I'll start:

High waisted trousers with crop tops
Lip liner that goes over the top of cupid's bow
@BigPaperBag we have a small 'Live Laugh Love' hanging thing in our kitchen. It was a wedding present. I mainly keep it up as I know so many people hate them so much it makes me laugh (so I just need to live and love).
I’ll consider letting you off just this once then...as long as you don’t get anymore 😂😂

Inflatable hot tubs

I’ve got a big birthday coming up and have asked DH to get me one. The beauty of an inflatable is that you can deflate it and put it away.

Re house trends - I really couldn’t care less about them. I have my house as I want it not how fashion dictates I should have it.

Dindundundundeeer · 27/03/2021 09:53

@PeggyHill

Nauseatingly trite sayings/phrases printed on everything.
I do have a ‘piss off I’m busy’ sign my mum bought me. I’m kind of fond of that.
RedToothBrush · 27/03/2021 09:55

Filters photos taken with phones.

They make people look hideous and unnatural.

Photo editing for insta in general.

j712adrian · 27/03/2021 10:08

Brexit.

dayslikethese1 · 27/03/2021 10:28

Overly complicated skincare routines-ppl will probably realise its making their skin go nuts using so many products so will go back to a more basic routine
Contouring/highlighting-I reckon ppl will get sick of the effort and having stripes all over their face
Gin obsession- I think its time for vodka to have its moment Grin

I am aware this will be seen as controversial but I really hope the trend of having over-the-top drag queens simply everywhere dies out. I have no problem with some entertainer's stage personas being different from their actual persona, even in gender, but that is not the same thing .

RolloTomassi · 27/03/2021 10:36

Activewear as a going-out outfit.

theDudesmummy · 27/03/2021 10:41

Someone upthread mentioned blue mascara coming back! Oh wow, what a blast from the past, I wore nothing else through the whole 1980s!

Wandawomble · 27/03/2021 10:41

@MarieDelaere

Eddie Izzard
Yup! Also eyebrows, lips and “baking” makeup
littledrummergirl · 27/03/2021 10:42

Masks

Drag Queen Storytime - especially given recent news headlines. There’s a bunch of safeguarding stuff that people will look back at and say “How did we let this happen”
Peanutbutterandbananatoastie · 27/03/2021 10:44

I really hope body positivity doesn’t die. Others can hate themselves all they like. I am going to try my hardest to at least be neutral about my body. If someone else wants to love their tummy, good for them.

As for encouraging unhealthy behaviour, studies have shown that people who have a negative attitude to their body and weight are less likely to lose weight and keep it off than those with a positive attitude.

Cloudyrainsham · 27/03/2021 10:45

@Trulyatraditionalman

Crushed velvet and mirrored everything.

Or is that trend already out in favour of paneling??

Ha ha was going to say the same. Silver crushed velvet.

Also feature walls with disgusting, flowery wallpaper.

Wandawomble · 27/03/2021 10:45

Those gigantic oversize coats that swamp the entire body like a giant crisp packet.

Wandawomble · 27/03/2021 10:47

Having plastic surgery to create a gigantic bottom

theDudesmummy · 27/03/2021 10:57

I had not really seen that Drag Queen Sorytime thing before, have just looked it up and wow! That is totally unacceptable.

Drag as adult entertainment in a club or something I can get my head around (although I dislike it and object to it, that is by the by, if consenting adults want to watch it, OK, there are many things I personally dislike and would not watch, I would not want them banned). But purposely pushing an oversexualised and sneering parody of women in small childen's faces? (Yes, I know about pantomime dames, that again is not the same thing, it is a stage character, not supposed to be a real life person).

I am aware that people will disagree with me.

MarieDelaere · 27/03/2021 10:58

Yes, I like a natural big arse and people should be very happy with them.

But deliberately having your buttocks injected with god-know-what and having arse-inserts and arse-uplifts inserted specifically for the purpose of posing in a thong or skin-right leggings with said massive arse sticking out towards the viewer, who's left wondering if a massive bottom explosion is theoretically possible, well that's a trend I think might happily fade away.

nameisnotimportant · 27/03/2021 11:00

Tiktok dances and the stupid Instagram reels where people point at bubbles with writing in them. So bloody cringey

RoSEbuds6 · 27/03/2021 11:05

Child poverty, single use plastic, wear once cheap clothes and gas-guzzling cars.

On a lighter note, the heavy 'drag' type of make up and the botox and filler look.

Okbussitout · 27/03/2021 11:06

@AppleKatie

I was going to say completely grey houses!
Of course you were it's mumsnet
Okbussitout · 27/03/2021 11:09

Seems like this is just a bitch fest of things people think they're too good for. What a surprise to find this on here!

MarieDelaere · 27/03/2021 11:12

I'd also imagine the nation might be over its love-in with Boris Johnson.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 27/03/2021 11:13

I would hope once a more sophisticated understanding of how and why people become fat, together with improved medical options for helping people lose weight, are mainstream, people will feel ashamed of the open abuse of overweight people ‘in the interests of their health’. It’s so complex but there are enormous vested interests in the weight loss and food industry, similar to the tobacco and alcohol industries, that are happy to see misconceptions and assumptions continue - I think we’re on the edge of seeing a change though.

A PP asked why people were saying they’d like to see the end of woodburners. They are polluting, needlessly damaging the environment. They’re already illegal in many places because of clean air regulation but often people don’t realise.
