You can just say 'my husband' or 'my daughter', you know, instead of bloody 'DH' or 'DD'. WE WILL STILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND YOU!

How refreshing would it be, just for once, to see someone here state 'my husband' instead of their 'DH'?!

It's such a sappy wet-lettuce thing to say anyway, plus half the bloody time there are threads about how someone's 'darling' husband has been found to be texting some other woman/cam girl/sex worker, etc

It's as though people here think nobody will be able to understand them unless they preface the person they're talking about with 'darling'. WHY?!

WHEN WILL WE STOP THE TWATTERY?

OP posts:
Happinessisawarmcervix · 01/04/2021 19:24

@HazeyJaneII

I like the twattery. I like the D....H, D, S, Sis etc I don't even think about it being Dear or Darling, it's just D...

My favourite Acronym is STBXH because in my head it is Shitbag Ex Husband.

Genuinely thought it was “stupid bastard ex” for a long time.
Atalantea · 01/04/2021 19:25

oh really? ffs

OReli · 01/04/2021 19:25

Oh I agree 💯 but used it today on another post for the first time and that will be the last time! Just seems weird to me haha! Also there’s so many abbreviations on here that I don’t know what they mean and have to just guess.

JSL52 · 01/04/2021 19:25

@Neighneigh

I'd rather we focus on eliminating 'hubs' and 'hubby'
YES ! 🤢
Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2021 19:26

It's like RTFT is 'read the fucking thread' to me but apparently the 'F' really means 'Full' Grin

littlepattilou · 01/04/2021 19:26

Why are a few posters getting all arsey about other posters complaining about inconsequential things? Confused

People are entitled to post about, and rant about whatever they like. It's a bloody message forum.

If you don't like the content of any particular thread, then don't post on it. In fact, why even open it? Just so you can post a sanctimonious and holier-than-thou comment about how 'petty' people are for moaning about trivial shit? Hmm Bit pathetic if you ask me..... A lot more pathetic than people moaning about trivial shit! Wink

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 01/04/2021 19:26

@littlepattilou

I’ll have to take your stupid on my chin. (As long as it wipes off)

I have been known to ddog and Sheldog.

It is ok though. I’ll judge myself Wink

Sheldog. Grin

I love that.

And it's only my opinion. I just DDOG and DCAT sounds a bit daft.

Doris86 · 01/04/2021 19:31

@PhillipPhillop

But ddog IS an abbreviation. Of 'my dog', 'our dog' etc. You wouldn't just say 'I took dog to the vet'.
You wouldn’t say ‘I took dear dog to the vet’ either. You would say ‘I took our dog to the vet’.
Unihorn · 01/04/2021 19:31

Prior to Mumsnet I frequented Disney forums circa 2002 and 'D' was used on those too. I always interpreted it as short for Disney Mum, Disney Daughter etc Grin it's definitely not MN exclusive.

EffYouSeeKaye · 01/04/2021 19:31

Don’t mind dh etc. It’s just mn speak. Hubby is terrible.

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2021 19:31

Why are a few posters getting all arsey about other posters complaining about inconsequential things?

Moaning about inconsequential things are what makes the MN (that's Mumsnet) world go round. It's 99% of AIBU topic(that's Am I Being Unreasonable).

makes us look like a shower of twats.

I found this unreasonably funny.

Ifailed · 01/04/2021 19:34

I do most of my typing on mumsnet with one hand while I feed my baby

I feed DB while typing on MN 1 handed

69 characters versus 37. Can anyone get it lower?

ErrolTheDragon · 01/04/2021 19:34

DDog is daft... but my ddog is quite daft so it suits him.
His breed means I could name him my dddog. And he's deaf so I'm now happily at d-d-d-dog so I can call him to the tune of the opening of Beethoven's fifth. (Ooh... he actually heard that! Excellent!)Grin

Bagamoyo1 · 01/04/2021 19:34
@Bagamoyo1 (questioning the use of "hobby")

When I've done this it's because I've felt that the word "karate" or "bellringing" might derail the train of thought into specifics when I'm attempting to apply it to the general.

Occasionally I have been known to refer to the latter as our "niche hobby" Grin

oooh, and I use Grin all the time too...
The problem is that, in trying to draw attention away from the hobby (and get people to focus on the issue), you end up leading people to speculate about the hobby. Whenever I read those threads I completely lose track of who should have paid, whether husband should have looked after kids, whether it’s fair to spend all day on it etc - all I do is wonder what the mystery hobby is!

I'd rather we focus on eliminating 'hubs' and 'hubby'
or even, as I've seen a couple of times, "the hubster"

Except many people say "my Ddog". Thereby saving themselves nothing. Grin
