To be disappointed my lockdown mornings have been ruined?

So before anybody gets on there free speech high horse or takes this indepth with the whole Meghan Markle debaucle this is not what this is about so please refrain yourselves. I merely am soooo devestated that Piers will no longer be on the go in the mornings to entertain me with his carry-ons. It was the only reason I watched GMB. I am now tuned into boring Breakfast tv. I will never watch GMB again. It really took me away from the monotony of this lockdown and gave me a bit of excitement in my life. AIBU? Probaby but we all need something to keep us going!! I cant be the only one surely?? Free Piers Morgan!!!

I don't hate Piers Morgan. Most of his opinions I do not share, but I've always respected the fact that he gave them even when he knew it wouldn't make him popular.

But the constant vendetta against MM and Harry was getting bloody tedious and going too far. We get the point he doesn't like them, thinks they are hypocrits etc etc. I'm not a particular fan of either them OR the Royal Family. But I chose not to watch their interviews, read things written about them, I don't go out of my way to talk about them and give my opinion on them to anyone who will listen. He was taking it way too far, for someone who talks about the extreme left snowflakes being triggered by the tiniest everyday thing, the topic of MM seems very triggering for him. I feel sorry for his poor wife, I imagine its a constant topic at home as well as at work.

I am split over Piers Morgan.

On the on hand he's the only person on mainstream news who has held Matt Handcock and the rest of the Tories to account, on the other hand he's a bully and hates women.

Piers will be back, nothing will stop his motormouth and he's dam good for viewing figures.

How anybody with an ounce of intelligence can watch GMB is beyond belief quite frankly. Susanna Reid sold her soul to the devil the day she switched from BBC to ITV, must have been worth it for the money as it has done nothing for her credibility.

There is a long history of people loving controversy and gossip. Scandal sheets published hundreds of years ago, Hogarth’s engravings and the extremely embellished ghoulish stories printed and sold at public hangings. It’s nothing new.

He shouted at and talked over them. He asked misleading questions “isn’t it true you voted against pay rise for nurses” then as the interviewee tried to contextualise a quite nuanced issue, he cut them off “YES OR NO DID YOU DO THAT” and what viewers conclude is that person did what he said they did. And at no point did anything he shouted at MPs for, lead to any change in Government policy. He held nobody to account, he picked up populist talking points, tapped in to those who were angry with the way the government dealt with it and shouted about it to raise his own profile and get ratings for ITV.

Even this morning he is braying about audience numbers, shouting about free speech, and completely ignoring any part he’s played in any of the issues around Meghan or mental health.

He waffles on about free speech but walked off when someone challenged him. He blocks anyone on Twitter who dissents. He doesn’t let interviewees respond. He is full of shit and should have been taken off ITV years ago.

It's the same reason that posters flock to goady troll threads though, isn't it? Day's not fun if there's not a ruck happening somewhere.

I've never willingly watched Piers Morgan in anything. I don't watch breakfast tv ever... I do love an episode of Wentworth though. Boxsets are so much more entertaining than breakfast blowhards.

This is very true.

He faux'ed his way through presenting as if he had a mandate to be a bellowing twat, which he is. There was no substance to it as a debate or discussion generally involves more than one person and certainly, both need to have knowledge of the subject.

He's the voice of the knuckle-draggers who are missing that Kyle bloke.

Definitely. It's no secret, is it? Even if they feign 'sisterhood'.

I always quite liked him, pre pandemic that is. Always found him quite respectful to guests and l really enjoy Life Stories .
But recently he has been awful and l have to say to my daughter this is exactly how not to speak to people - rude, bullying and won't let people speak. Not what you say, it's the way you say it .
I think this will be the making of Susannah Reid.

I agree OP. He is off the mark sometimes, and could grate after a while. But he made it interesting and whilst I dont agree with everything that comes out of his mouth, sometimes I do and am so grateful that he is so passionate about it that it creates debate.

I only started watching in lockdown as well. Never had time to watch tv before. Didnt always agree with everything as believe it or not I do have a mind of my own however I do appreciate the way he he never backed down.
