To want to wear heels on a night out?

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:24

DH has just announced that he'd rather I didn't wear heels out as I am taller than him in them. He says it's weird me being taller than him. I don't want to wear trainers but now I'll feel stupid wearing my heels knowing that he feels this way

DH is 6 foot, I am 5 foot 9.
He says lots of blokes feel this way.

I don't often wear heels but it's a special occasion and I just want to feel sexy as we don't get out much as DS is 5m.

I think I'll wear them anyway but it pissed me off that he said that as he knows I have low self esteem anyway.

AIBU?

He's the one being unreasonable. Wear what you want and have a brilliant night!

at your height.

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:32

Thanks Lola

I've got that song

"I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a '64 Impala..."

in my head. Except it starts "I wish I was a little bit smaller etc."

Poo. I can't win now. If I wear trainers I'll feel like a scruff next to all my glam (short) friends. If I wear heels DH has told me I can't stand next to him.

YANBU. Does he expect you to stoop the rest of the time? Be bold, be strong... He needs educating. You need a picture of tiny Bernie Ecclestone (wizened but fabulously wealthy midget in the motor-racing world) and his gorgeous, exotic, six-foot Amazon of a wife. Will try & find a link.

TheStepfordChav · 15/11/2007 20:35

There'sa pic on here

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:39

Well exactly! I'm sure we are about the same height anyway. It's not like he'll be looking up my nose all night.

Thanks Steps, will email him the link

Pah, your DH needs to get a grip! Wear what you jolly well like!!

Bainmarie · 15/11/2007 20:41

YANBU! Wear them anyway!

TheStepfordChav · 15/11/2007 20:41

And some more here

Golly, can't imagine how far down he was when he got down on one knee to propose!

TheStepfordChav · 15/11/2007 20:42

Penny's taller than Rod isn't she?

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:43

Hmmm... he mailed this back to me

TheStepfordChav · 15/11/2007 20:43

Bet she doesn't wear flats on a night out (shudder) It's against your yuman rights!

puppydavies · 15/11/2007 20:44

you wear 4 inch heels? respect

get him some lifts for his shoes

RosaTransylvania · 15/11/2007 20:44

What, does he think people are going to point and laugh in the street or something? Tell him to get real. I am an inch taller than my DH. Doesn't bother him and he has no objection whatsoever to me wearing heels. I think your DH is being ridiculous, wear the shoes and don't let it bother you.

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:45

Rod's hair is quite tall though.

Hahaha

PMSL!!!

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:47

Rosa, I totally agree. I wore flip flops under my wedding dress

TheStepfordChav · 15/11/2007 20:48

I don't think you & he will look like those two! (If so, you've got more to worry about than not wearing heels )

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:49

Lol at steps

I do look better than that honest.

Answer: DH gets a Rod wig!

bookofthedeadmum · 15/11/2007 20:49

Wear the heels.

My dp is like this - we're the same height so he tries to 'ban' me from hearing heels. I was tempted to get him a pair of Tom Cruise shoes as I'm sick of the lectures about it if he sees me in them . I can't go around with bent knees though just because he's a short-arse for a man.

Yes I am a bit of a mood tonight .

bookofthedeadmum · 15/11/2007 20:50

'in a mood' even .

TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:51

Book of dm, it's quite annoying. I very rarely wear heels. When I do it is because I want to feel like I've made an effort. I don't ever feel sexy in flats

OP posts:
TooTall · 15/11/2007 20:52

Right ok, has anyone got a Rod Stewart wig I can borrow for tomorrow night? Maybe I should start a new thread...

OP posts:
bookofthedeadmum · 15/11/2007 20:55

What is it with having to be taller than a woman? We can't help it if we've got good genes and also want to wear pretty shoes. Flats can be so dreary.

TooTall · 15/11/2007 21:03

Dunno. He's quite a macho guy and he has no reason to feel inferior or less of a man. He's got nothing to worry about. I don't want to make him feel stupid tho.
