Aibu to wonder how you are all spending your weekends in lockdown currently?

Colty lol

Carolina24 · 13/03/2021 18:47

I’m on mat leave. We go for walks with the baby, see grandparents. Have been to the zoo. Bake elaborate cakes. Long for spring. Watch reruns of jeopardy.

Pinotwoman82 · 13/03/2021 18:49

We have just finished season 5 happily ever after. I think we may have a few episodes of season 8. I could watch it for years

amusedbush · 13/03/2021 18:50

I've found myself catching up with work over the weekend. Every day feels the fucking same and I've lost all boundaries between my personal and professional lives.

My motivation is in the toilet and I can't concentrate on anything when I'm supposed to be working so I just do short bursts whenever I have the energy - that might be 10pm on a Tuesday or a Saturday afternoon.

(My "work" is my PhD thesis so don't worry, I'm not letting any colleagues down. I always get my work done for the deadline, it just takes a lot of procrastinating followed by a herculean effort over a few days to pull something out of my arse and get it on paper)

AfternoonToffee · 13/03/2021 18:50

I always have great hopes and then nothing happens.

However, the weather is being good, so I am trying to tackle the garden. Obviously last year we had all the time but no way of getting rid of the green waste so a lot of the shrubs have gone wild.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 13/03/2021 18:50

@Pinotwoman82 they do all sort of merge into one! The latest season of The Other Way was awesome.

ssd · 13/03/2021 18:51

Look in the fridge.
Make a cup of tea.
Wander round the house.
Look out the window.
Go a walk.

Fun times...

JM10 · 13/03/2021 18:52

To be honest our weekends are so busy I don't know how we'll cope when we add children's activities and being able to go out and see people again! Hopefully all the house/garden jobs will be done by then.

whyarentiskinnyet · 13/03/2021 18:53

Get up late and make delicious brunch. Go to park. Do admin. Clear out various cupboards or drawers. Walk the dog. Eat. Watch TV. Sleep. Repeat. Not all these things on same day but variations most weekends!

Timeandtune · 13/03/2021 18:54

Since hitting 60 I can’t get back to sleep after my early morning trip to the loo so to make the weekend seem different to the week on Saturday and Sunday mornings I take myself off to the spare room with my breakfast and my book and stay in bed till nearly lunch time.
I absolutely can’t complain. Children are grown up , DH and I in good health etc etc but I do find the weekends long in a way that I didn’t ever before.

Nameandgamechange123 · 13/03/2021 18:54

Cycling, walk and coffee, playground, shopping, sorting.

DawnAnn · 13/03/2021 18:54

Lie in, housework and ironing, long walk, takeaway and TV.

Bluewavescrashing · 13/03/2021 18:54

Walk to bakery via the park with DCs to get treats and bread.

Declutter. Clean. Decorate.

Cook new things.

Plan things to do in the Easter holidays and beyond.

Livelovebehappy · 13/03/2021 18:55

Doing things I used to dislike pre covid. Baking, walking and gardening. Feel sorry for family as I’m inflicting my crap baking on them every weekend. They’ll be praying lockdown ends very soon. 😐

lljkk · 13/03/2021 18:56

Similar to how I spent weekends before end March 2020. The differences are:

dogwalking (volunteering I started due to lockdown)
checking work emails (blurred work-home life)
sometimes doing work (often can't get to work files on Mondays)
few supermarket runs (DH does those)
No ferrying DC to social events or sport
No planning travel or seeing family
DH not doing his 'group hobby'
Few drives, especially not beach (5 miles away, but police do fine)
Few 1-way long walks & train home (that would be using train for leisure)
No hair cuts for boys, no browsing in charity shops for me

SquigglePigs · 13/03/2021 18:57

We have a toddler so try to get a park trip in early in the morning before it gets busy then mix of playing, colouring, baking/cooking, Facetime with family, extended bath times etc. Often a walk nearby in the afternoon too if she needs to run some energy off. Not very exciting but it keeps DD happy.

Lemonyfuckit · 13/03/2021 18:58

Wake up later, have a long lie in (ok we're pretty lazy at the weekend but work long hours during the week and there's bigger all else to do) drinking massive cups of coffee and reading a book / the news / scrolling. Go for a longish walk. Have a late lunch/brunch, watch TV, nap, reading, bath, dinner wine and tv or film. Repeat. We're both pretty knackered after the working week but god this is getting boring now.

GnomeDePlume · 13/03/2021 18:59

Made low carb bagels this morning. Never made them before. Set some wine to ferment this afternoon. Going to the allotment tomorrow.

Not exactly rock and roll but this is what my life is like normally.

It's basically how I used to spend weekends pre-lockdown, but without any of the fun bits. Some food shopping, some cleaning, some gardening, some TV. No socialising, no going away to see friends, no going to the city to shop/see a play/exhibition, no long walks in the countryside. If the weather is shit, I may spend the entire weekend without talking to another human being in real life. If it isn't, I may have a chat or two with neighbours.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 13/03/2021 19:03

Being so bored I could cry. No energy for crafts, hobbies, housework etc as so fed up

Echobelly · 13/03/2021 19:03

Mostly domestic stuff - I volunteer every other Sunday so I get out of home borough and do a few hours driving hot meals back and forth.

Am really looking forward to doing things, but also appreciating my weekends were possibly a bit crowded before and should leave more quiet domestic ones!

SpnBaby1967 · 13/03/2021 19:03

Laundry, food shopping, over eating, drinking too much, lots of telly......rinse and repeat

loulouljh · 13/03/2021 19:04

Gardening. Walking dogs. Repeat. It is dull.
