Just interested how everyone spends their evenings after work, do you do hobbies, If so what!? With being in lockdown for so long it’s tricky getting back into a normal evening routine!?

Finish work by 7, cook dinner, clean up and either watch something on Netflix/Prime/Hulu (or any of our other eleventy billion streaming services...) or school work because I’m studying for my master’s. Take the dog out, shower then bed around midnight.

In the before times I’d also include at least one weeknight dinner out with friends and DH and I always have a dinner out at the weekend.

So many of us just messing about on screens waiting to go to bed. Very thought-provoking!

Do you mean after the cooking and cleaning up, after dc activities, after sorting out dc homework and music practice, after getting dc into bed and reading with them? By which time its 9pm. I catch up on work, in the evening when DH sorts the dc out. Sometimes swim. Mainly mumsnet and watch mind numbing films on the iPad in bed, or call a friend or my mum or dsis. Theres not much free time.

If I'm not working a late shift,
Tidy up
Stress about dinner
Walk the dog
Eventually cook dinner
Wash up if DP is working
Watch telly with DD
Take her up to bed
Mess about on phone sending memes and chatting to friends on messenger
Get things ready for work if I'm working an early shift the next day
Read for a bit.

These types of threads always make me amazed at how much energy other people have. I just find work so mentally draining that I have had little energy for anything else in the evenin, even pre DC.

@Chickenlickeninthepot

Usual evening goes:
Take bra off
Make & eat dinner whilst bouncing baby
Watch one episode of a series
Say I'm going to bed then piss around on my phone and watching the news until it's nearly 11pm
Regret my choices
Go to bed

This sounds very familiar!

Very relieved I am not alone in the dullness!
Dogs
Dinner
Admin/cleaning/gardening
Flop with cup of tea and occasionally mending/knitting/cross stitch in front of TV/mumsnet/book about 1hr, usually while promising dogs their last walk will be “in just a minute”
OR Maybe bath/hair wash
Take dogs for a last airing
Bed
Exercise class once a week
Maybe monthly dinner with family or friends, but then everything else gets squeezed.
(No DC at home, work 7 days a week, get home anytime from 4-10)

Shower, read and fanny about on MN, eat supper. I never do any housework in evenings. It's my time to relax.

I watch TV occasionally.

Child’s dinner at 5pm and/or homework and after school activities until 6.30pm-ish. dinner for myself and husband around 7pm, bath then bed for child at 8pm, sort lunches out, flop into bed to watch TV or read or audiobook or just fanny around on the Internet, asleep by 10pm!

During the week it’s usually ferrying DDs around to various activities, have dinner together, bath/shower DDs, stories and then bed. By which time I am exhausted (though DH does help if he’s not still working) and normally DH does a quick tidy while I shower then I feed littlest DD whilst he showers and we go to bed. Sometimes we will stay downstairs and watch Netflix but these days it seems I don’t even have the energy!
At the weekends thankfully we have much more chilled evenings.

I don't really have evenings after work, I work 13 hour shifts 3 days a week so don't get home from work till late, might have a quit bite to eat and watch an hour of TV before bed. I have 4 full days to do whatever I want though.

Good q... before all this happened I used to be out doing stuff 4-5 nights a week. Now things are opening up again I have no idea what to do!
At the moment a mix of:
Yoga
Going for a bike ride or run
Watching Line of Duty (only on season 4)
Reading
Learning French
Generally catching up with DP and maybe talking to family/friends on the phone.

Online personal training, then dinner. Tidy up, emails and work catch up and prep (teacher), bath, cup of tea, half an hour's TV, quick dog walk, waste time on phone, ring my mum, message friends, tidy kitchen, go to bed about 11.

This has been an eye opener. Every evening I don't relax, I'm always doing school work. I realise many other jobs entail evening work but reading this has made me see that many jobs don't entail spending each evening with a laptop.

Sometimes I just watch tv all night while scrolling mindlessly on my phone

Other times I:
Go and play tennis
Go out for tea with friends or with DH
Read
Do embroidery
Have a bath
Listen to an audiobook
Sit in the garden with wine
Play a game on the switch

Sometimes I have an evening where I do a bit of grooming such as sorting eyebrows etc

Sometimes we don't do much other than have sex in the middle of the evening tbh (no kids yet)

I'm thinking of starting an online course, previously I was worried I didnt have enough time but I absolutely do and it would be much more productive than most of my evenings where I just watch tv

At the minute, working.

After May half term I'm hoping to get some more evenings back. At that point I think a lot of my evening will be spent with my new puppy!!
I also do
Brownies
Crafts (crochet, diamond painting, soap making, whatever catches my eye tbh)
Go for a walk
Watch TV

@Shoxfordian

I’m doing an online philosophy course every Thursday from 6 to 8

Other evenings, dh and I cook, we watch tv, play a game sometimes, online book clubs

Sounds interesting. Who's providing the course, if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to do something similar.

The kids do activities 2 nights a week. We see my mum one night a week. Apart from that it’s tea and trash tv. In the summer we spend more time outside in the garden.
