I cannot stand the relentless drivel that is Zoe Ball oh my god yesterday Stacey Soloman and her diatribe of awfulness and now replacing Graham Norton with Claudia just why ? I am Mrs Brady moany old lady for sure what else can I listen to 🥴

OP posts:
Shimmyshimmycocobop · 25/03/2021 20:44

I love Liza Tarbuck and I like Jo Wiley in the evening slot, the drivetime did not suit her, that's about it for me on radio 2.
I liked Claudia's Sunday night show, she's trying too hard on Saturday mornings it's tiring to listen to.
I've never had much opportunity to listen to Ken being at work and all that.
I do miss Graham Norton on Saturdaymornings, Simon Mayo on drivetime and Terry Wogan.

TroysMammy · 25/03/2021 20:49

I can't listen to female dj's. They get on my tits with their inane chatter and gushing.

BadlydoneHelen · 25/03/2021 20:53

Graham Norton available Saturday and Sunday on Virgin whilst Simon Mayo does drive time on Greatest Hits Radio with Matt sports guy too

BadlydoneHelen · 25/03/2021 20:54

That was supposed to be a quote but something went wrong!

LubaLuca · 25/03/2021 20:56

Zoe Ball sucking saliva and air through her teeth is unbearable. If she slowed down her speech, her brain might be able to keep up and produce less inane silence-fillers - and she wouldn't need to do that bloody sucking 😬

PopcornPeacock · 25/03/2021 20:59

@foodtoorder

Doesn't help you for the mornings but greatest hits radio has Simon Mayo on drive time! Same concept as when on r2 with Matt the sports guy and confessions. Only started last week but it's made my year so far! 😂

Also lots of the older radio2 crew do various shoes through the week also.

Thank you so much for the info on Simon - biggest crime ever when he was forced off radio 2. Ken Bruce is the only one I now turn it on for.

I've now just found Greatest Hits and can't wait for tomorrow with Simon and Matt!

GoWalkabout · 25/03/2021 20:59

Apparently we have nowhere serious to go so they don't care...

MrsJBaptiste · 25/03/2021 21:01

@Mapletreelane I love Micheal Ball too 🤭

I feel I shouldn't but he seems so nice and really enjoys his radio slot. I bet he's quite a laugh in RL.

foodtoorder · 25/03/2021 21:03

@PopcornPeacock the drive time starts at 4pm I believe.
Enjoy 😊

Nanny0gg · 25/03/2021 21:07

@TopTabby

I usually like Zoe Ball but I can't listen to her on Radio 2, it's the way she tells us we all love love love everything, get some opinions Zoe!! Richie is really irritating, I can't listen to him & can't forgive the dreadful 'domestic travel' from the first Lockdown. He's tried to take over Popmaster a bit but Ken's not having it thankfully! Jeremy Vine's fake sincere/sad/sympathetic voice is so cringe, he's another one who seems to tell us what we all think, no way. Steve Wright, out of date since around 1990 with his stupid voices. 'Alan Bennett' is just so unfunny. Sara Cox is ok, she's the only one I'll leave on for a bit now. Paul Gambacini has ruined Pick of the Pops, its all about the US hits now with nothing quirky ever played. Rylan is actually not bad at all! Local radio is very repetitive but I don't mind a bit of Greatest Hits with Mark Goodier or Simon Mayo, avoid Pat Sharp though, out of date & misogynistic too. Gosh I feel better for thatGrin On the Coast is a good local station for Yorkshire coast, good variety of music, low key presenters so I listen to that as background.
It's not Paul Gambacini's fault that Pick of the Pops has changed. It's the fact that he has to play much more recent charts.
TheresAnEyeInMeSoup · 25/03/2021 21:09

I don't get the love for Sarah Cox, she always sounds pissed to me. Not saying she is pissed, but she always sounds so slur-ry which puts me off.

Simon Mayo was great.

MoonCatcher · 25/03/2021 21:12

Radio 6 is better.
My guilty pleasure is Union Jack.

MoonCatcher · 25/03/2021 21:18

Come the revolution - Steve Wright show will be first against the wall - just shootin' no g.
Disclaimer - I refer to the show, not any individuals involved in it.

LunaNorth · 25/03/2021 21:18

The problem I have with Zoe Ball’s show is that she seems to have nothing to say. My heart’s in my mouth listening, as she always seems three words away from dead air, and there’s far too much ‘errmmm’ing going on.

It’s stressful and I have to turn it off. Shame, because I like her.

LunaNorth · 25/03/2021 21:19

And I’m still not over the loss of RadMac in the afternoons on 6music.

MoonCatcher · 25/03/2021 21:24

I liked Sean McKeaveny when he did the breakfast show.

HerBigChance · 25/03/2021 21:26

@Shimmyshimmycocobop Graham's on Virgin at the weekends now.

LunaNorth · 25/03/2021 21:26

So did I. I used to laugh when he kicked the bin.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 25/03/2021 21:27

I agree, OP. I find Zoe Ball stressful to listen to. She manages to say absolutely shit all using far too many words. She comes across as really fake, like Alex Jones on the One Show, who doesn't actually listen to anything the guests/callers actually say and will remember absolutely nothing about them once they've gone.
Elaine Page has to be the absolute worst. That fake coquettish giggle she does drives me round the bend. It's painfully embarrassing.
Steve Wright is like the turd that won't flush.
I like Sarah Cox though, I find her down to earth and quite genuine. Wish she would have got the breakfast show. Claudia Winkleman is so bad. Such a fake. Even worse than those dreadful dandruff shampoo adverts. She's really annoying. Her style and sense of humour is seriously dated.
Liza Tarbuck I really want to like as I have found her really funny on other things but the way she stretches all her words is irritating.
Jeremy Vine is a bit of a prick. Smug.
Ken Bruce is ok. A bit dated I think now though.
Is that everybody?! Phew!

MoonCatcher · 25/03/2021 21:28

Couldn't bear Simon Mayo on a Friday. The Muppets song for every listeners' toddler, dreary little Englanders driving to their annual reunion with other dreary little Englanders who all met at teacher training college 29 years ago, Mummy driving Jocasta to her weekend gymkhana while Daddy stays at home arranging hook ups online and the siblings wondering if they'll ever be loved in the way Mummy loves Jocasta.

MoonCatcher · 25/03/2021 21:30

And any DJ who gives a shout out to any listener who claims to be dancing in the kitchen should be sacked immediately.

TheBullfinch · 25/03/2021 21:32

Its been shit for a while now.

I really miss Terry Wogan.

I also miss Graham Norton as I cant tune my DAB radio into Virgin.

I like Radio4 but it lacks realism and humour and I'm sick to death of hearing the word 'narrative' every five minutes. It's very London centric luvvy too which is irritating. Their drama and comedy is crap. They do outstanding news, culture and political shows though.

KatherineofOregon · 25/03/2021 21:33

Nothing will ever come close to Simon Bates and "Our Tune" of a weekday morning. I think it may have been R1 , but , that was broadcasting at its absolute best.

Authenticchicken · 25/03/2021 21:33

Agree Grin
