It's doing my head - and my scrolling finger - in.

OP posts:
CuriousaboutSamphire · 05/04/2021 17:40

@CateTown

It adds nothing to the conversation to just type This.
I'm on my phone. I can't select a sentence or two; @username doesn't work and I can't see any other posts once I start typing.

So I use the nice new quote function to make it clear what I am referring to.

Scroll on...

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2021 17:41

Everyone was desperate for the quote function too. Grin

Exhausted4ever · 05/04/2021 17:42

@DramaAlpaca

If I come on to a thread to comment and see that someone has already said what I was going to say, instead of tediously typing out what would be pretty much a repetion of their post, I'll quote them and say I agree with them. I honestly can't see what's wrong with that.

@Giantrooster

I would like to complain that I can't quote an already quoted post. What kind of fuckery is that?

So many posts on this thread i could have quoted, if I wasn't too lazy Grin.

This x 1000
Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 05/04/2021 17:43

@PurpleWh1teGreen

There's no facility on Mumsnet to like posts though.

Sometimes - actually frequently- a previous posters says what I want to say, but so much more eloquently.

So why not say "what Elgobbo said on page 2" ?

Everybody moans on MN

This. It's been moany week. Personally I want those Zombie threads sorted, I want AIBUs to actually have an AIBU and not be in there 'for traffic' and I really don't want a Like button. But TBF that's not just this week actually. grin

I don't care about quoted posts and 'this' though.

I want GFs sent to their own special place in hell along with creative writers who are aiming for self-publication (via Classics obvs) and nasty threads started to show posters' superiority with language use. (Though tbf, those tend to show the opposite after a while)
Shall we start our own stompyfooty "my way is right" thread, Sparks?

Oh and I agree with you as well @Geamhradh but you've got a quote in your post so I can't quote you.

How do you do this? Is it just copy-paste?

Sorry couldn't help myself!! But yes I wish there was a like button because like you have said some posters say exactly what I would have said but better and I like to show it support.

CateTown · 05/04/2021 17:52

@EarringsandLipstick

Well you're wrong.

This is probably meant humorously, but it's not coming across that way, tbh.

Your problem, not mine.

Because I'd quote you and you'd quote me and then I'd quote Sparks and she'd quote somebody else and the OP's head would crossly explode.
EarringsandLipstick · 05/04/2021 17:53

My phone will only let me copy and paste one word at a time

If this is the case, you have a phone problem!

But I don't think so! Once you click 'select' it will choose 1 word. But then you can drag the bars at either side of the selection to select a block of text, which you can then copy & paste.

IM’s so crap with technology, so @EarringsandLipstick 😂

Giantrooster · 05/04/2021 17:59

Well, I may just as well give up. I'm foreign 🙄 so the grammar police and spelling police will be relieved.

I'm much too lazy to type out husband, mumsnet etc etc etc (thread this week).

I even use the wrong emojies, one thread said only mn emojies were appropriate.

And now I can't even quote gallore 🤣.

Fembot123 · 05/04/2021 17:59

So sorry not so

There's nothing wrong with a "like" button. The Daily Mail have made people snobbish about it. Like it's beneath us Grin
