£500 one off payment tax credits.

Apologies for not posting in the right area but thought it may reach a lot of people!

Dp got a text today to say that one off payments of £500 are being paid by 23rd April. I didn’t think we would be eligible. Is it just a generic text sent to everyone or just those entitled? I thought it was only for those on working tax credits, we only get child tax credits I believe.

To clarify. Dp works and has worked all the way through the pandemic and earns around £30,000 a year. I am currently a stay at home mum to out two children who both have additional needs. The bulk of our child tax credits are based on my children receiving disability living allowance rather than dp’s earnings. We do get some based on his earnings though.

I am really clueless 😂 I thought tax credits were eventually being changed over to universal credit too. We still get ‘tax credits’ and not universal credit.

Advice for a confused mum.

We own our own home and don’t get any other benefits apart from the DLA my children get and the tax credits (obviously child benefit too). £500 would be very appreciated!

Tia.

JengaJuice · 19/04/2021 06:36

My payment went in just after midnight (Lloyds) - single parent, eligible for WTC but nil due to income, receive some CTC, just for anyone that might be in a similar position!

That's why we are getting the £500, tax credits increased by £20pw last year due to the pandemic and that is ending now so we get a one off payment of £500.

Mine didn’t increase last year, and actually went down. I did get the £500 though.

Confuzzlediddled · 19/04/2021 09:12

@Lancrelady80

we are in a similar situation, last payment end of march, not eligible this year due to income increase and have received it today, so that should mean you do too.

CorianderBee · 19/04/2021 09:58

I mean April 23 is on Friday so, you'll find out soon enough if you get paid the £500.

JanFebAnyMonth · 19/04/2021 10:21

I got my first CTC & WTC payment of the tax year today, and was surprised to see that it’s only gone down by £50 for the 4 week period rather than the near £100 I’d expected. Have had the £500. Anyone else had this.

Haven’t received any documentation yet so don’t know if next month’s payment will be the same though.

JengaJuice · 19/04/2021 10:52

@JanFebAnyMonth if you download the HMRC app it makes it really easy to see upcoming payments etc!

Vicj20 · 19/04/2021 12:17

Mine went in today

JanFebAnyMonth · 19/04/2021 13:34

Oh ok thanks @JengaJuice

Gardentime123 · 19/04/2021 14:13

i got mine today :) nationwide

Sh05 · 23/04/2021 10:31

I just received today a letter confirming that we will get it by the end of April. Prior to this we had a text around a month ago. We don't get wtf due to our income and on the award letter there is an amount mentioned then the reduction shown which takes it down to £0.
Hope this helps anyone who is still confused or waiting

Gemmie1986 · 01/05/2021 20:22
