AIBU to eat 2?

I want your honest opinion as I fear I might be being greedy..
I bought a pack of sea bass. You get 2 fillets in a pack. Now, I would say that is for 1 person?!

Someone I work with says it should be 1 fillet per person.
There are 109cal in 1 fillet. That's not enough for an adult for dinner is it?!
I shall be serving with either salad or possibly a bit of roasted veg if that helps.
Hmm

I would not eat two partly due to cost, but I would have potatoes or chips and lots of broccoli and carrots with it. Perhaps that's why you and your work colleague are seeing things differently - you'd just have salad with it so could easily eat two, they'd have potatoes and veggies and just have one?

emilyfrost · 12/04/2021 15:19

I would say two is greedy and that it’s one per person.

SofiaMichelle · 12/04/2021 15:25

Of course you should gobble them both down in an instant eat them both!

(Assuming cost isn't an issue.)

Oldraver · 12/04/2021 15:29

I haven't bought sea bass but love salmon

I don't know who decided those inch wide strips are a portion but they are so stingy.

I think probably they were initially that size to make the seem affordable

AnniesAmazingEyebrows · 12/04/2021 16:10

Eating them both isn't greedy.
Sharing two between two adults also isn't competitive under eating with.

There's times I'd eat them both.
There's times I'd share with dh. Depends on what we have had a for lunch and how hungry we are and what we plan to have with them.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 12/04/2021 16:15

Of course it is! The scent alone should fill you for a week, but only if you have a MASSIVE salad and unlimited veg with it. No one needs to eat fish or anything besides massive salads and unlimited veg.

Gwenhwyfar · 12/04/2021 16:15

@Cocomarine

I think it’s one of those decisions that you have to make for yourself 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you really allow your colleagues’ opinions to have an actual impact on what you choose to eat?

Not OP obviously, but there are plenty of people who've lost all sight of healthy portion size.
Suzi888 · 12/04/2021 16:16

Eat the two.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 12/04/2021 16:20

Obesity crisis! Won't someone think of the NHS? We've lost sight of normal portion sizes. Back in the 50s, 70s, time of Black Plague no one was fat. 'Greedy' - what a shit term to apply to perfectly good food.

Armi · 12/04/2021 16:24

@emilyfrost

I would say two is greedy and that it’s one per person.
Greedy? It’s a skinny sliver of fish!

I fucking hate that word.

OP - you’re an adult. Make your own decision. It’s a 109 calorie piece of fish. You’ve probably burned up twice that fretting about whether to eat it!

BraveGoldie · 12/04/2021 16:27

Oh I struggle with sea bass! It's titchy but two feels a bit too much if you are also having carbs and is also fairly pricey if everybody gets a packet of 2! .... but one is gone in a jiffy and the other doesn't stay fresh for long if you are eating alone. My ideal would be to have a pack of three to divide between two! Salmon fillets are much chunkier and I'd only have one of those!

osbertthesyrianhamster · 12/04/2021 16:32

Oh, god, with carbs?! Carbs?! Surely no one who isn't about to go on My 600lb Life eats carbs?! Massive salad and unlimited veggies, but not white potatoes or carrots, which are sugar bombs.

I would say you've probably not read the full thread where the OP has given the weights of the fillets & calorie count, or other people's posts about NHS guidelines on eating fish. It's bloody sea bass, not a whole tuna.

I actually did eat a whole tuna, but it's fine, I also had a massive salad, my kid only likes milk or water to drink, her favourite food is chickpeas mixed with olives and she's a total fruitbat lolxx

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/04/2021 16:50

We have two. Dh cooks them with lime juice and zest and orange juice and zest, and we have them with rice and samphire. It is delicious.

Did you consult the NHS first? I hope you're flogging yourself after for eating white carbs. Grin
PussGirl · 12/04/2021 16:52

I always cook two each - they look great served with one flesh-side up & the other showing the crispy skin just like in a restaurant Smile

OwlBasket · 12/04/2021 16:53

Hmm if you were buying the fish whole you’d get one fish per person, possibly of varying sizes. Surely? Serving half a wee fish is just odd, unless it’s for a small child.

cravingmilkshake · 12/04/2021 16:53

Husband and I have one each with veg and potatoes . I couldn't eat two .

Yes well you bloody would, wouldn't you...
iklboo · 12/04/2021 17:11

A whole tuna @IHaveBrilloHair - flipping heck! That's some going. I hope you didn't have pudding as well?!

SquirrelFan · 12/04/2021 17:16

I think it depends. If it's just you in the house, eat them both, because there's no way you'll fancy that oldish filet in the fridge (or freezer), particularly if you are as bad at labelling leftovers as I am, and it'll just go to waste. It might be a biggish dinner (depending on what your normal is), but some meals are large, some are small!
