To think he might need to go to hospital? Don’t look at the image if you’re eating

Long story short, DH ended up with this nasty graze after playing sport at the weekend.

It’s hot, he’s in agony, but we’re not sure whether to just let him ride it out. He covered it in Savlon this morning (which apparently you’re not supposed to do) and so it’s been wet and bandaged all day while he’s been at work. I tried one of those GP video call things but they’re closed now. Wondering whether it’s worth a trip to the hospital or just wait for it to heal? We don’t want to waste anyone’s time!

Glad he’s been seen OP, looks really sore.
Glad he didn’t have to poo at the pharmacist though, although maybe he’ll be able to have a go with one of the nurses at A&E 😂😂

MNWorldisCrazy · 12/04/2021 21:20

Glad you took him to hospital OP. Please update us later? Brew

TulipsTwoLips · 12/04/2021 21:21

They gave me chloramphenicol. I'm not suggesting you do it though, just saying what they gave me!

Meowchickameowmeow · 12/04/2021 21:21

Pop to a pharmacist!

1Morewineplease · 12/04/2021 21:23

Ah bollox... I meant 'pop' not 'poo'

Trumplosttheelection · 12/04/2021 21:24

If he's got a temp they might keep him in for IV antibiotics. He will be fine so don't be alarmed if they decide to do that. Skin infections can be really nasty and move fast.

MrsMaizel · 12/04/2021 21:24

@1Morewineplease

Could he poo to a pharmacist? They would be best placed to advise as they could see the wound first hand.
😂😂😂😂😂 sorry but it is funny
ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 12/04/2021 21:25

Oh gosh your poor DH. I'm glad he's being seen to. Take care OP

Tinydinosaur · 12/04/2021 21:26

I'd leave it to dry and scab. Grazes are usually hot I think.

justasking111 · 12/04/2021 21:26

Glad you went, that looks nasty

megletthesecond · 12/04/2021 21:26

Poor chap. Helpfully they'll sort him out overnight.

KeyboardWorriers · 12/04/2021 21:27

Glad he is being seen Op. Am surprised Some people were minimising this, infections can escalate quickly.

Very glad he didn't poo to a pharmacist Grin

Tinydinosaur · 12/04/2021 21:29

@Tinydinosaur

I'd leave it to dry and scab. Grazes are usually hot I think.
Sat on the page too long and missed the update. Genuinely surprised but glad he's getting it sorted. (I may have had to have surgery before for an infected wound and apparently haven't learnt my lesson!)
normalsaline · 12/04/2021 21:34

Oh, well I’m glad you didn’t take my advice then! Hope he’s sorted soon

Tistheseason17 · 12/04/2021 21:35

Glad you're getting help with him, OP, phew!

Indoctro · 12/04/2021 21:36

Ouch that looks painful

B1rthis · 12/04/2021 21:38

Drink lots of water.
Clean it.
Leave it exposed/no dressing whilst at home.
Ring 111 tonight, no joy... Ring GP in the morning.
Take paracetamol.

Afishcalledwonderful · 12/04/2021 21:39

Poor chap. Glad you got him to the hospital and hope he's feeling better soon.

Notavegan · 12/04/2021 21:41

I'm also surprised at the minimising. That's a large area for a wound.

Alternista · 12/04/2021 21:42

God that looks so sore, poor bastard!

Grazes aren’t deep but they are bloody painful and that’s a LOT of skin to be missing! Glad he’s getting checked out, especially if he’s feverish and it’s oozing. Hope they send him home on ABx and he can get a dose of those inside him along with some painkillers and get a bit of sleep tonight x

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 12/04/2021 21:43

Oh good. Glad you went to A&E.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/04/2021 21:45

Chuck the savlon, biggest marketing con since cough syrup.

Zzpplant · 12/04/2021 21:50

Glad he’s gone to get it checked. The area feeling hot rang bells more than the pain. Most bad grazes are painful but not usually hot. Hope he’s soon much more comfortable. Looks grim.

GreenTeaBlackCoffeeAndRedWine · 12/04/2021 21:50

I was going to say A&E too, glad you went.

I'm crying of laughter at poo to a pharmacist, made my night that has😂😂

wishywashywoowoo70 · 12/04/2021 21:56

@belle40

That looks like a degloving injury (has taken skin off). I would take any solutions off and go to your local walk in clinic. He may develop cellulitis and infection (may have already started if red and swollen).
Gosh that's in no way a degloving injury. If you want to see degloving google some images. Not a pretty sight
