Radio 2 why so dumbed down

I did like lynn, but really can't take to Ritchie Anderson. It seems to me like he's only there to get his own show, which he does tomorrow. Will not be listening to that!

What is R2's target audience? If they are aiming R1 at under 30s, where do the BBC expect people over 30 to move on to? R2 should have been the natural place to move over to, but at that age I didn't want to move over to listening to a 60 year old Terry Wogan, who'd been on there when my mum listened when I was little.
I'm now in my 50s and still don't want to listen to Ken Bruce (I've previously caught Trevor Nelson standing in for him, which I enjoyed) or Jeremy Vine, and who the hell wants to listen to Elaine Paige!

I'm.back in my workplace now and missing working from.hime with Radio 2 on. Only tuned in for Ken and Jeremy, didn't enjoy Zoe really. Get a bit bored Steve Wright and his Alan Bennett DJ Silly Boi theme but would zone out a bit then often prepare tea at 5 with Sara.

I don't think Elaine Paige is an age thing, more whether you like musicals or not (and can put up with her laugh!). I know some people where that's the only Radio 2 programme they listen to.

My car is ancient and hasn't got Bluetooth connected so I just use an auto lead. 2 quid from the phone shop.

I’ve tried to get into 6Music but I just can’t take to it, I find it so boring.

I’ve listened to Simon Mayo’s new drive time show on Greatest Hits and agree with pp, I can’t get over all the adverts. Plus while it’s similar to his R2 gig, it’s NOT the same. I used to really love his chats with celebs, authors etc - proper old fashioned interesting long interviews interrupted by a song or two. The new show had none of that and is too disjointed because he has to stop every 2 minutes for ads.

Zoe Ball and her breathlessness and constant stumbling over words, I just don’t think she’s a very good presenter sorry. I like Sara but she has so dumbed down the drive time slot compared to when Simon did it.

Ken Bruce is the king. When he goes it will be the end for R2.

I actually don’t mind Steve Wright, I know he’s universally hated but I can put up with him. I can even put up with Jezza, I find his bizarre phone in topics funny. “Next, have you ever been trapped in an attic because your loft ladder broke? Email us now.”
