn’t.
She doesn’t sell her body at all, when I said sex worker then I didn’t mean she is a hooker but she has done glamour modelling, stripping etc and has made a small fortune over the years, she wouldn’t actually have sex for cash at all.

She used to work NMW jobs and she wasn’t happy as she likes nice things and tried studying but she didn’t like it so the sex industry was the next best thing for her, she is happy and it’s her life, she isn’t hurting anyone so what’s the issue.

Working for NMW isn’t exactly empowering either. Some women are empowered by the sheer fact they can make money from their bodies, and if they feel that way then it’s up to them.

GoldenLabbie · 21/05/2021 16:54

There’s not only porn on there, I don’t know why people think that?

Do a lot of people use their actual name on their Only Fans account? Doesn't seem wise. Seems like it would make stalking by a 'fan' quite easy.
skybluee · 21/05/2021 16:56

I knew someone who did OnlyFans (something similar). The reasons were:

 • she wasn't mentally well enough to hold down a full time job with normal working hours
 • working from home and working erratic hours/she could pick/when she felt she could cope with it was one of the only ways it was going to work
 • could not face the benefit system
 • was frightened of ending up homeless

She made more than a full time job.

but found it

 • dehumanising
 • a lot to deal with
 • more emotionally stressful than expected
 • more physically taxing than expected (live dances, etc).
Grellbunt · 21/05/2021 16:57

TedImgoingmad

 1. Genuine occupational requirements provision could be used to make it single sex?
 1. They've managed to create suitable policies in the likes of Germany, so I wouldn't be so sure.

Don't get me wrong, I would be horrified to see this, but I'm afraid I've become very cynical. The law is very much subject to subjective notions, such as reasonableness, and if things become "normalised" widely this opens the door to changes in legal protections too. Public morals as sth enforced by law is fast going out of fashion.

TedImgoingmad · 21/05/2021 16:58

I’m perhaps not articulating myself well but the main point I’m saying is that not all women who work in the sex industry are vulnerable and let’s face it, the media etc only reports sex workers that are vulnerable, ie addicted to drugs, victims of abuse etc etc, the media isn’t going to paint a nice picture of workers within the sex industry are they, that won’t do at all.

I'd say being vulnerable is an entry level qualification.

Leaving school with little viable education makes you vulnerable.

Having no career ambition or direction in life makes you vulnerable.

Lacking in the sort of boundaries that allows you to do porn related work makes you vulnerable.

Lacking the usual "shame factors" - e.g. a family who cares about you - makes you vulnerable.

Having an addiction - to drugs, sex, money or whatever drives you - makes you vulnerable.

Having children to feed, other dependents, no partner to help you, and no way of being able to sustain a regular job makes you vulnerable.

Living in a world where social media addiction is rife, the overreach of lifestyle influencers on young women, and the desire for instant emulation and gratification, requiring instant large quantities money to achieve it, makes you vulnerable.

Earning lots of money from any job that depends on entry level vulnerability, whether that's one or all of the above, is not something to be proud of or to be encouraged by wider society.

It all depends what you do on OF, some women just post pictures and some are willing to do more, like playing with themselves on camera etc, I couldn’t do that but some women are willing too, it’s not for everyone.

It appeals to men more than porn because they can interact with the women. I do find these men to be sad and pathetic but sad and pathetic are these women’s bread and butter!

Cocolapew · 21/05/2021 16:59

DD knows a young trans woman who is on it, most definitely doing porn. So far they have earned enough to pay for double DDs and now is now on it to get the money for the rest of their surgery.

Grellbunt · 21/05/2021 16:59

So what I'm saying is, if you don't like this you need to get judgy, publicly and privately, before it is too late.

@Lala134

this society is discusting. Young girls being taught all they are worth is to be used for a fuck then discarded for another dumb girl who is ok pissing on the floor and being paid £50 quid for it on OF. Young girls seeing constant sexualised content on social media/TV/music. Women having to look 'fuckable' or they are worthless. Women butchering themslves with BBL, lip filler, etc to all look like some ridicuous caricature posing and taking pictures of themslves all day long admiring themselves. What every happened to humility? Why is vanity and porongraphy celebrated? I would rather live in a dustbin than sell my body. You are degrading what it means to be a woman, you are ruining sex and intimate relationships. Why do people have no respect, morals or class these days?. If you cannot see how pornography/ only fans/ sex 'work' is ruining society and warpings mens views on women, if you cant see how disrespectful it is to women then you are extremely naive and stupid and to call yourself 'empowered'? you have got to be fucking kidding me. I have every right to judge since those who have no morals and promote this discutsing ideology that women are worth nothing but to be used for a quick fuck and can be bought and paid for and deserve no respect or care. I wish peope would think of how there selfish actions for some money so they can buy a new bag or some other pathetic materialistc thing should think how they are effecting society as a whole promoting vanity, promiscuity, a fake image of women, demaning and degrading women.
Sex work is ruining society and warping men's view of women? Give me a fucking break! Sex work exists because of men's warped view that they can rent a vagina for their own pleasure.

Your misogyny is shining through.

Lala you may think that but if you live in a dustbin/lose the safety of your home you're going to be hurt 100 times over what OnlyFans does, at least with that it's from your own home, there's no one else there, it's all virtual, it's images, no one gets to touch you and you get to control it. It's horrible and it's not ideal, it can be gross, but to compare it to losing your home, it just isn't the same.

I class selling your body prostitution, nothing else.
Grellbunt · 21/05/2021 17:04

Alternatively, or in addition, as appropriate for each one of us, we can use the excellent arguments put forward by TedImgoingmad to push back in the public debates on this.

TedImgoingmad · 21/05/2021 17:05

Wow, that's interesting and a bit depressing. Women getting titilated by men doing ordinary household tasks. Maybe they don't see any of that ironing and sanding action from the useless men in their lives, and the very fact of a man doing it is a massive turn on.

Does he have much competition? I assume he's a rarity.

LilyinWonderland · 21/05/2021 17:05

I know a woman that has OF. Not a massive following but brings in a few hundred pounds a month. She was fired from her job because someone she worked with showed their boss.

skybluee · 21/05/2021 17:05

MisScotland, I agree it's all about what you do, and some people can probably make a good living without doing anything they're not comfortable with.

But unfortunately on the flip side, you obviously get people asking for that and can make a lot more money doing that kind of stuff, it's what it's aimed for really, it's not aimed at e.g. non-nude stuff. And if you're broke and waiting for money to come into your bank account, it is easy to end up doing stuff you don't really want to as you need the money. I suppose the best way is to find some kind of non-nude niche but not everyone can do that.

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 21/05/2021 17:06

Also why is selling pictures you like of yourself "selling your body" yet any manner of things where people actually have to use their bodies coming into contact with other peoples bodies is not.

Nobody ever says masseuses are selling their bodies or sports therapists or sporting personalities.

MissScotland101 · 21/05/2021 17:06

Exactly and frankly, without sex workers then there would be far more rapes and assaults than there is now, disgusting but true and men are the issue, not women.

AGirlCalledJohnny · 21/05/2021 17:08

I do. She is absolutely stunning and into bodybuilding. Started off with pictures of her showing off her muscles and seems to have just gone further and further.

Broke up her marriage and she lost custody of her kids. They’re still too young for other kids to have copped to it, but it won’t be long as the eldest starts secondary next year. And we do not live in the kind of area where this would ever be viewed as anything other than trashy. The gossip about it has been awful, men being salacious and women being bitchy. Personally don’t give a shit, but I do feel awful for her kids as I know there’s no way to insulate them from it around here.

Also, can’t be as lucrative as all that as she also works as a cocktail waitress pretty much full time.

MissScotland101 · 21/05/2021 17:09

OP this comment that I made was in response to your comment about men having the warped ideas, for some reason when I went to quote then it didn’t work.
