Making Love

ProcrastinationIsMySuperPower · 16/03/2021 17:08

My DH insists that the term "making love" is romantic.

I think it's cringe-y and old-fashioned. I think having sex is just that, why call it something else?

Really interested to get some other opinions... Also hoping to prove DH wrong (in a totally light hearted way).

So - YABU - Making love is oh so romantic
YANBU - call it what it is!!

I like rattled not really
Making love is right out of a Danielle Steel book is it not, and they are all crap and yes I have read them.
When you go travelling in the days before the Internet you'll read anything!

I think there’s a difference though personally. I do agree you don’t go around daily saying “making love” Blush however I would assume it’s a bit more meaning than shagging away awful term

Flapjak · 17/03/2021 07:50

Do people really cry after sex? ( not juat cause you are with an ass. Again this is one of those things that i have thought maybe its just me that has the emotional range of a rock but have never felt the urge to cry

Has no one mentioned "baby dancing" yet?!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 17/03/2021 10:10

The poor woman was at the end of the line mentally and it showed

It makes me sick to see how, after exploiting her in life, Hugh Hefner still insisted on publicly making it all about him after her tragic death by deliberately buying the grave plot next to hers. Disgusting man.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 17/03/2021 10:11

Do people really cry after sex?

They do if he wipes his willy on the newly-dry-cleaned curtains Grin

Desmondo2021 · 17/03/2021 10:15

My favourite light hearted term is shonk. Other wise it's have sex. Making love is a bit vom but for some reason love making isn't quite as bad!

ChancesWhatChances · 17/03/2021 10:28

The term has never sat right with me, and I always think I must be doing sex wrong because I don’t think I’ve ever made love to anyone. I have some pretty amazing sex on occasion (and pretty disappointing on others too!) but I have never in my life made love. Makes me feel sad that I’ve never met anyone that wanted to make love to me or that I knew how to make love with (I assume it’s different to normal sex)

ChancesWhatChances · 17/03/2021 10:31

@Flapjak Only when it’s particularly bad Grin

emmylousings · 17/03/2021 10:43

I'm not keen on 'fuck' as it sounds a bit crass (my mother always used that term and I think that put me off), I probably use 'shag' most often, but the expression 'hide the sausage' always makes me smile, it's so silly.. but quite literal!

SeptemberGurl · 17/03/2021 13:51

Me: Can I have a ride? DH: Yes, dear of course you can.

CounsellorTroi · 17/03/2021 13:56

Do the ones who prefer to say fuck, or have sex, think there is no fundamental difference between what they do with their partner and what porn actors do?

Mummadeze · 17/03/2021 13:59

I have definitely both made love and had sex and there is a big difference in my eyes. So I think a term like this is kind of needed.

Borntohula · 17/03/2021 14:43

Huh? Porn actors have sex because they are paid to be watched. I have sex because I enjoy it. It's the same physical act for different reasons, surely?
confused14453 · 17/03/2021 14:46

@TheLost

I like a shag or a fuck, love making makes me feel a bit sick. It reminds me of a boyfriend I had in my early twenties, he introduced me at a party once as “this is my lover, TheLost”. He was Norwegian and it made him sound like a serial killer.
that has made me LOL 😂
Mummyozzi · 17/03/2021 14:49

It's the worst !!!

It's up there with my Aunt's "rudie nudie fun times'

My Australian Dad, "boofing" and the first time my Aussie Dad met my Aussie Mum at a uni party when they were 18, "hey you wanna root ?".

The worst would have to be 'bumping uglies'

ekidmxcl · 17/03/2021 14:51

It’s a creepy, vomity expression.

confused14453 · 17/03/2021 14:51

Yes I find it a bit cringe too.

Then again, I remember the time I was around 18, and one day was making out with my first boyfriend, we were stood up in his bedroom and he pushed me (not hard) back against the wardrobe and passionately uttered, “Take me”.

😳

kissmelittleass · 17/03/2021 14:54

YANBU my dh used to say this yuck yuck cringe I put him straight 😡

Wishingwell75 · 17/03/2021 15:00

@justaddcoffee91 😁 You're the only person who said anything!!! I thought maybe others would be horrified at those awful words.🤣😂🤣😂

TotoAnnihiliation · 17/03/2021 15:00

After this thread, I have Tenacious D, "you don't have to fuck her hard," stuck in my head.

Mummyozzi · 17/03/2021 15:05

Stuff like that stays with you forever 😨 Cringe !

Easterbunnygettingready · 17/03/2021 15:40

My friend told me once her bf told her to look down and see The Beautiful Union!! We are late 40 's now and still howl laughing about it!!
