What are your weird personal rules?

I have a personal rule, and I don't know where it came from, but it's: No outside things can touch the inside of the bed.

For example, if I want to put a bag on the bed, I would put it on top of the duvet. Absolutely no way in hell could I put it on the bottom sheet, or if the duvet was rucked up or folded over on the inside of the duvet. It makes me on edge just thinking about it.

Please share your weird personal rules (lighthearted + no judgement here)!

When I get books from the library I have to read them in shortest to longest order. I check the page number of the last page of each book and then stack them up in the right order.

I have to tuck my pyjamas pants into my socks to stop my ankles getting cold.

I can only drink wine from a wine glass, I hate drinking out of plastic cups at parties.

DVDs and Books cannot share shelf space. DH and I have had many discussions about this.

If I accidentally put on a sock inside out, I have to go and get another pair to wear instead, because a sock that's been turned outside in after putting it on feels odd to wear and I'm conscious of it for hours.

@EssentialHummus

I’m quite sure I give my kettle the equivalent of blue balls by always switching it off just before it boils. Can’t let it boil. Have to physically stop myself from doing the same to other people’s kettles.

Have “my” forks and (not that he knows it) giving DH the other ones.

I've recently discovered that you mustn't brew tea with boiled water as it creates a burnt taste... you should pour under boiled water on tea leaves.
neverearlythoughItry · 17/05/2021 18:04

Always a cup of tea after an icecream

lazylinguist · 17/05/2021 18:05

I honestly can't think of a single one. Maybe that makes me the weird one! Not really, you are all bonkers

I never eat my lunch at my desk.

I also never put my bag on a table when another person is sitting there. If I'm on my own then it's fine, but I find bags on tables to be really anti-social.

StarlightLady · 17/05/2021 18:07
  • Close the toilet lid.
  • No outdoor shoes in house.
  • Brush my hair before going to bed.
  • Try to match bra and Knickers; sometimes fail at this one!
  • Always say hello to a shop assistant before saying what l want.
shas19 · 17/05/2021 18:08

No new shoes on the table. Say for instande you buy a new pair of shoes, still in the box, they can not go on the table

1Morewineplease · 17/05/2021 18:09

@Janedownourlane

Always leave a couple of beans in the tin after emptying into the pan to let them feel like they've escaped being eaten. Also no tins upside down in the cupboard in case the contents get a headache.
NOOOOO!!!!!! If you put beans, peas, sweet corn into a pan, from the tin, you must NEVER leave any family members behind in the tin, they must go with their family!!!
Thewinterofdiscontent · 17/05/2021 18:12

@PennyRoyal

White knickers only.
I’m black cotton only for everyday! Fancy ones for date night.

White knickers feel wrong ( and they go grey).

Twenty2 · 17/05/2021 18:14

@maddiemookins16mum

Knickers on before bra.

This one is so obvious! Knickers, socks, then bra last, everyone knows this. Only a psychopath would do it in a different order Shock

Twenty2 · 17/05/2021 18:19

WhipperSnapperSteve
Gank every Alliance.

Computer & computer keyboard & mouse LED's have to be the same colour.

Funnily enough, mine is gank every horde

Also, a volume on even number and have to get dressed in the right order - pants, bra, socks, bottoms, top. Feel out of sorts all day if I don’t!

Ah, I see we do have psychopath here Wink

Twenty2 · 17/05/2021 18:19

@EggysMom

The only one I have is that I don't like to eat similar food two days in a row - for example, if I have SF Chicken one day, I can't have chicken kievs the next day; if I have a beef casserole one day, I can't have beefburgers the next. The only exception is on a Monday when something is made from the leftover roast meat.

Yes!

Staffy1 · 17/05/2021 18:20

No poo in the downstairs loo (what if someone comes to the door?!)

You would hate our house. It's a bungalow with the only loo right next to the front door.

Twenty2 · 17/05/2021 18:21

@SimonedeBeauvoirscat

Those of you who put your clothes on in a certain order: do you have to take them OFF in the same order ???

Yes. The world would end if not. Seriously.

PinkTonic · 17/05/2021 18:21

Nothing red on the plate with egg. No beans, tomatoes or ketchup allowed.

Salad or pickle on a sandwich, never both. Pickle and salad is wrong.

JosephAnton · 17/05/2021 18:22

Bra and knickers must always match. Either all black, all white, or all nude.

muckypaws · 17/05/2021 18:23

@Pyewackect

No new shoes on the table.
Absolutely. Or any shoes, just to be safe.
Izzy24 · 17/05/2021 18:23

Don’t talk to me while I’m in the loo.

Particularly don’t ask me what’s for supper.

SpeakingFranglais · 17/05/2021 18:24

@HollowTalk

I'm the same about drinking something cold from a mug - it's just wrong!
If a road has an area designated for crossing, so those block paved bits on either side of the road, maybe where the lollipop lady crosses school kids, I have to cross there and walk on both bits of block paved dropped kerb even if there isn’t a car in sight.
Twenty2 · 17/05/2021 18:24

@zafferana

You people all have OCD ... just sayin'
* We're trying to prevent the apocalypse!* Shock
mamaatthegym · 17/05/2021 18:25

When I was primary school age I couldn’t poo without taking all my clothes off. I’m 28 now and it’s not a habit anymore thankfully.

Getmesomecoffee · 17/05/2021 18:26

Tea should be in mugs with thin sides, which are taller than they are wide, coffee in thick-sided squat mugs.
No clothes with words/phrases on.
Only use (normal spoon-shaped) measuring spoons for measuring, not to be used for anything else.
Knickers mustn't clash with outfit, i.e. never black knickers under navy trousers.

starfishmummy · 17/05/2021 18:27

@FizzyPink

If the wine in a restaurant doesn’t come in a decent wine glass I’ll order something else instead. I can’t stand these trendy restaurants with their tumblers of wine.
I can't drink a latte in a coffee shop that serves it in one of those tall top heavy glasses.
