Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

DD is 4. She wears clean pants and vest every night (no vest in summer), she has a bath or shower every night, we change her PJs every second night (unless they need to be changed sooner).

cookiecreampie · 09/04/2021 20:40

When going on holiday I would normally take 2 or 3 pairs each and go to a launderette a couple of times if there's no washing machine. Taking 7 pairs each is excessive and I only have 4 kids.

Tiredmum100 · 09/04/2021 20:48

In answer to your original op. YABU. Dc change their pj's every 3rd night, more often in I think they smell. They'd happily keep wearing them. They shower every night before bed. I change mine every 2nd or 3 Rd night, or more often if I've been having hot flushes in the night! I honestly think life is too short to be iorning. I couldn't fit it in between everything at the moment anyway!

Nogoodusername · 09/04/2021 20:51

Yep! Clean pair every night since they were babies, now oldest is almost a teen

Marjoriesdoor · 09/04/2021 21:02

Bath, hair wash and fresh pyjamas every night here for my two! Sorry Mumsnet!

KingdomScrolls · 09/04/2021 21:12

Is it just my two year old who gets porridge/yogurt/fruit/poached egg etc all down the front of their pyjamas at breakfast every morning? I purposefully don't get him washed and dressed until after he's eaten and dropped food all over his sweaty pyjamas from the night before

Would you not use an apron or bib?! Surely that's common sense pjs or other clothes.

I think Op's being a bit 'economical with the truth' regarding her holiday luggage

I absolutely am not! The only thing I omitted was footwear, towels and swimwear

My toddler eats breakfast in just a nappy for this very reason. Then it’s just her tummy I need to scrub weetabix off.
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 09/04/2021 22:55

ohhhhh - you meant matching as in tops and bottoms matching!
I thought you meant that your PJs had to match your partners.

Usually wear PJs/nightshirt when wandering round getting ready for bed, PJ trousers not worn in bed, get too hot, so tops/nightshirts taken off before I try to get to sleep, so yes, do get used a few times.

unchienandalusia · 09/04/2021 23:01

When I remember here OP. But mine are 9 and 11 now. When babies and toddlers (ie still in nappies) yes clean every night.

Could not be arsed with that now and certainly not good for the environment!

nokidshere · 09/04/2021 23:11

No one wears anything in bed here - much more user friendly!

Hoolihan · 09/04/2021 23:17

Some people just really love making tedious work for themselves.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 09/04/2021 23:21

Baths and hair washed every night.. Small children, and their skin and hair, really don't benefit from this at all.. But mine are definitely among the great unwashed but don't smell, clothes don't smell and they're not dirty. Pj change 2/3 times a week as necessary. My pj's do me a few nights. But if it was unhygienic.... What would happen to me? Not a joke. I mean if don't smell, is there a problem with not being perfectly clean all the time?

OP I can't imagine why you didn't think there'd be a reaction to the environmental side of it.. It's unnecessarily wasteful, deliberately and consistently so, so yes, people will judge it.

Lastnightidreamtofmanderley · 09/04/2021 23:24

Clean every night but not always matching as they are now 12 and 15 so they put on what they feel comfortable in

KingdomScrolls · 09/04/2021 23:38

@GojiberryStar he gets food underneath/around them, bibs worked when he was a baby and I was helping, but now he does it all himself it's a different story... I've tried the big painting coverall things but he takes them off. I do tend to strip him when the weather is warmer but it takes a while for our kitchen to warm up in the mornings.

KingdomScrolls · 09/04/2021 23:40

@ChristinaYang10 oh Weetabix sets like cement! In the summer he often eats in just a nappy/pants in the garden and then I can hose the area down (and occasionally the child)

1Dandelion1 · 09/04/2021 23:44

I bought 4 plain black cotton pj bottoms and quality cotton black t-shirts, everything matches and is changed every night.

Itsnotyouitsmeiswear · 09/04/2021 23:47

When younger (unless spilt milk/pop etc down them) they would last a couple/few nights, now they’re sweaty teens, fresh every night! And they’ve always had to match, kids and husband laugh at me about this! Husband wears his a few times, I get hot and sweaty in bed so fresh each night unless I’ve stripped off before actually falling asleep then I’ll wear them again!

cachedelete · 09/04/2021 23:54

This thread can't be real?
DD (5) gets told off for picking new pyjamas after a day (unless some sort of accident/spill is involved).

Strokethefurrywall · 09/04/2021 23:55

Fuck no. Life is too short to be worrying about matching pajamas (or even clean ones every night), far more interesting things to be doing.

Pyewackect · 10/04/2021 02:58

My 18 &16 daughters don’t wear anything, even in winter. My 14 son wears T shirt and shorts. He’s old enough to know when he needs clean stuff on.

user1497787065 · 10/04/2021 05:32

I thought clean PJs every night was standard like having clean knickers and socks. My DC always had both and to divide opinion further I ironed them.
