@AnExcellentWalker they probably are because they are on like 10 channels at the same time.

Apparently some are actually dangerous

Lastbonestanding · 12/03/2021 21:48

If you don't have enough surfaces for nibbles and drinks at a party drape a pretty duvet cover over an ironing board. 😆

Lovelydovey · 12/03/2021 21:52

If you don’t have any butter, use margarine and rip holes in your bread.

I actually did this once - not at a party but for all the trimmings at Christmas dinner. It worked a treat.
KitesFlyingInTheWind · 12/03/2021 22:21

When we were in college, we sent in tips to TaB and "problems" to Dear Deirdre to see who got published.
Alas! Mine never did. My friends Dear Deirdre did, can't remember what it was about now though.

KitesFlyingInTheWind · 12/03/2021 22:23

@Heatherjayne1972

It’s was the freeze a blob of toothpaste and use them as after dinner mints ! Gross and possibly dangerous
I'm just imaging sucking a (probably not very) nice mint and then it slowly turning to toothpaste in your mouth as you suck- gag!
Tigerlilynuj · 12/03/2021 23:11

This was my personal favourite. 🤣

The Viz top tips have been making me laugh since I was a kid.

I'm now 44 😂

190190tnt · 13/03/2021 00:05

Another Viz favourite: instead of spending money on an expensive doorbell, simply go to the door every 10 minutes to see if someone Is there.

@sparklesocks

Ha ha ha ha ha..........

An upturned bin lid makes a fantastic birdbath

Cheap cat litter makes an economic body scrub

(Both taken from magazines the "take a shite" page gets its content from)

OwlinaTree · 13/03/2021 09:33

I've spent ages reading the take a shite page, thank you. Particularly laughing at the psychic horse!

Ooh on the same lines there was one about take the glass domed insert from your old washing machine , makes a great fruitbowl

I thought about it when I scrapped my old WM but I couldn't fathom how to without giving myself a hernia , the base was curved so it wouldn't sit straight and most important , everyones dirty knickers hae been smooshing up against that glass .
Eurgh

This was from one of my Mums magazines , not Viz or TAB Grin

Jericha · 13/03/2021 12:35

@70isaLimitNotaTarget 😂😂 appetising!

CherryRipe1 · 13/03/2021 12:47

American 'Extreme Cheapskates' had myself and DD convulsing with laughter. There were so many hilarious people on it but one that stood out for us was Emily Watson's (?)Christmas dinner. From memory she sourced near to sell by date ground chicken & peices plus 8 turkey legs and sewed the lot together to resemble a monstrous 8 legged "Churkey'.

Loving this thread, thank you everyone. The Facebook page is brilliant.

I don’t have any handy tips as such but my DH did bring home the metal drum from an old washing machine last year (skip at work) with great plans to make a fire pit out of it. We already had a perfectly serviceable fire pit which is more aesthetically pleasing than a scorched metal drum. Hmm

@Carriecakes80

My partially deaf mate told me a tip once, never forgotten....always put your thumbs up while yawning so that any deaf folk around won't think you're screaming.

Its helped loads.

This has got me dying 😂🤣

binkyblinky · 13/03/2021 15:23

I saw a 'hack' of using one of those shower puffs in your hair if you can't afford a fascinator to wear at a wedding 🤣

HintOfVintagePink · 13/03/2021 16:01

Just spent an hour on the FB shite page. Laughed out loud more than once!

AndeanMountainCat · 18/03/2021 16:16

Can’t afford an expensive gravelled driveway? Glue Rice Krispies to your tyres instead.

Blerg · 18/03/2021 16:31

@Muncher75 and @klfahah those are hilarious!

I have a confession, I use one as a base container for my large yukka plant as the pot kept leaking everywhere. Tried to upload an image but unable.
