Mine are :-

Kellogg’s Rise and Shine, a very strange powdered juice drink that we had on special occasions’ instead of actual juice.

Vesta ready meals, particularly the Chow Mein which had crispy noodles on top.

Toast Toppers - weird sludge resembling baby food.

I loved Creamola Foam! We didn’t get it at home, but if we were at Grannies on a Friday night (van night) she’d treat us.

Granny lived in the country so had a store cupboard in case of bad weather. Horrible tinned burgers in a strange coloured gravy. Little boxes of dried soup mix...”Chef square shaped soup shows how a good soup should be.”

Ginger wine at Christmas. Not at all alcoholic and could burn the tonsils of you if not made properly.

I recently bought a butterscotch Angels Delight at the local British shop. But given the cost it feels like it should be kept for a special occasion.

kikisparks · 26/03/2021 16:27

Also came to say Cremola foam.

And the heinz baked bean pizza, we ate one every week, although I wouldn’t eat it now.

Liverpool17 · 26/03/2021 16:30

Choc top yoghurt.... Really weird.. grainy.. But we loved them

bluebluezoo · 26/03/2021 16:34

Raspberry splits, but the raspberry bit was like actual frozen raspberry, bobbly on the outside.

Far nicer than the smooth ones, but I can’t find any evidence they existed!

Donteatpurplebroccoli · 26/03/2021 16:41

I’ve just googled and yes you’re right @bluebluezoo that’s bugged me for years! Courtesy of google the mint ones were tooty minties!! Glad that mystery is solved thanks!! Grin

Everythingmagnolia · 26/03/2021 16:42

Cartoonies. They were small dome shaped biscuits filled with chocolate, and had a cartoon character stamped on them.

ghostyslovesheets · 26/03/2021 16:45

Pink panther bars

Gliblet · 26/03/2021 16:47

Grew up in the 80s. God knows how we all survived Grin

White 'chocolate' skulls filled with red sugar syrup. Panda pops that left you thirstier than you were when you first started trying to stab the little plastic straw through the lid. Instant lemon crunch pudding. Findus frozen mousse pots. Pizazz ice lollies. Oh, and that bloody awful cardboardy bubblegum that came with Garbage Pail Kids stickers.

Occasionally my mum would make me one of two utterly decadent and nutritionally evil combos - one was a slice of white bread with the crusts cut off, buttered and wrapped butter side out around a cheap tinned hotdog, then fried into a sort of corndog type of thing. The other was crushed digestive biscuits mixed with melted butter and golden syrup, rolled into balls and then rolled in cocoa powder.

MarinPrime · 26/03/2021 16:49

smith's broken crisps at a penny a packet

Lavender2018 · 26/03/2021 16:57

Bit of a mishmash here;
Ritz crackers
Spam

Caramac chocolate bar
Sherbet Fountain- I once sucked the liquorice too hard and the sherbet hit the back of my throat and I couldn’t stop coughing and huge clouds of sherbet came out of my mouth😂

Man From U.N.C.L.E chewing gum
with photo cards which we used to collect and swap with our friends

Aniseed balls- loved them even though they made my tongue sore

Liquorice pipes with hundred and thousands on the bit where the “tobacco” would be on a real pipe

Liquorice root sticks from the chemist shop

Barley sugar sticks

Flying saucers filled with sherbet

Oooohbehave · 26/03/2021 17:08

@Sillysandy

Gammon steak with tinned pineapple rings on top
I still eat this sometimes Blush
LadyEuphemia · 26/03/2021 17:11

Oooohbehave · 26/03/2021 17:12

Findus crispy pancakes, I loved them.

Bought the cheese ones about a decade ago in a fit of nostalgia - tasted like cheese and onion crisps someone had chewed and spat back. 🤮

cinnabarmoth · 26/03/2021 17:36

@DGRossetti you can still get Calypso's I believe

MarshaBradyo · 26/03/2021 17:38

Chocolate ripple cake

Sooo good. Australian biscuits / recipe I think

DGRossetti · 26/03/2021 17:38

I heard a comedian reference them recently ... from the laughs they got it seems they were pretty common.

There was also a carton based rival "Tip Top" ... as sold by our school tuck shop. 10p I think.

I could eat fruity ice all day long.

Meowchickameowmeow · 26/03/2021 17:46

Thin Ice Sheets, I used to love those for a quick freshen up on the go. They disappeared for some reason.

DaisyandIvy · 26/03/2021 17:53

Brandy Snaps (divine)

Pacers

Hedgehog flavour crisps

Lemonade Sparkle ice lolly

A drink sold in a flimsy plastic cup with a push through straw (can't recall name?)

Moon Dust

Pop Tarts (weren't allowed them in our house)

DepecheMode81 · 26/03/2021 17:54

Loving this thread & all these nostalgic food! We seemed to eat so much food laden down with sugar but there were not so many overweight children as there are now. Just goes to show it's everything in moderation & plenty of exercise is needed to keep the weight off

tsmainsqueeze · 26/03/2021 18:16

Mint cracknell - shards of green sugary crystal strands ,mint flavour , dipped in chocolate , in a bar .
Lovely but you could get spiked in the mouth by the shards .

MummyJ12 · 26/03/2021 18:45

Funny Feet lollies
Crispy pancakes
Um Bongo
Findus French bread pizzas
Mini Turkish Delights in boxes of Milk Tray
Proper sized chocolate bars and creme eggs!

I absolutely LOVED Garbage Pail stickers! Was it Sticky Vicky? Or Sicky Vicky?! They were brilliant Smile
