Clean PJ's? Lighthearted

Do your DC wear clean (matching optional) PJs every night?

I'm a little bit ott about it but for me they have to match and must be fresh every night but after another thread about laundry and a discussion with DP apparently I'm weird??

YABU ... You can wear PJs for a few nights (shudder)

YANBU ... clean, fresh, matching PJs every night!

Fascinated. OP I'm curious - how often do you wash bedsheets? Can I ask how often you do laundry? Genuinely not trying to stir the pot, I'm just amazed at how you keep such standards with 7 kids. Are you a SAHM? How do you have time for Mumsnet? I think I'd crash on the bed at 7pm every night if I was you! I think everyone needs to chill.

OP is doing what she wants to do to look after her children. Her choice. Yes there are environmental factors to consider here, but I'm not sure nastiness is the best way of getting that point across. Why must every post descend into a row.

Wow. I have cleaning/washing OCD and DS bedsheets, sleeping bag and PJs all changed once a week 😂 DH changes his PJs weekly too, I’m more frequent as get v sweaty.

Honestly thought we were normal. Apparently not!

daisypond · 10/04/2021 08:17

I would be cross if my DC picked out fresh PJs every day. They would be made to put them back.

Mylovelyhorsee · 10/04/2021 08:19

I change my own every two days but my kids wear clean matching every night. It’s a throwback from a clean baby grow every night I think.

rabbitheadlights · 10/04/2021 09:05

I change the sheets once a week, yes I am a SAHM DS2 has complex additional needs so it wasn't possible for me to go back to work.

But seriously I will explain again it's not a hygiene thing, I'm obviously not explaining it very well but it's more about promoting a good night's sleep, obviously I would have clean sheets daily if I could but that's just not doable for me, but showered, clean PJ's then bed and I feel better, and sleep better. It's definitely not OCD as suggested up thread, OCD is a serious and debilitating condition.

This is just a quirk of mine, the kids often wear jeans/hoodies etc for 2 or 3 days. I just want them to go to bed clean and fresh. I've tried not doing it, but I don't like it, it puts me on edge.

@CkFa I do a lot of laundry but honestly the PJ's are just a drop in the ocean it really doesn't make that much difference.

Yes fresh PJ's daily. Always match.
Hate it when PJ's do not match.

WaterBottle123 · 10/04/2021 09:26

Clean PJ's everyday really is a check your privilege situation. Very few people have the resources (in the world, not Mumsnet world) to do this. What is it you all imagine will happen from a few skin cells? A little sweat?

Wasteful and bizarre and teaches DC weird priorities

RampantIvy · 10/04/2021 10:22

DD is a student. There is no way she is putting clean PJs on every night Grin
Her PJs are T-shirt and leggings (knickers on underneath, and clean every day)

bishbashbosh99 · 10/04/2021 10:29

Ok, looks like I'm pretty disgusting

wendz86 · 10/04/2021 10:31

Mine wear clean ones every night , not even sure why as i wear mine 2 nights in a row. The kids seem to sweat loads in the night so maybe that's why i started doing it.

LookAChicken · 10/04/2021 10:33

Try turning the heating down or open trickle vents on windows.

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 10:36

In my house, everyone puts on clean underwear every morning.

So yes, everyone put on a clean pj every evening too.

No need for underwear at night. I have a machine and I don't iron underwear, so it's hardly work.

Everybody showers or bath every evening too. My kids go out every day, they get grubby. I don't roll in mud, but I cook etc , I can't stand the idea of going to bed dirty.

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 10:37

I love the competitive MN posters, never fail to disappoint. Grin

JeanneDoe · 10/04/2021 10:38

Every 2 or 4 nights unless I can’t find the Inés from the night before. Rarely matching but mainly because she is skinny so the bottoms are always too big around the waist while the top is fine.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 10:39

Wow the environmental impact is huge from you OP.
You're lucky to be a SAHM that has time to do all this washing and ironing. No way would we be able to do this working FT.

rabbitheadlights · 10/04/2021 10:49

@HercwasanEnemyofEducation lucky? I'm SAHM out of necessity as DS needs are too high. Obviously if that weren't the case and I was working FT again I may have to rethink.

How long does it take you to plonk a few pjs in a machine? Confused

I have 4 kids and I have a full time job. Still manage to do laundry (and waste time on MN!)

thebillyotea · 10/04/2021 10:54

rabbitheadlights
when the people pretending they are too busy to do xyz are still wasting hours on MN, I wouldn't take them too seriously...

BadMudda · 10/04/2021 10:55

My children wear clean PJs every single day, yes.

Nobody else's business but since you asked, yes they do.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 10:57

7 kids x7 pjs =49 pairs a week. That's over a load just on pjs. I only wash 4-5 loads a week with 2 kids, not got a drier.

Perhaps lucky is the wrong word, I missed your DS needs. You're in a position where you have time to wash/dry that many pjs. Lots of people aren't.

Flowers24 · 10/04/2021 10:57

Never heard of clean pjs every night ? no way Id be washing forever!

BagLadyy · 10/04/2021 10:58

Mine goes a few nights in the same PJs. As fo myself and DH.

We go to bed clean and wash in the morning.

Flowers24 · 10/04/2021 10:58

Looks like the votes speak, yes you can wear pjs for a few days, with underwear of course !

Flowers24 · 10/04/2021 10:59

What adults sleep in pjs? Sounds unbearable, just knickers for me ....
