AIBU to think DH's knobber friend parks like this deliberately?

He does this every time he pays us one of his glorious visits and I can't get into my own driveway. DH claims he doesn't do it deliberately. I call bullshit. I have attached a (badly-drawn) pic showing our street and the abundance of places he could park instead. There is a key at the top but basically he could park anywhere I have put a tick.*

*Some ticks may look aggressive and deformed.

YANBU, he is a twat.

I'd be calling DH from the car to say "tell your knobhead mate to move his car before I put something horrible under the door handles".

EmpressPenguin · 12/03/2021 08:34

Massive thumbs up for your diagram Smile

Pinkywoo · 12/03/2021 08:35

Plus A* for the diagram!

anxietyaunt · 12/03/2021 08:35

Haha. It's such a bad diagram! I drew it in fury. But thanks.

Mylovelyhorsee · 12/03/2021 08:37

Have you posted about this twat before??

ThighsofSteel · 12/03/2021 08:38

Either way I don't know why it wouldn't be solved by DH simply saying "DW will need to get in the drive soon, move the car along at bit."

I think it's quite normal for visitors to park across the drive of the house they're visiting, but it should be easily solved if it's a problem for you.

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/03/2021 08:38

Get the council to mark out a parking space on the tarmac with the words "knobbers only" painted on it.

kittykath · 12/03/2021 08:38

Brilliant! Why doesn't he just park on the driveway itself?

wizzywig · 12/03/2021 08:41

I feel you should ask to put 'trigger warning' in your title. The obviously angry ticks (I am interpreting it as being intimidating), could set someone off.
But re the friend, nothing wounds an ego like laughing loudly at their parking. Do it op! And also park your car where he does, see what he says

Hoppinggreen · 12/03/2021 08:43

As he walks through the door I would probably tell him to go and shift his car before he sits down.
Does he know that if you (presumably) have a dropped kerb he’s not allowed to park across it and could get a ticket

It's been a while since the knobber visited, but we've had the debate before and I'm always told he's not doing it deliberately. If that were the case he would remember what I said the last time he parked like that.

Really? I would never park blocking the drive of the house I was visiting, especially when there are plenty of other spaces (as evidenced by the aggressive ticks).

NewPapaGuinea · 12/03/2021 08:46

Assuming DH answers the door to him, he checks where he’s parked and asks him to move so he’s not blocking the drive. He’ll soon get the message.

I have posted about this twat before. He's an electrician who did some simple work on our house that seemed to take a looooooong time and a lot of crashed dinners in return for my husband doing some work for him, yet seemed to want to keep reminding me like I owed him. After that painful situation I made it clear to my husband I don't like the guy so he hasn't really been around. But now he's back. Like a bad smell...

I'm guessing because it's far more annoying for me if he blocks it entirely.

I love Knobbers car Grin. Is it the sort of car you'd expect a knobber to have?

That's actually a great idea! He's got a HUGE ego. And prides himself on being very manly. I suspect that would work!

We don't live in the sort of place where you could get a ticket. But we live in a street that's very quiet and has plentiful parking that doesn't block driveways!

I love my drawing of the knobber's car, but the car in reality is your typical mid-life crisis sleek, heavily-tinted, got-a-small-penis-but-trying-to-make-up-for-it-with-my-hot-wheels wankmobile.

This is the best diagram ever on MN!!

RunHobbitRun · 12/03/2021 08:56

Yes, but a frequent visitor like the knobber in question would know which cars belong to the family and can see if they're home or not.

If my friend's husband isn't home I won't park across their drive. If he is I might because if he's going out soon he or his wife/my friend can say straight away "Hobbit we'll be needing to get the car out"

It doesn't take much not to be a parking knob. @anxietyaunt I think he's doing it on purpose so he can make you look unreasonable to your husband and cause friction.

anxietyaunt · 12/03/2021 08:57

Me neither @Pinkywoo. I've never actually had a visitor park across my driveway before. Nor have I parked across anyone else's. It's freakin odd. But more than that I suspect it's a power move.

I posted about this guy before (see above) but he has also chucked lolly wrappers in the garden on his way through before. More disgustingly, he seems to piss on the floor next to the toilet. In a previous post someone mentioned electricians have form for this to "mark their territory" or something like that. Maybe they were right.
