Leavers hoodies timing - AIBU?

Totally first world problem here but just looking for an anonymous sense check.

We're in Scotland. Parent to a DC in P7 (final year of primary) at an independent school. He moved there in Aug 2019 so still getting settled into school customs, what with the interruption of Covid lockdowns and all.

Email arrives today to order leavers hoodies. Order closing date 4 May with a 3 week lead time on deliveries so presumably we will only get the hoodies at the start of June, so a month before the end of the school year. Not much time to wear them then.

Meantime the local school kids have them already, and most other schools I know of around here have them at least for the final term.

What is the spectrum of traditions with leavers hoodies? For how long in the final school year would you expect to have them? I am from abroad but even so we had a special blazer (!) we wore for the entire final year.

I'm surprised at those who have them a month or so before they leave.

Personally I'm glad they did not exist when I was at school, but understand if they raise funds for the school given the financial position many if not most are in.

We fundraise through the year (enterprise learning for the P7s) so that they can all get one, as otherwise most wouldn't be able to afford one.

They get delivered at some point after Easter usually, but only get handed out for the last week of term. They are a leaving present.

The P7s wear a different coloured school jumper throughout the year anyway.

Our school gets them for the start of p7, the kids wear them all year.

Our secondary in England get them on the last day. They are for home wearing not for school.

Towards the end of the summer term.

Wow, thanks for all the responses, folks, quite a spectrum then! To me it would have made sense to have them for the whole last term (transition and camp time). Thanks for the tip on ordering a size or two up. Mainly my DC can't wait and he loves a good hoodie Grin

Ours got them in the autumn before lockdown .... problem is DD has grown and it barely fits now! They were told to order the size they were at that time.... wish I’d ignored that and ordered up a size
