AIBU?

To ask you to avert a war and name our new kitten...

Today our new overlord kitten came to live with us.

There is outright war between the DSs over her name.

DS1 wants Twix Or Elektra
DS2 wants Karamel or KitKat

The only thing they could agree on was that she either needs to be named after a biscuit/chocolate or have a K where there should be a C (this is due to the name of our old chap who we lost)

Having exhausted my peace keeping abilities I turn to the wisdom of mumsnet (with the half-hearted approval of the DSs) to declare her name.

The secret hidden option is to get another kitten and let them name one each

Pictures of the furball attached ....

So AIBU to stealth boast about how adorable she is ask you to name her?

She is lovely. Could let her choose her own - so write the names down and put them on the floor in front of her. Read them to her as you pick each up. You never know she might be interested in one more than the others.

I’m just popping on to say are you definitely sure she isn’t a dude..?
Because ginger cats are almost always male and tortoiseshell almost always female.
It’s very unusual to get a female ginger or a male tortoiseshell.

Well you know if she’s too much trouble I’m happy to take her off your hands Grin

I like Krunchie

She's very cute and I'm not even keen on cats.

Never mind the name that is chosen, you have a beautiful kitten.

Very true

Are you sure she doesn’t have a little Willy down there?

The testicles won’t descend for months so it’s easy to miss

She is completely adorable.
I hereby name her Kassie.

Funny I hadn’t thought of that - and we had loads of cats! Always male orange bruisers!

@DiddlyWiddly

Gingers are more likely to be male but it's not that unlikely to be female

Just wanted to say we have a female ginger. Rare but not impossible

My vote is for Krunchie.

Surely the kitten can just identify with whichever sex it likes regardless of little willies and undescended testicles.

True but more likely to male. Just as torties are more likely to be female

If you manage to find a male tortie, they are often sterile

That cat is a Jaffa if ever I saw one!!

Yes she's definitely a little girl.

I couldn't believe our luck honestly. Our old boy was a short-haired pure ginger and the DSs really wanted another ginger cat but I have been a bit hesitant as I didn't want to feel like I was replacing him iykim so to drop on a long haired ginger and white girl has been a bit surprising and made getting one easier.

I wasn't going to get one at all as there are plenty of cats here (semi feral colony in the stables) but she just felt a bit fated with being so similar and so different which I know sounds daft!

She is making me smile although its with a slight twinge of sadness.

given the biscuit and k/c constraints, with her colouring definitely Krunchie.
I bought myself a crunchie bar the other day - it was foul, used to love them as a child. But Krunchie is definitely the right name for her colour.
(or Terry - as in Terry's chocolate orange?)
