Matt Hancock has worn the same navy suit and pink tie through the duration of the pandemic. What’s going on there?

I can’t be the only one who has noticed this? Wouldn’t you think his wife or someone - anyone - would just tell him “Fgs you can’t wear that pink tie again.” Why does he do this? I find it peculiar.

He has 70000 of each so he doesn't get flustered choosing what to wear.

Inthecathouse · 17/03/2021 17:40

But nobody wears the same suit and tie every day surely?

If that was your husband, wouldn’t you just tell him?

No shops open?
or too busy to go shopping when they were open?

Samcro · 17/03/2021 17:43

He is probably like chucky and has a whole load of the same clothes.

TheQueef · 17/03/2021 17:44

It's his press suit.
It looks shiny cos it's getting a hammering.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 17/03/2021 17:45

I just googled
Images are fairly evenly split between pink and navy ties.
inthecathouse could be right, if you look carefully at the pink ones, some have a discreet pattern.
There also appeared to be a black tie; he was fiddling with his lapel, so maybe he was going to a funeral?

Donotfeedthebears · 17/03/2021 17:45

He’s a robot and only needs one outfit?

Inthecathouse · 17/03/2021 17:47

I have never seen him in anything but that pink tie. He must be doing it on purpose, but what purpose I don’t know.

If his wife needs to tell him anything, it should probably be not to awkwardly stand so close to women in interviews.

AlwaysLatte · 17/03/2021 17:48

It must be a hell of a job to have walked into! He looks much happier when not talking about Covid, and not a tie in sight...

He normally wears a track suit and hoodie in the office, but keeps a suit in the cupboard for big meetings?

DrManhattan · 17/03/2021 17:49

Maybe hes got other things to worry about ?

Finfintytint · 17/03/2021 17:51

9 1/2 weeks?
Yuk.

MelvinEugenePunymeyer · 17/03/2021 17:52

I've noticed the pink tie too. I reckon he had his colours done and pink and navy are his "pop" colours Grin

DrunkBetch · 17/03/2021 17:52

Why is what he wears anything to do with his wife?

Inthecathouse · 17/03/2021 17:54

Obviously the man has far more important things on his mind than his clothes, but with his pale colouring, that pink is kind of insipid. Fine occasionally, but no other politician (or person in general) wears only one suit combo - unless it’s school uniform. He must have decided this is the look for him and that’s it.

When I first saw the pink tie, I assumed he went to Westminster School (I think a pink tie is linked to special sporting prowess. Could have got the school wrong though).

Turns out he didn't go there at all - then I thought maybe he was in receipt of tiresome "jocular" comments in Westminster by old public schoolboys about old school ties, and so wore it to make a point Grin.

Michael Foot and his Donkey Jacket anyone?

  1. reduce decision fatigue
  2. create a personal brand

Palavah · 17/03/2021 17:58

I agree pink is an odd choice for a man of his complexion and nomenclature

Inthecathouse · 17/03/2021 18:00

If you have a tendency to look a bit washed out (as he does, understandably), that pale pink is draining. Does he think nobody would recognise him in a different tie? Does he wear it for good luck? Must be something.,,

Inthecathouse · 17/03/2021 18:02

Palavah - interesting. Someone must have told him - “Wear this suit everyday, Be your own brand.”

OP posts:
PositiveNegative · 17/03/2021 18:05

Genuinely? He might be colourblind. So he has dark ties (all navy) and light ties (all pink) and everything matches everything else?

RandomUsernameHere · 17/03/2021 18:09

I've actually never noticed. He probably always wears the same because it's easier and one less thing to think about.
