AIBU to eat 2?

I want your honest opinion as I fear I might be being greedy..
I bought a pack of sea bass. You get 2 fillets in a pack. Now, I would say that is for 1 person?!

Someone I work with says it should be 1 fillet per person.
There are 109cal in 1 fillet. That's not enough for an adult for dinner is it?!
I shall be serving with either salad or possibly a bit of roasted veg if that helps.
Hmm

It's fish. Why are you concerned about portion control? How bad can eating slightly more fish be?

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/04/2021 17:21

@iklboo
No, no, just the massive salad.
In fact the salad was bigger than the tuna.

Isaidnope · 12/04/2021 17:22

I eat both fillets of salmon in the pack and always have done, I wouldn’t be full if not.

Isaidnope · 12/04/2021 17:23

I’m also the only person who eats salmon in our house and it’s unlikely I’d remember to eat the second fillet if I left it so it’s less wasteful to eat both in one sitting.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 12/04/2021 17:24

@emilyfrost

I would say two is greedy and that it’s one per person.
Since when did eating just over 200 calories and approx 200 grams of fish constitute greed ffs?
Dixiechickonhols · 12/04/2021 17:25

2 definitely

GreyhoundG1rl · 12/04/2021 17:27

Two is only greedy if we're talking about entire chocolate cakes.

kowari · 12/04/2021 17:29

One is a normal serving, you would normally add potatoes or rice or similar if the fish and vegetables was not enough. If you can afford it then you can eat two if you want to though.

  • The Atlantic bluefin tuna is a species of tuna in the family Scombridae. It is variously known as the northern bluefin tuna, giant bluefin tuna [for individuals exceeding 150 kg ], and formerly as the tunny. Atlantic bluefins are native to both the western and eastern Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Mediterranean Sea. Wikipedia Mass: 220 – 250 kg*

That must have been a huge bloody salad 😄

Sounds like an average sized meal to me!
IHaveBrilloHair · 12/04/2021 17:40

Zackly innit.
Bloody good meal that was. Grin

FangsForTheMemory · 12/04/2021 17:43

I don't think you need to worry about portion control in this instance. If you were cooking for two, then maybe one each, but if you've just cooking for yourself, then why not eat them both while they are at their freshest?

Atalune · 12/04/2021 17:46

One each. Lots of veg. Yum.

TidyDancer · 12/04/2021 17:46

I don't eat sea bass but I have a similar serving of smoked haddock and I only ever have one but that's because I have it with other stuff. There's nothing wrong with having two at all.

MintLampShade · 12/04/2021 17:59

DH and I share them. Have lots of steamed vegetables / mash or some kind of sauce with it. I've always thought that's what you are supposed to do. Of course that doesn't mean we couldn't eat two each 😂

Chanjer · 12/04/2021 18:25

I bought this kinda thing yesterday and served 1 fillet each but also king prawns and linguine

pigglepot · 12/04/2021 18:43

I would probably have one but always with something carby not just veg. So risotto/stir fry/potatoes/rice plus some veg. I definitely don't have small portions! If I was just having veg I would need more than one fillet to feel full but I would never not have a carb 😂

Nubbin · 12/04/2021 18:56

I've just made sea bass for my 11 year old - 2 fillets, rice and salad - otherwise as tea 1 would be pretty light. We load protein over carbs though.

Deereamer · 12/04/2021 19:04

I thought this thread was going to be about cream buns or bars of dairy milk Blush

Oysterbabe · 12/04/2021 19:05

I would have 1 with other stuff simply because DH would have the other. I could eat both no problem.

superram · 12/04/2021 19:13

I said yanbu but we only eat one each as they are expensive. I could eat 4!

MadeOfStarStuff · 12/04/2021 19:25

I only eat one but have it with plenty of veg and either rice or potatoes. But if you’re only having salad or veg with it then I think 2 is fine.

DishingOutDone · 12/04/2021 19:36

109 calories of fish. Really? You’re concerned about 109 calories worth of fish. And some posters saying yes only eat one. Ffs.

Some posters would claim you could feed a family of 5 for a week with that, and still have enough to fill the dog's bowl.
AriseMyPretties · 12/04/2021 19:59

I like a bit of McVities Jamaican Ginger cake with a bit of custard. Not sophisticated, don't pretend to be.

The cake is 225 grams. Sainsbury's website says a serving is 25 grams. It is a small dense cake. You ought to see what that looks like, absolutely fucking ridiculous is what, not even two spoons full of cake. DH and I eat half of the cake each which consists of two small quarter inch pieces of cake so not exactly greedy but if you go by suggested portion size, we are.

My point?

Suggested portion/serving sizes are absolute bullshit. They are purely there to make overpriced food seem cheaper or junk/high calorie food appear healthier.

I read a post on another forum where someone was incredulous that a recommended adult serving size for cheap chicken nuggets was ONE fucking nugget.

Eat what you want OP. The world is full of marketing bullshit and cunty people who want to make you feel bad about yourself for wanting to eat a whole peanut.
