Apologies for not posting in the right area but thought it may reach a lot of people!

Dp got a text today to say that one off payments of £500 are being paid by 23rd April. I didn’t think we would be eligible. Is it just a generic text sent to everyone or just those entitled? I thought it was only for those on working tax credits, we only get child tax credits I believe.

To clarify. Dp works and has worked all the way through the pandemic and earns around £30,000 a year. I am currently a stay at home mum to out two children who both have additional needs. The bulk of our child tax credits are based on my children receiving disability living allowance rather than dp’s earnings. We do get some based on his earnings though.

I am really clueless 😂 I thought tax credits were eventually being changed over to universal credit too. We still get ‘tax credits’ and not universal credit.

Advice for a confused mum.

We own our own home and don’t get any other benefits apart from the DLA my children get and the tax credits (obviously child benefit too). £500 would be very appreciated!

Tia.

Right. Have now spoken to another advisor.

Yes, I'm definitely getting the payment. It has been processed & will be in my bank by the 23rd.

They had the wrong mobile number for me which is why I hadn't received a text.

ihavethehighground · 15/04/2021 15:37

@CoffeeRunner

15 in the queue currently..

That's what I got when I asked, why is everyone getting told different things?
Either I am eligible or not.

£500 one off payment tax credits.
UniKittie · 15/04/2021 16:07

I’ve just been told I will receive the payment on the 23rd but when I tried this morning I was just told the generic wording from the text🤷🏻‍♀️

FoxyTheFox · 15/04/2021 16:08

Due to the vast amount of queries, management will have issued guidance telling staff what lines to take. This will be a generic "if you're eligible then it'll be paid by the 23rd" response to help move the queries along, get them off the phone/webchat, and free up the lines for people with other queries.

MrsBerthaRochester · 15/04/2021 16:22

Are you eligable if you only get child tax credits?

Jodders86 · 15/04/2021 16:30

I've just been on the phone as I noticed a dip in my working tax credits, I had updated my information this past week or so. The gents told me I'm going to be receiving a 500 payment and I claim Child tax and working tax

From the webchat

@ihavethehighground

From the webchat
The exact message I received from the same advisor or another named Yvonne.
EvilOnion · 15/04/2021 20:28

Exactly my thought @FoxyTheFox, they specifically asked people NOT to contact them about the payment so now it will be a generic guideline answer.

Kezhoust2586 · 15/04/2021 21:32

Just received the £500 into my account 🙌

Jubilate · 15/04/2021 21:34

Yes, I got mine about 10 minutes ago

Lauxbeth86 · 15/04/2021 22:04

Kezhoust2586 · 15/04/2021 22:04

Yes received mine about 45 min ago
Blacklampshades · 15/04/2021 22:06

Do they pay just at random time? I thought payments go in at midnight. Will now be checking account several times a day 😁

Skymum82 · 15/04/2021 22:07

I have not 😭.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 15/04/2021 22:32

The people that have received it - when do you normally get your tax credits?

I get mine on a Weds and there was nothing extra yesterday. I've also not had the text, hence the stress.

Mind you, they never messaged me about the SEISS grant either and I was entitled to that so I shouldn't really worry about a missing text!

Bufferingkisses · 15/04/2021 22:49

I normally get mine on a Tuesday so maybe yours is tomorrow/Monday?

Isaidnope · 15/04/2021 23:00

Ahh I hope mine is in tomorrow, I keep checking. I usually get tax credits on a Tuesday.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 15/04/2021 23:05

Aaah that would make sense, thank you @Bufferingkisses. Fingers crossed!

Thegreymethod · 15/04/2021 23:31

Apologies I've tried reading the full thread but not managed to get through it all, I haven't had a text or email so assuming I may not get it (not sure if they've sent them all out yet?) but reading the posts on here my situation sounds similar to others who are getting it......
My husband works, earns about 27k I don't work we have children, we receive CTC but not WTC can't find my award notice to check if it shows we're entitled but don't receive as income too high. My CTC went up by £20 last year and have gone down by £20 last week if that's of any importance? Does anyone know if I will get it?

Isaidnope · 15/04/2021 23:36

@Thegreymethod yeah, you’re pretty much in the same position as us and I was told via HMRC webchat we will get it Smile.
