Wibu to take biscuits to my vaccine appointment

I've got my covid vaccination this week. I'm very grateful to be getting it and thought it would be nice to take a selection biscuit pack, obviously still sealed. Would this be weird? Would they be allowed to take it for the break out area?

Individually wrapped sweets or small packets of biscuits would be ok. But probably not a tin of biscuits or box of chocolates that would be 'exposed' once unsealed.

cerseii · 16/03/2021 21:23

I do think it’s a bit weird. I don’t think it’s the done thing in 2021, but at the same time your clinic may appreciate it. I would go for something individually wrapped as others have stated as it’s more hygienic. Worst they can say is no.

bigburdd · 16/03/2021 21:24

I took a box of Lindor individually wrapped chocolates when I had my jab last week at my local health centre and they were well received.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 16/03/2021 21:27

Oh man, now I wish I had thought of this. Good gesture OP.

NHS staff can definitely accept stuff in normal times. In fact once I left some biscuits in the parents room when my baby was in NICU, just some treats for the other mums.... and as I was leaving that night I saw a nurse take the box from the cupboard and move it to the staff room! I didn't really mind but I had already given something to the staff the day before lol.

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 16/03/2021 21:28

It's not weird at all it was a lovely thought. The only weird thing is you still have unopened chocs from Christmas 😀

RagzReturnsRebooted · 16/03/2021 21:31

@StiggyZardust

I work in a vaccination centre. We really appreciate the chocolate/biscuits/cake that people bring in. Thank you!
Yeah, this! Though they did ban us from having anything not individually wrapped. However the biscuits will find a loophole Wink

I'm not even eating sugar at the moment but still appreciate the kind gesture.

Bumblebee1980a · 16/03/2021 21:31

I think that's a lovely idea and I don't understand why people think it's weird. I wonder why being kind seen as strange.

I am a healthcare professional (a SAHM now) and I would have seen it as a kind thing to do.

JellyfishandShells · 16/03/2021 21:34

When I was having my vaccination last week someone brought in a large box of biscuits which seemed to be enthusiastically received. They weren’t opened in the actual hall , though !

MustDust · 16/03/2021 21:34

We'd definitely eat them, as long as it's sealed I can't see the issue.

The3Ls · 16/03/2021 21:36

We d accept and be quite touched. Had loads of food and treat delivers throughout in community work.

Playdoughcaterpillar · 16/03/2021 21:37

Would be gratefully accepted at my vaccination centre

SnackSizeRaisin · 16/03/2021 21:38

Who are all these weird paranoid people who won't eat a wrapped biscuit because they don't know how it's been stored? I can assure you that people love to be given chocolate and biscuits as a thank you. Not everyone is on a diet either. And even if they are they can still eat a biscuit if they want!

MumW · 16/03/2021 21:43

How about asking at your first jab if a tin of biscuits or chocolates can be accept by the centre and take them to your 2nd appointment if they are?

cortex10 · 16/03/2021 21:44

Our vaccination centre are regularly posting on their FB feed about the treats they've been given and how much they are enjoying them.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/03/2021 21:45

Pmsl at some of these comments Grin

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 16/03/2021 21:46

I work as a covid vaccinator. We love gifts from the public! They are very happily received but us. It does vary from Trust to Trust but if you want to try bringing something then please do go for it.

ImAVaccinator · 16/03/2021 21:49

Oh yes please do! we've had some lovely treats from people who've brought things in and I was just remarking today we were getting low as we are doing second vaccines so most people bring stuff to their first. Obviously wrapped goods etc but every single thing is very much appreciated and the goodwill gives us all the warm and fuzzies which is nice 2/3 of the way through a long shift.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 16/03/2021 21:52

When I got my jab there was bottles of water and biscuits provided afterwards for everyone ( staff included).

TroysMammy · 16/03/2021 21:54

I took teabags, individual hot chocolate cups and a family pack of Penguins. I'm glad they accepted them as I hate Pengiuns.

ScruffGin · 16/03/2021 21:55

Ignore the people saying it's weird, it will be very much appreciated! We eat anything Grin

Naturenurture · 16/03/2021 21:55

A group of families in our local village bake every week for the local vaccine centres and frontline hospital staff, always gratefully received and consumed!

AWryGiraffe · 16/03/2021 22:01

My mum did similar and it was accepted and seemed to be appreciated.

NewAndImprovedNorks · 16/03/2021 22:02

I took bags of individually wrapped cakes.
I was so pathetically grateful and giddy I would have done an Oprah and given everybody a car if I could

EmmaGellerGreen · 16/03/2021 22:07

Our neighborhood bakes for staff at the local hospital weekly. It is all well received and eaten. Another neighbor works there and confirms that nothing lasts long.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/03/2021 22:07

When I read the thread title, I thought, yes, same - but for me because I am quite likely to faint! You sound lovely, OP.
