AIBU to *not* eat the egg?!

So on Thursday afternoon we got in after a half term day out (walking) and a parcel was waiting on my porch.
It was addressed to ‘The Lazydoll Family’ with a typed label and delivered first class Royal Mail.
Assuming it was an Easter gift it sat in the lounge until today when I thought it was probably wrapped inside so should open it so I could thank the sender and say we’d ‘unwrap’ tomorrow.
Inside was an Easter egg.
Just in its box.
No message.
No card.
No idea where or who it’s from.
I’ve messaged all the usual suspects.
Nada.
We are a family of 5.
4 of them are happy to share the egg.
I cannot do this if I DON’T KNOW WHO IT’S FROM?!?!
Eat the egg?
Don’t eat the egg?
That is the question!!!!
Help prevent an Easter family feud (it IS a G&B Organic Milk).....

This explanation has delighted me more than anything for quite a while.

Happy Easter! and bide your time

balloonsintrees · 04/04/2021 16:32

@TheNestedIf

Leave it alone.

Otherwise, in 24 hours time, you'll all be sat round the dining table and a Lindt Bunny will suddenly burst forth from someone's chest and go on the rampage.

Christ, as if Lindt bunnies weren't scary enough with their dead eyed stare that just challenges you to behead the bugger
viques · 04/04/2021 16:49

What a fantastic explanation OP, gloves are off now for the return match though.

A little disappointed you aren’t a Russian defector/double agent/Putin disser, but will let it pass.

):

This exact thing happened to me on pancake day. I received a parcel which contained pancake mix, single portion jams and Nutella. The label was hand written to my family with a heart at he end and sent via Royal Mail first class. I eventually found out when the kids went back to school through another parent it was from one of the Chaplin team at my sons (Catholic) school. It was still a bit strange as there was no note or anything with it apparently they sent them to a handful of students from different years 🤷‍♀️ Could this be the case OP?

Fembot123 · 04/04/2021 16:59

Great explanation. It would never have occurred to me not to eat it, it being poisoned wouldn’t have entered my mind 😂

Cushionsnotpillows · 04/04/2021 17:07

That is simply the BEST update ending to a MN mystery ever!!!! GrinGrinGrin

Whhhhyyyy isn't there a Kingfisher emoji when you need one. Closest on my phone is a parrot sorry OP 🦜

@GrannyOrnamnentLover are you the sister???

PenCreed · 04/04/2021 17:12

Your sister is a genius. I'd have been laughing hysterically way before you realised!

LazyDoll · 04/04/2021 17:15

Aw thanks guys. We all love a happy ending aye!!?

Grannyornamentlover is my (name changed for the occasion obvs) sister’s friend (I found this out after the fact!) who was spurred into action (called to arms!) by my sneaky sibling to prompt egg opening!

LazyDoll · 04/04/2021 17:17

PenCreed she did have a slightly maniacal look in her eye on the FaceTime call which should’ve been a giveaway!!!

PS i should update I am, of course, sitting here scoffing 1/5 of said egg, sans kingfisher, Boy it’s good!!!!Easter Smile

Gotthetshirt23 · 04/04/2021 17:23

Brilliant !
Loving the update ...
consider in the future sending flowers , making sure they are those boxed base ones and get the florist to pop Mr. kingfisher in with the stems/ water .
Not for ages unless a Birthday is soon etc
Grin

GrannyOrnamnentLover · 04/04/2021 17:28

Busted! Set up a MN profile especially! Enjoy the egg and Happy Easter.

LazyDoll · 04/04/2021 17:31

Gotthetshirt I’m definitely going to have to think of something very inventive...I shall start a list. My sons are busy thinking up (totally impractical) ideas as I type!! Easter Hmm

I’ve just reread the whole thread and you guys have made my Easter with all your responses. The early hours ones in particular made me giggle all over againEaster Grin

Give some to the least favourite member of the family, if they are ok 24 hours later then its fine to share it with the rest

Ismellphantoms · 04/04/2021 17:59

This is the best thread ever! It's made my (boring) day.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/04/2021 18:08

That’s brilliant. My mum and I have a similar thing with a candle in a glass bird case. Although not as much effort goes into it.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 04/04/2021 18:15

Fantastic ending Grin

I will remind you all though, if you can sneak an ornament in an egg, you can also sneak a hand or bomb in it.

Happy Easter Easter Grin

KeflavikAirport · 04/04/2021 18:17

There was a woman who murdered her lover’s wife by sending poisoned chocolates. But that was about 120 years ago.

SonicStars · 04/04/2021 18:19

That was the best result!

Thus could so easily have been the most tedious thread ever, but some great replays and an actual interesting ending.
I'm only a little bit disappointed you're not a spy.

Or are you?

Tal45 · 04/04/2021 18:23

That is brilliant OP, I want a kingfisher to do such crazy things with.

EveWasReframed · 04/04/2021 18:39

Maybe your sister's playing the long game and is lulling you with kingfisher memories into eating the detonating poison.

Bluetrews25 · 04/04/2021 20:44

Don't grind it into dust and bake it like flour in some bread or pastry or cake.
Unless you want to end the game, which I doubt you do!
Your DCs seem to be raring to take it to the next generation.

GreenSlide · 04/04/2021 22:39

@ladyvimes

I’d eat it. The chances of someone having poisoned it (wth) vs someone just forgetting to put a message in it are tiny?

Why would someone do that?!!!

Is there really no one you would poison if you thought you would get away with it?

GreenSlide · 04/04/2021 22:48

What a fab ending OP. Like something out of Friday Night Dinner GrinHope you get the chance to get the Kingfisher back her way soon, if you're ever pregnant again stage a post birth picture when you're on the labour ward with you holding the kingfisher wrapped in a blanket Grin

Will0wtree · 05/04/2021 00:12

That's truly excellent. A most satisfying resolution!
