To ask what do you consider timeless clothing?

Hoping for traffic to see lots of opinions!

What pieces would you or do you have in your wardrobe that are always "in" and look lovely regardless of the current trends?
Be it shoes, jackets or general clothing.
I'd love to hear some examples as I'm in the process of adding a few things to my wardrobe and would really like to go for timeless and classic staples (both everyday and formal/occasion wear) that will stand the test of time rather than be out of fashion in a year or so.

So can I ask the wise MM community what would you recommend I look for?

Totally agree, all awful except for the candle and hand cream which don't really count as timeless clothes do they....

Blazer, loafers, pearl earrings, silk scarves - oh dear god 😫

Doc Martens, million times more interesting

I agree that Dr Martins are genuinely timeless - you could have worn them in every decade - even my dd had a several very cute kiddy pairs in the noughties. I'll also say a fine black polo neck - I've been wearing them for 35 years - they always look cool and the cut hasn't changed much from the 60's.

Camel coloured trench coat. I miss wearing one now I'm not going to the office.

That is the one colour I cannot wear - I tried for years to find a beige trench that looked good on me - but beige makes me look dead. I see they are back "in" this year and I won't be buying - I have bowed out of the search gracefully.

Me too, another one who cannot wear camel, or that awful sand beige Burberry trench macs come in. I can, however, wear cream.

Camel and beige have NO place in my wardrobe, ever. I’d look like a bowl of porridge. Terrible colours on me.

No camel for me either, or yellow.
