If you saw a pregnant woman pull down her mask for a few moments, would you confront her?

Had a woman confront me today I’m a supermarket for pulling my mask down for a few gulps of air. Suddenly felt very faint and breathless and just needed to suck in a few deep breaths, then returned the mask to my face.
Woman confronted me, accusing me of putting the whole store in danger and how people like me are the reason we are in this situation in the first place. She hadn’t confronted anyone else wearing lanyards, just me.

Was I being unreasonable? Should I have just left the store? Or was she being OTT.

I actually CANNOT believe we have a PREGNANT WOMAN asking WIBU to pull her mask down to BREATHE. What. On. Earth!? No suffocate to death for fear of infecting someone with a mild to moderate cold/flu like virus. Honestly, I really do despair.

@FluWorldOrder

Ah well, as long as your MIL didn't actually did of covid, that's of great comfort to people who have lost loved ones.

You are being insensitive and ignorant.

nopuppiesallowed · 01/05/2021 19:23

Flu? I would just like to remind you that there are over a million of us with Long Covid - but I've never heard of Long Flu. For most of us Long Covid means that when we breathe it's like breathing through a thick flannel. It means that a short walk for an 8 stone previously fit and active person makes me gasp and feel faint. I've had flu. This is NOTHING like flu. In all my life I've never known anyone die of flu or even been seriously ill with it. But so far, my father's ex partner has died of Covid and two of my distant relatives. Two people in my short road have spent a long time in hospital seriously ill with it. I repeat. This isnnothing like flu. And you think India has been struck down with something that's just like flu? And Brazil? Words absolutely fail me.

ilovesooty · 01/05/2021 19:31

@FluWorldOrder if you can't cope with MN any more please feel free to take your lack of decency and sensitivity elsewhere.

CosmicHeat · 02/05/2021 10:27

Facts do not care about feelings, they never have. That's why you have to leave emotions behind assume logic to work things out, which I know is difficult for many women. As I heard someone say, women have an emotion based CPU.

CosmicHeat · 02/05/2021 10:34

Btw if masks are so awesome at preventing spread, how come the rates went up during the winter, when the mask mandates were established in the summer?

The rates went up in the winter months and come down in the spring just like a normal flu season. Also if the various anti-covid steps are so effective it magically made the flu disappear yet did nothing for covid yet they function in the exact same way in terms of spread etc.? Explain these things, if you please.

Why would governments use fear, open a history book. Fear and othering has been used to control and subjugate populations for centuries. The techniques have merely become more refined. Look at everything you have willing given up because you fear.

Oh shut up.

My friends mother died of covid. No previous conditions. Taken within hours.

You can shove your facts and vile insensitivity.

CosmicHeat · 02/05/2021 12:09

@Butwasitherdriveway Again facts don't care. If it's insensitive to try and encourage critical thinking and free people from a fear narrative then fine I'm I sensitive. Your lack of logic astounds me. Can we not talk about reducing traffic deaths because people in the discussion have lost people in car accidents? Can we not talk about reducing the risk of child accidents and death because children have tragically died? Do we have to pontificate every time that every life is sacred and death is bad and sorry for your loss to have a reasoned discussion about the best way to handle situations that people have died and will died in for it to be acceptable?

CosmicHeat · 02/05/2021 13:18

Jesus Christ.

People on this thread have watched family members die. Nobody wants to hear you. Your vileness astounds me.

Exactly. But there is no point trying to explain this to some people. They just refuse to see it. Ego plays a part I suppose, Can't admit they're wrong.

In the UK, tens of thousands of people die of the flu every year. 'Long COVID' lol ok then! I hope you have the same care for the tens of thousands of people already injured by the COVID vaccine. No, didn't think so.
FluWorldOrder · 02/05/2021 14:40

Oh in that case re: your friends Mother @Butwasitherdriveway lets lock us all away for ever and ever Amen. Never before have the human race been so completely and utterly stupid and ignorant. All while holding a smart phone in their hand. Humans: outsourcing their own ability to think critically since the introduction of smart phones. The 'pandemic' is just the final nail in the coffin. Anyway, off to be tested for the flu! I have absolutely NO symptoms but I'll do it for shits and giggles. Once upon a time, not so long ago, I would have probably then been referred for a psychiatric assessment, but not now!

Ego?

No, I just don't prattle on about conspiracy theories while my friend is grieving.

You might be right, but id rather be wrong and not behaving like an absolute vile human being.

MummyJ12 · 02/05/2021 15:05

@FluWorldOrder and @CosmicHeat.
Your ignorance is simply astounding.
20k people a year die of flu, we’re a little more than that these past 12 months from deaths following a COVID-19 infection. Around 128k at the moment.
You have obviously both been very lucky to have not been significantly affected (if at all) by COVID-19.
My son is still poorly after having contracting pneumonia, an implication of his COVID infection last April. He is 13. All four of us at home were ill. Three of us, very much so. You wouldn’t be so vitriolic if you’d have endured what we have, along with literally millions of others around the world.
People “injured” by the vaccine? Studies have concluded that fewer people have been affected by blood clots than they would’ve expected from that percentage of the population.
A sore arm, and a bit of headache for a day or two. I’d take that any day of the week compared to how poorly we were and have been from our infection. I have only just been able to start running again but can’t run the long distances I did before. My husband has permanent lung damage. We were very fit and healthy when we fell ill. Please don’t insult me and many others on this thread whom have lost loved ones to this awful pandemic by your spurious conspiracy theories. You just don’t get it. You can’t admit you’re wrong obviously! Every medical professional, government and head of state in the world would agree with me, and not agree with you at all, so I would argue that it’s your ego that needs checking.

Butwasitherdriveway · 02/05/2021 15:06

I just hope that nobody in real life has to deal with these self centred, ignorant idiots while grieving.

GoddessKali · 02/05/2021 15:07

Exactly. It's bad enough that they have to encounter them on here.
Butwasitherdriveway · 02/05/2021 15:52

See when you are still dealing with a broken and bereaved person who has lost someone close to them to covid, and these people still think we are 'stupid, it geinds my gears.

How lucky they are not to have experienced this.

MummyJ12 · 02/05/2021 15:55

And when you have a 13 year old who can’t take part in PE because he now gets so breathless and isn’t living a full life.....

MummyJ12 · 02/05/2021 15:56

Can’t ride his bike to his friends’ houses. Can’t go to the park......

I would have left the shop but she was a tad ott.
