I was just washing up the crusty dishes that DH helpfully put in "to soak" and used some pampered chef plastic scraper to get the grot off and thought how simple yet clever (yes I might the two cheapest items at a party years ago).
I feel like I need more stuff like this. Small or large but to make my life easier. Tell me yours ? I fancy being nosy and I'm bored

Very low tech - my double bladed herb chopper. Two curved blades with a handle on between, and a curved chopping board. Chips herbs, chillies, ginger etc so quickly and easily. It's great.

Also my hot water dispenser. Sits by my bed, two cups of coffee before I'm even out of bed. Brill.

SMabbutt · 22/05/2021 07:07

A wire/balloon whisk. No more lumpy custard or sauce.

Terrazzo · 22/05/2021 07:09

Renpho foot massager!! Heaven!

WeAllHaveWings · 22/05/2021 07:11

Manual veg chopper. Use it to make quick chopped salads (leaves, carrot, onion, peppers, apple etc) and ds eats piles and piles of it. Wouldn't touch salad before. Quick to wash clean.

RoseHarper · 22/05/2021 09:22

Carpet cleaner ordered! So easily influenced!

SadieCow · 22/05/2021 09:59

I've also got a Bissell cleaner on the way 🤦‍♀️!

sashh · 22/05/2021 10:02

Not really a gadget, well it is, but a different use.

I cook eggs on/in my toasted sandwich maker (which I now refer to as my Jaffle).

Switch on, spray of oil or a drop, once heated put the egg in, put the top down and don' use the catch, 3 mins later you have an egg that is somewhere between poached and fired.

Because they are triangular you can fir 2 on a standard slice of toast.

I’m in the US, so not totally helpful to you, but it looks like Amazon has one that might work for you. www.amazon.co.uk/Elegant-Life-Compact-Lightweight-Diffuser/dp/B08CGGJ7PS/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&rnid=1642204031&s=beauty&keywords=Plugged+in+travel+diffuser&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1621698175&sr=1-1

Looks worthy of a go ! Thank you so much 😊

A potato peeler from a Tupperware party about 15 years ago and a Eufy robovac last year.

skirk64 · 22/05/2021 16:53

CCTV cameras. Some inside, some outside, everything gets recorded so I can review if necessary and monitor what's going on while I'm away.

My first smartphone was a life changer for me. It really helped me in balancing act of work and younger kids. The same for getting high speed broadband at home. And my Hitachi Magic Wand :) But nothing new here, it's the kind of stuff most have and take for granted these days!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 22/05/2021 17:02

@Cowbells

Mind you, I'm also very impressed with the Bissell carpet shampooer I bought a couple of weeks ago and used for the first time the other day. It's about a million times more effective than the Rug Doctor I hired.

This is the kind of info I love. I am always on the look out for a decent carpet cleaner. Never found one better than Rug Doctor yet but they are so heavy and grimy. My Vax is rubbish. Just doesn't work at all.

My vax is rubbish too. I was so excited when I saved up and bought it. It's never done a great job though and I'm hoping it breaks soon so I can replace it!

Love my air fryer (but not for chips), mini chopper and the DCs use the smoothie maker (like a nutribullet style one) daily.

SadieCow · 22/05/2021 17:52

@RagzReturnsRebooted I love my air fryer, what do you cook in yours please?

polkadotpjs · 22/05/2021 23:32

Off to order a microwave rice cooker and looking at my massive bulky Vax with loathing now. On the plus side my olive spoon arrived today

That's very like/ same as a camping can opener.

Can anyone show me pictures of their vegetable choppers please? Or weblinks to similar.

I am crap at finely chopping onions and would love a gadget in my life that does this.

I do mine in the aforementioned food processor! Takes about 2 whole seconds.
Ringsender2 · 23/05/2021 12:23

I'm going to have to look into all of these kitchen gadgets, aren't I?

Question: where do you store them? We only have a galley kitchen

Any meat (lamb chops are divine, crispy fat heaven), cheese toasties, mini herby roasted potatoes, mini pizzas (French bread, pitta), roasted veg like broccoli, crispy kale, Mediterranean veg. So much just not chips as we still have a deep fryer and my few attempts at air fried chips were shit.

www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbcgoodfood.com/review/best-mini-choppers/amp Mine is the same style as the ninja one but bought in Lidl many years ago. MIL bought us a newer one from somewhere a few years ago but it isn't as good. So good for chopping onions, garlic and finely chopping veg like carrots and courgettes to hide in bolognese!

We have a tiny kitchen and so many gadgets. We use the cupboard under the stairs as a pantry to store dry foods like tins etc so have a fair amount of cupboard space (we don't have any big appliances in the kitchen though aside from a fridge freezer, the washer and dryer are in the garage).
polkadotpjs · 24/05/2021 15:32

My olive stoner is crap. Ordered it before I made this thread but hadn't bought olives with stones until yesterday. Then tried it last night. Didn't work. Anyone got a good one?

OP posts:
Breadcheesebread · 24/05/2021 15:38

My dicer.

It's great for when you need diced onions and tomatoes.

We use it on average once a week but the recipes I use call for a lot of diced onions and tomatoes so it saves me a lot of time.
And the kids can do the dicing part without having to handle sharp knives.

HaveringWavering · 24/05/2021 15:50

Oxo Good Grips spreader knife. Up till then I always tried to spread butter on bread and toast with a table knife or small butter knife. So simple, but an absolute game changer!

www.cookwarestore.co.uk/spreading-knife-oxo-good-grips

Also Tangle Teezer. I have not brushed my hair with anything else for over 10 years. Magic.
