Is this weird or am I a slattern

I think it totally fine to wash tee towels in with clothes washing .
My partner thinks they should be washed separately on a hot wash.
He thinks it just not right to have tee towels and underwear washed together as its unhygienic.
My clothes washing is on a 40 degrees wash.
Tell me Im not mad .
Happy Easter everyone.

I always wash all my towels together, including bath towels, so can’t see the issue? I do this just so it’s easy to separate!!

CustardySergeant · 05/04/2021 17:44

@DanielRicciardosSmile

I don't wash towels or tea towels in with clothes, but that's because they go on a higher temperature.
Same here. Towels and tea towels 90 degree wash, bed linen 60 degrees, clothes 40 degrees.
Lalliella · 05/04/2021 17:48

But things come out clean! That’s the point of a washing machine! I Chuck everything in together at 30° so I’m super-slatternly. But green!

Toomuchtrouble4me · 05/04/2021 17:49

You’re normal

Sophicles · 05/04/2021 17:51

This is just personal, but there is a possibility you're slightly slatternly,
but then, who isn't?

caringcarer · 05/04/2021 17:53

I put tea towels in with towels on a 60 degrees wash. I wash white bedding on 60 too but I do put in white knickers with those sometimes. Colours go on to 50 in my house. I only wash delicates at 40 degrees. My adult sons who live at home do the same as me because that is what I have taught them. I often pre soak in biotex too.

Pollydolly17 · 05/04/2021 17:57

I just wash my tea towels together on a really hot wash. Just couldn’t put them in with everything else.

Hufflepuffmamma · 05/04/2021 17:58

I’m only here to ask why the hell a slattern is....

Hufflepuffmamma · 05/04/2021 17:59

What Grin

LaPampa · 05/04/2021 17:59

All kitchen towels, dish clothes, tea towels, napkins and the hand towels from the bathrooms get washed at 60c once a week. Then one load of bath mat and bath towels at 60c plus all the bedding. Clothes get washed at 40, 30 or cold depending what they are.

roxanne119 · 05/04/2021 18:10

Have to admit every so often I would do a separate wash of tea towels at a hotter wash of 60 . But this is because I like them to be slightly cleaner than hubby gets them 😊

Viviennemary · 05/04/2021 18:15

I'm with your DP. Underwear and tea towels.Shock

Talia99 · 05/04/2021 18:20

I do them with a towel wash but that’s because I don’t use fabric conditioner on my towels. I always use fabric conditioner on my regular wash and I’ve found including a towel makes said towel fairly useless for drying plates etc.

skodadoda · 05/04/2021 18:21

@Crazycatstory

I wash them separately, mostly because I do them hotter, and I don’t use softener with them (they, and towels, dry better without it).
Same here, on 60 with my white cotton briefs. Same as you about fabrics conditioner.
FedNlanders · 05/04/2021 18:22

Mumsnet hates it but I even wash washable sanitary products in with towels (on hotter wash but 50 or 60 not 90) and if tea towels need washing they get bunged in wherever, even on a 30 if thats whats on next

littlebillie · 05/04/2021 18:25

I tend to iron tea towels hot to ensure they are bacteria free after washing

Augustmummy · 05/04/2021 18:25

I always wash tee towels, bath towels, underwear and my toddlers clothes together at 60 degrees because I don't feel 40 gets things clean enough. Also add a bit of the Dettol clothes cleaner liquid to my 60 degree washes. Everything else goes in at 40.

SupremeDreamz · 05/04/2021 18:25

I am a bit tired and read this as "wee towels" XD Not as in small.

Notagoodtime · 05/04/2021 18:26

I’m with your bf. Tea towels at 95 on separate wash I used to cringe when i used to see my neighbours husbands grim looking pants hanging on the line with tea towels.

Nearly47 · 05/04/2021 18:32

Tea towels at 60 or 90 degrees. Sometimes with bleach. They grow bacteria because they stay damp.

pam290358 · 05/04/2021 18:34

A long time since I’ve heard the word ‘slattern’ !! And no, you’re not - 40 degrees is fine and in with the clothes. I also saw a PP which said don't use fabric conditioner - I thought this was only for towelling. Cotton should be fine, or am I missing something ?

ShinyGreenElephant · 05/04/2021 18:34

Everything goes in together including the nappies. Does that make me a slattern?

Alsohuman · 05/04/2021 18:41

I’m not sure. It does make me feel sick though.
JosephineBaker · 05/04/2021 18:46

I'm a slattern and an (old style) slut. I not only wash everything together but have also occasionally forgotten about it and had to wash it again 2 days later at a higher temp.

I think I might be irredeemable.

Tessabelle74 · 05/04/2021 18:46

I put mine in with whatever load I'm doing at the time. I separate by colour, not by use
