Just interested how everyone spends their evenings after work, do you do hobbies, If so what!? With being in lockdown for so long it’s tricky getting back into a normal evening routine!?

We have dinner about 5/5.30 the tidy up / do jigsaws or duplo with ds1 & turn on disco light to keep baby ds entertained. Start bedtime routine at 6.30/6.45, kids are asleep by 7.30.
We then watch a wee bit of tv together or I have a Bath or something. Bed at 10.

I sit alone at my PC every evening till bedtime. I read stuff on social media, articles, and play Scrabble online. I usually have one window open with something visual playing on Netflix, iPlayer or Youtube.

I also speak to my boyfriend twice every evening on the phone. Once a week I'll phone another friend as well.

Normal weekday, get home from work
Go gym
Put ds to bed

Read or watch TV with dh

Don't do too much really.

You No DC at home Grin.

My evenings are my own ... just had a Bath, thinking about a glass of wine before dinner, eat dinner .... watch a bit of tv (maybe) or read. My DH has gone for a long walk, I should have joined him really, quite like walking in the evenings when it's light.

I used to be out a lot more, committee meetings, book club, meeting friends ... I find evenings pretty dull now and looking forward to be able to do more.

@Chickenlickeninthepot

Usual evening goes:
Take bra off
Make & eat dinner whilst bouncing baby
Watch one episode of a series
Say I'm going to bed then piss around on my phone and watching the news until it's nearly 11pm
Regret my choices
Go to bed

I'm still going until 9pm after getting kids in bed and tidying, preparing for the next day.

How do people find the time?

Son in bed by 7:30. Everything's pretty much done by then so I go straight to the sofa, or to bed to watch whatever until about 10

Get home at 7 (out for 12 h every day including commute).

On a good day, someone else has made dinner, on a bad day it is my turn, and we don't eat until 8pm. Tidy up, pet care, sort online shop or Bill's etc.

Sometimes have a walk or do a short workout. I may bath, do nails etc. Listen to podcasts, watch TV shows, read lots. I've knocked the wine on the head as that was becoming too frequent a weekday wind down. Occasionally I work late on my laptop or have an evening meeting.

In the 'before times' I would have at least one social engagement on a weeknight, dinner or shopping and a coffee, or theatre/cinema. Maybe a family meal out.

My weeknights have become so humdrum. I'm looking forward to joining a gym class, seeing a movie, going to a pub quiz very soon. I may join a real life book club or choir, although I'm worried I wont be able to commit the time.

Do you do other things while you cross stitch @N0PE ? Or is it all consuming?

Sometimes cooking(take turns with DH), bedtime routine with DD (19 mo), then video chat with sis in another country, then exercise bike while watching tv/netflix. Sometimes just tv if i cant be bothered with bike. The odd frantic tidy up/clean if house needs it. I used.to run or do garden but having DD put a stop to that mid week currently. Its 8.30 before i can realistically exercise so it may be possible at height of summer if DH home - he works long shifts currently. I work FT and not back til 6. Love looking forward to my nighttime peace and quiet with Netflix.

Finish work
Quick tidy
Go rowing or swimming or take kids rowing or cubs or music or running
Cook dinner
Eat dinner
Homework
Voluntary activities like parkrun planning
Walk dog
Tidy house
Often these activities have to overlap in a very chaotic way
Sometimes I just sack it all off & we go to the beach & have a couple of pints.

I do my marking, lesson prep, answer emails, do leadership stuff, squeeze in eating dinner, watch crap on tv (usually whilst marking etc). Most evenings I do my school work til about 9/10pm.

Weeknights - dinner, few episodes of something, fanny around on internet, go for a walk and listen to podcast, read then bed.

Weekends - Friday night is usually a film or musical rabbit hole on YouTube. Saturday, me and DH cook something nice then share a bottle of wine and read the papers. Try to have one night where we don’t automatically slump in front of the TV after putting DS to bed.

There are some great ideas here!
My DP works until 9 or 10 most nights and I’ve got into a bad habit of watching Strictly baby ballroom while waiting for him to get home Blush
I really should find a more productive use of my time

I'm ill currently, but normally:
6.30pm kids in bed. I sod around on the internet while husband prays. He comes down, we clean up kids dinner and cook ours. (Usually he cleans I cook, but sometimes we swap or team up.)
7.30pm eat our dinner
8pm final tidy downstairs. I might do some admin or sod around on the internet a bit more or we'll chat or read together on the sofa, but usually by 9pm we're in bed reading.
9.30pm lights out

I tend to do my "active recreation" during naptime. Writing fiction, at the moment - well, before I was ill, anyway.

Right now not doing very much. Its cold here in the North East so not much going out. The shops are busy too and my partner is not vaccinated. So we're reluctant to do much.

So right now, cleaning cooking TV and films, craft, tiktok, Web browsing. Pretty boring!

Lower standards?

I honestly couldn't live like that (just doing kids and cleaning until 9 or 10pm). Aren't you exhausted? I'd be beyond fed up and planning to run off and join a circus I think...

Walk the dog, cook the dinner, tidy a little then try and find something to watch on tv/YouTube while I knit, scroll through my phone and think about how I should really have rode my bike today.
I’m 16 weeks pregnant and my physical energy is low and I know a bike ride will help that but the sofa is more appealing
