To ask how many bras you own?

Random question yes but how many?
I ask because I stopped breastfeeding 5 weeks ago (I'm heartbroken it's over but that's irrelevant) and don't want to be wearing maternity/nursing/unsupportive bras of course so I've just ordered myself some today. I've not gone mad, just from George but I've ordered 7. Couple of nicer lacie ones, but mainly just basic bras. Came up in conversation with DH (shared finances, no issues with me buying them at all) and he seemed surprised I'd bought so many. I guess before babies etc I just sort of accumulated bras...so would have different sizes in circulation which would get binned as I changed size/shape. This is a fresh bra start I suppose as I have none that fit.
Is 7 extravagant? I guess I just want to know if he has a point...

I found a bra I liked about 5 years ago and stocked up then and have rebought since, I have 8 of it in black, 2 in white and 2 nude. I plan to buy more of it as needed, it’s still available.
I also have a few other random bras I don’t wear, and about 5 sports bras I just wear for running.

Shopgirl1 · 15/04/2021 21:34

And I don’t think you are being unreasonable.

thistimelastweek · 15/04/2021 21:34

I have many bras but only four decent ones (2 black 2 flesh coloured).

They are from Rigby & Peller so a bit of an investment but well worth it.

ghostyslovesheets · 15/04/2021 21:36

3 sports - black, grey, white
Cream - push up - 2
Black push up (including lace and fancy!) 4
White - 2
Grey silk - 2
Strapless - 1
Saucy - various - about 6
skin coloured - 3
bralette style - 2

MorvaanReed · 15/04/2021 21:37

About ten. I've got comedically large breasts and I finally found the right combination of fit, support, comfort and price and bought ten quick before they turned out to be a figment of my imagination.

sanityisamyth · 15/04/2021 21:38

2 now as my 3rd one broke. Got a standard bra and a sports bra. Need to go bra shopping but they're £40 each 🙈😭

dementedpixie · 15/04/2021 21:40

Have you looked on the brastop website for cheaper ones?

Branleuse · 15/04/2021 21:40

Tonnes. Absolutely loads. But only a few fit and my size fluctuates. Also quite a few i bought online that have never fit and i keep meaning to sell them

Pviolet · 15/04/2021 21:44

3 sports, 5 work , 8 everyday, 12 that go with specific outfits and three random ones that I’ve somehow lost the knickers for (I like matching underwear) so won’t wear unless I find them again.

SpringItIsThen · 15/04/2021 21:45

It's bra and pants season here today, is it? Grin

SylviaPlath1984 · 15/04/2021 21:46

Hmm... maybe 10? Two I wear the most that are super comfy, another 2 That are sports type and 6 fancy ones that aren't the comfiest

DramaAlpaca · 15/04/2021 21:48

I have loads, in lots of different styles and colours for every occasion.

ZenNudist · 15/04/2021 21:48

12 without counting all the non wired and sports bras and excluding all the really fancy expensive ones that dont really fit me but I can't bear to throw away so I keep in a vacuum bag in a cupboard

SylviaPlath1984 · 15/04/2021 21:48

Oh I forgot bralettes... maybe about 5-6 of those so 15ish altogether

Thomasina79 · 15/04/2021 21:49

At my advanced age (!) I have struggled with bras through the years. I have recently discovered some which are comfortable (jersey material), the right size, which is much bigger than those I wore before, and which I can pull on over my head. This has made me happy, so I Went on to buy seven more. Ahh the bliss of having a fresh one everyday, with the knowedge I will be comfortable all day. I am sure the make I have discovered won’t suit everybody, but for me they have made such a difference in my day to day comfort. For context I am on the larger size, so most makes are not made for ladies like me.

MamaBearThius · 15/04/2021 21:51

Not a bra troll Hmm
It's been 5 weeks since I last fed, after 9 months of feeding, I figured they'd be their new normal shape now?
If they all fit and I like them all when they arrive then I'll be keeping them. I've guessed my size (36G) as I was a 34G before but have still got a layer or two of baby tub that hasn't fallen off yet. So an awkward size to find just anywhere. I may keep just a couple and save up for a fitting a few decent ones in a few months time...
Nice to see the disparity between 3 and 40 Grin maybe I did get carried away with 7 in one go. I'm just sick of rewashing the same things almost daily

4- 2 everyday, 1 sports, one lacy
How many I wear 1 (sports bra). I am dreading not wearing a coat going out.

Silverfly · 15/04/2021 21:53

Three normal bras, two sports bras.

IWantMyHoney · 15/04/2021 21:54

3

dementedpixie · 15/04/2021 21:54

36G has a bigger cup size than 34G. Do you think both your back and cup size have increased?

Try the boob or bust measuring guide for an idea of size

HairyPits · 15/04/2021 21:55

1 sports bra that I wear only for yoga and Pilates. Hasn’t seen the light of day for a year due to Covid.
I’m around a D/DD cup, but I haven’t worn a bra, for everyday wear, for years now.

It’s much more comfortable and freeing without.
Go without pants also, unless I’m wearing leggings (chafing).

MakingPlans21 · 15/04/2021 21:59

@Shelvesoutofbooks same here. Mostly as matching sets with knickers and suspended belts etc. I have soent a small fortune on lingerie. My partner approves!

MakingPlans21 · 15/04/2021 21:59

*suspender 🤣

Youcunnyfunt · 15/04/2021 22:00

7 bras... 11 sports bras / non underwired... there I was thinking I didn't have many Grin

serin · 15/04/2021 22:02

Loving those with 40 or 50!! I just wouldnt have the room.

I have 6 that actually fit and about 10 more exciting ones that fitted the slimmer version of me and that I literally bust out of.
