Wibu to take biscuits to my vaccine appointment

I've got my covid vaccination this week. I'm very grateful to be getting it and thought it would be nice to take a selection biscuit pack, obviously still sealed. Would this be weird? Would they be allowed to take it for the break out area?

And have people dipping their fingers in to a box or tin? Individually wrapped or not - no

Bonkers. Just bonkers.

oneglassandpuzzled · 16/03/2021 22:09

I volunteer at a vaccine clinic and biscuits, cakes and chocolates are very gratefully received.

TurquoiseDress · 16/03/2021 22:09

Not weird at all! it's a lovely gesture for the staff there

KizzyKat91 · 16/03/2021 22:10

I also volunteer in a vaccination centre and we love receiving gifts! There’s no issue with it at all :) Any foodstuffs get whisked away and put on a table in the break room. We also have a noticeboard filled with thank you cards and drawings etc.

Someone provided us with tons of homemade cupcakes on Mother’s Day. Some of the vaccinators cried - it was such a lovely gesture!

Generallybewildered · 16/03/2021 22:10

I volunteer at vaccination centres. We definitely accept biscuits, chocolates. We’ve had local businesses drop off take aways and sandwiches and one elderly lady brought a small suitcase of cans of soda.
All very sweet and gratefully received.

WisnaeMe · 16/03/2021 22:11

Take anything they'll appreciate it. I was only there 30 mins at most 🌺

Sillyduckseverywhere · 16/03/2021 22:12

My mum helped out at a vaccination centre and they all loved the goodies people brought in. Obviously only wrapped things got eaten. It all went though.

Mayormaynothavehadit · 16/03/2021 22:13

Yup do it!

Shitfuckcommaetc · 16/03/2021 22:19

Weird. They’ll just throw it away

They really won't!
It's wierd you'd think this tbh

DarcyJack · 16/03/2021 22:26

At our vaccination centre it would be very welcome if wrapped. Some of you will be disgusted to hear that for lunch we have from time to time ordered in takeaway pizza and shared it.

PatsyJStone · 16/03/2021 22:35

Work in a centre, we have had pizzas, dish & chips, cookies, wrapped biscuits and sweets and gratefully accepted and tucked into all of it. There is no breakout area inside as such so can’t share with the public.
As for catching something, when I’ve greeted 800 plus people and some carers in one day, no matter hard we try to social distance, wear masks, sanitise, etc. I feel I’m more at risk from a physical person than home made cookies. The vast majority of us working have had our first vaccine so feel fairly protected. We are a month in of lovely thoughtful gifts and nobody has got sick. We don’t have chance to have a real break, or leave the site, some people work 12 hours, we have a very small breakout room. Anything is appreciated and the cameraderie is brilliant amongst the team of paid workers and vaccinators. We are more of a privately run site, and wouldn’t refuse anything as not in an NHS provision. Could be different but I’d listen to those who are working in the units and have experience of donating, before listening to anyone who says it’s weird, wrong, dangerous etc. It’s a lovely idea and I’d think the vast majority of times would be appreciated and eaten!

itbemay1 · 16/03/2021 22:46

It's a lovely thing to do I work in a vaccination centre and we've had some lovely donations.

Bluntness100 · 16/03/2021 22:47

Honestly I find this as weird as wishing to give the staff down Asda a gift every time you use the shop.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 16/03/2021 22:55

I have a few friends working in vaccination sites, they love it when people bring them biscuits or cakes. They've even had home made ones and they've been accepted.
It's very kind of you to think of them.

DdraigGoch · 16/03/2021 22:55

@justanotherneighinparadise

Pmsl at some of these comments Grin
I know, I'm finding it hilarious that half of the posters are absolutely adamant that even individually wrapped treats are banned, while the other half are the ones who've actually been to/work at a vaccination centre.
BertieBotts · 16/03/2021 22:57

Why are people answering with total guesses but worded like they are actual facts? :o so weird! Glad some people with actual experience have answered.

justasking111 · 16/03/2021 22:58

TKMAXX have donated lots of bags of goodies to our GP surgery to be shared out as a thank you

AlwaysLatte · 16/03/2021 23:00

I don't think it's weird but it's another item to think about in the clean area so I wouldn't. Maybe a nice email and review is it's possible to do afterwards?

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 16/03/2021 23:00

I did this and the volunteers seemed very pleased.

duffmcstockings · 16/03/2021 23:02

When I got to the vaccine centre they were all scoffing (much deserved) bacon rolls donated by a local business.

boxingdayagain · 16/03/2021 23:02

Another vaccinator here. Gifts gratefully accepted. Thank you all. So kind and thoughtful x

WorraLiberty · 16/03/2021 23:05

I've got a question about individually wrapped sweets like Celebrations etc, because I'm thinking of buying some for my local library staff who have done me a big favour...

Wouldn't they be disallowed because the staff would all be putting their fingers in the tub, then unwrapping the sweet and putting their hands to their mouths?

Not bothered, just curious?

RememberWhenWe · 16/03/2021 23:05

What on earth is weird about taking a gift to thank staff for your vaccination Confused. I'm sure they will be really grateful, what a lovely thought.

beela · 16/03/2021 23:06

I volunteer at our local vaccination centre, we all enjoyed sharing a box of biscuits on my most recent shift Smile

Famousinlove · 16/03/2021 23:07
