To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

Don’t be ridiculous. Of course you still need to wear a mask - vaccination doesn’t stop you from passing it on, and not everyone has received their two jabs yet, so you need to consider those people who are still at risk.

AlternativePerspective · 29/04/2021 07:54

I haven’t rtft because A, the OP says everything, and B, fortunately the vote tells you you’re wrong.

Personally I think that masks will become a permanent fixture e.g. in flu season etc and I think that’s an excellent idea. They seem to manage to wear them everywhere else without constantly wining about it, so why is the UK so different.

For what it’s worth, I have a serious heart condition and am exempt from wearing a mask but I choose to wear one because I have actually spent time on a ventilator and on oxygen (not COVID related) and funnily enough I have no desire to repeat the experience.

And what is also interesting is that the amount of people I know who are exempt and yet who choose to wear a mask anyway is much higher than those who just bitch and complain and just tell staff they’re exempt regardless just because they don’t want to wear a mask.

Get a fucking grip.

schnubbins · 29/04/2021 07:58

Me , me, me and me.

Temp023 · 29/04/2021 08:01

Masks do bugger all in my opinion and on the opinion of a good number of doctors that I work with, but I will wear one as long as it makes other people comfortable.

ouchyouchyow · 29/04/2021 08:01

I'm not convinced that masks are effective. Especially the ones which are just a bit of cotton. Surgical ones probably a bit better

Will keep wearing if I have to.

Also the signing in with nhs test abs trace at pubs. That seems totally pointless. May as well write name on a card and throw straight in the bin

Temp023 · 29/04/2021 08:02

I think vaccination does stop you passing it on, for what it is worth.

JellyTots2009 · 29/04/2021 08:03

Your moaning about a mask less woman who didn't socially distance by you today? You are very protected from the virus. If you do catch it you probably won't know! Seeing as you are now fully vaccinated.

However, you want to go mask less. Let's hope the next younger person who hasn't had one jab yet doesn't get hospitalised, because you're too selfish to wear a mask around them.

You can catch it and can pass it on.

Have you not heard the Health experts say we do need to carry on wearing masks regardless of jab?

Wear a mask.

Lalliella · 29/04/2021 08:05

Are you completely thick? Do you not understand simple advice? Or are you just a goody fucker?

Figgygal · 29/04/2021 08:07

So all of the experts are saying you should continue to wear masks despite vaccination but you know better?

even though you’re vaccinated if you do catch Covid you’ll get it less severely but you can still give it to others who aren’t yet as lucky as you to have been vaccinated.
It’s not bloody difficult
Wear your bloody mask

EmeraldShamrock · 29/04/2021 08:07

Echoing others it is selfish behaviour considering the younger generation put their life on hold to minimise risk of infection in the older generation.

Nith · 29/04/2021 08:10

I've bought the things, I'm going to get my full money's worth out of them.

Globaluser · 29/04/2021 08:10

As long as your second jab was given after 2 weeks (the recommended time between vaccinations) then go for it. If not, then I’m afraid they may be less effective so therefore you’ll still need the mask.

YouJustDoYou · 29/04/2021 08:11

I'm asthmatic, wearing a mask doesn't affect that in the slightest, plus I love having half my face covered, it just personally for me makes me feel happier so I'll keep wearing one.

Zzpplant · 29/04/2021 08:12

They’re a pain to wear but I will wear one till told not to. I’m fully vaccinated but it’s not totally clear the virus can’t be transmitted and I imagine people who aren’t yet vaccinated would feel less vulnerable while everyone is wearing masks.

I have often looked at Far Eastern people wearing masks if they have colds or it’s flu season and thought what a good idea. I’ve always wanted to wear one but would never have dared. In future though I will as I think this awful year will have made their use seem less odd/OTT. I hate the wretched things but if they make covid, flu, colds harder to transmit/contract, then I’m up for that.

Spinningaround21 · 29/04/2021 08:14

Ffs it’s not forever, no one wants lockdowns or mask wearing to go on forever. Most of us want normality ASAP which is why we comply with the restrictions and get vaccinated! But the pandemic is still happening, yes cases are dropping amazingly but let’s not just get complacent. The pandemic is raging in other countries etc. We have a plan and it’s only 50+ days till June 21st.

Masks are about other people not just you.

I work on a ward and have worn a mask for 12.5 hours a day for the last year near enough. I can not wait for them to go, it hinders my job role and communication. It’s hot and sometimes I struggle with breathing when in a stressful situation. I’m also fully vaccinated. However I can’t see them being fully dropped for a good while in healthcare.

Breastfeedingworries · 29/04/2021 08:15

I get my second jap 12 today and I’m so excited 🥳🎉

Fieldsofstars · 29/04/2021 08:20

‘ Temp023

I think vaccination does stop you passing it on, for what it is worth.’

It’s worth nothing @Temp023
Vaccines never have and never will 100% prevent catching the relevant illness.
We still need other preventative measures.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/04/2021 08:22

people wont bother getting vaccinated either if they have an attitude like the op.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/04/2021 08:22

think about the rest of the world op

likeamillpond · 29/04/2021 08:23

@Clymene

It's strange that people in many far Eastern countries have been wearing masks for years and there have been no additional asthma deaths.

Weird

Good point.

Also, surgeons and other theatre staff seem ti manage ok. You can't tell me none of them suffer with asthma.

SpeakingFranglais · 29/04/2021 08:32

When they stop wearing them in the NHS (not referring to surgery here but every day nurses and HCPs) then I will. Until that time there is still a risk.

The NHS wont wear them in day to day jobs forever, the cost is too great and the government will stop providing the PPE at the earliest opportunity to save a few quid.

borntobequiet · 29/04/2021 08:36

YABU, selfish, ignorant and disrespectful of others for the many reasons already given.

RedcurrantPuff · 29/04/2021 08:41

I’m giving it until the summer, that’ll be a year of the pointless, wretched things, by which time the adult population should all have been offered a vaccine. I’ll have been fully vaccinated by then as well.

They look stupid, are uncomfortable and IMO don’t work anyway, it’s just tokenism. Most people’s are unwashed or the same disposable one used til it falls apart or they wear them under their nose. Pointless.

As I said on another thread I’m done with unelected scientists and corrupt governments telling me what to do.

swimlittlefishy · 29/04/2021 08:42

The ultimate "I'm alright Jack" attitude from OP. She's fully vaccinated so doesn't give a fuck about the rest of us who aren't.

Selfish gits.

swimlittlefishy · 29/04/2021 08:43

As I said on another thread I’m done with unelected scientists and corrupt governments telling me what to do

Why would scientists be elected and why would you put those two categories together? Another, "I don't trust experts" idiot.
