To order takeaway two nights in a row?!

Terrible decision maker here... AIBU if I order takeaway from a local pub tonight? We had an Indian last night... I'm a single parent to three kids, this last week I've had two hospital appointments, worked every day, done all the childcare around that, and have a physical disability, with one DC with ALN. Oh and I have a fractured wrist. I'm exhausted. It's going to cost about £45... money isn't really an issue but I feel guilty as. I've packed on the weight over this last lockdown. So AIBU or would you go for it?

YANBU. Takeaways are there to lighten the load and you sound as if you need that.

user1487194234 · 27/03/2021 18:52

Why not,if you can afford it
We normally eat about 3/4 times a week
Now we can’t do that we have take out at least twice a week
At the moment I think it’s very much whatever gets you through x

@ParkheadParadise

Go for it We usually eat out 2/3 times a week and have takeaways 2 nights a week. I don't feel guilty. We've just ordered a takeaway and I've ordered cocktails Enjoy your dinner.
Ordered cocktails? This sounds great! Thanks to all everyone who has replied tonight. Really made me feel better!

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants

Str you sure it wasn't in jest?

If my mate told me she'd ordered takeaway again tonight I'd have called her a lazy moo, when I did something daft earlier she called me a dozy mare! (And I was, to be fair)

However, if they were serious I'd be giving them a wide berth. I don't do Facebook or anything like that, but if I did I'd probably end up blocking a lot of people!

Hope it's nice!

I can't eat much of anything you can get delivered, but I'd be ordering regular takeaway if I could, especially if it was from a local pub//restaurant!

More a 'this is life'.... hmmm I know!

Yep, another one ordered here. Pizza for us because as I said, urgh washing up!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 27/03/2021 18:59

Well, when you go on holiday you think nothing of eating out a couple of times a day. Holidays are looking pretty unlikely so you are getting holiday meals in at home.

JackieTheFart · 27/03/2021 19:00

I mean, it’s your money!

I’ve done it before I’ll do it again, for no other reason than I want to. This is definitely one part of being a grown up that I like!

Enjoy Smile

TillyTopper · 27/03/2021 19:02

Go for it! If you can afford it then not a problem! Personally we order takeaways quite a lot, we just make sure to not over order so often will share an Indian dish + rice rather than a blow out. Just do to calories/waistline though nothing else.

ParkheadParadise · 27/03/2021 19:02

@30scrisis
Cocktails ordered from our local pub( I feel I have to do my bit to help the economy through lockdown) 😂😂😂
They arrive lovely and cold and ready to drink🍹🍹🍹

silkpillowcases · 27/03/2021 19:03

Op, my DP and I have had an extremely rough couple of weeks recently with family stuff, work stuff and health stuff - we realised the other day we'd had 10 days of takeaway (we live in London so some of these were 'healthy'). I usually like to cook but sometimes you have to do what you have to do!!!

Fafferly · 27/03/2021 19:04

Do it.

userxx · 27/03/2021 19:04

You're helping to keep the economy afloat. It's your duty.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 27/03/2021 19:06

Absolutely do it!

I’m a single mum to two, work full time and all that stuff. I’m feeling flat tonight.

Not got a takeaway but am drinking cava Grin

Leeds2 · 27/03/2021 19:10

Mushroom Stronganoff with rice and chips is odd, to me. Not being critical, just find it a bit unusual!
I hope you all enjoy your dinner. I live by myself, and don't order home delivery very often. Never from a pub because it isn't available. I usually order Chinese or Thai, and to get free home delivery buy enough to last for dinner, and next day lunch and dinner too.

MsAnnFrope · 27/03/2021 19:10

I hope it’s blooming delicious and you all enjoy it with no guilt!
There are 2 of us grown ups and only one DC and we have resorted to take away more than usual during lockdown! Keeping our favourite local restaurants going right??

IJustLikeBiscuitsOK · 27/03/2021 19:11

If it makes you feel any better I had a Greggs for breakfast, a coffee and medium McDonalds fries (with BBQ sauce) on my stupidly long drive home (had a hospital appointment in London, I live in the North), and now I am about to order a Chinese takeaway. Last night I had a takeaway italian meal. I'm probably going to order sunday lunch delivery tomorrow too haha.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 27/03/2021 19:12

We had chippie tea last night and are having Dominos tonight.

I’m perfectly fit and well, with a DH and kids are NT

YANBU op, enjoy it xx

Ragwort · 27/03/2021 19:18

Atleast That's a really good point about if you were on holiday you wouldn't think twice about eating out every night .... and as we can't go on holiday now ..... !

1forAll74 · 27/03/2021 19:20

Yes you should go for it,especially as you have been so busy all week with all things..I don't ever have takeaways at all, but maybe I would if I had to cook for several people all the time.

4Mongrels · 27/03/2021 19:42

Glad you've ordered. You're supporting a local business and I'm sure they need and appreciate the support right now. You get to not cook and you can also feel smug that you're doing your bit to help out! Enjoy!

Abraxan · 27/03/2021 19:45

You're supporting local businesses at a difficult time -so it's all good!

Fwiw we have 2 takeaways one after another most weekends during lockdown; our local pub takeaway in a Thursday and and then a local restaurant who does the 'posh' 3 course meals where you heat bits up, etc.

kayakingmum · 27/03/2021 19:49

@30scrisis

Oh I'd have a mushroom stroganoff wishing comes with rice, chips and garlic bread, two DC would have lasagna and one would probably have a bacon burger... I've just been called lazy so wondered if it was a bit unjustified! Thank you all, I feel a little less guilty now!
Everyone needs to work, rest and play. You've worked hard and need a rest (which means not slaving over a stove). If that means ordering take away and someone calling you lazy, who cares.

Plus it's good to support local businesses. I'm sure the pub owner appreciated your custom.

30scrisis · 27/03/2021 19:52

Definitely supporting the economy! Glad to know I'm not on my own too. This is essential! All our other local takeaways are the standard greasy stuff but I've eaten at this pub before and the stroganoff is to die for. Someone mentioned Sunday lunch too...

OP posts:
30scrisis · 27/03/2021 19:54

They did forget my singular slice of garlic bread but oh my it's beautiful! The lasagna is a children's portion 😳
