Crusty end slices of bread...

...never get eaten in our household and languish in our fridge.

Any ideas what to do with them?
Hate the thought of throwing them away, such a waste of food.
We buy wholemeal (the mass produced kind, rather than artisan) and don’t own a food processor, if either makes a difference.

Not an AIBU but posting for traffic.

Thanks

I make croutons out of them then freeze them, which means I have croutons on hand v quickly as they don't take ages to defrost

Sliced bread - toast it like normal

Crusty bread- the 'heel' of the bread, eat it fresh and slather with butter.

Someone may have said make croutons. Olive oil, salt and pepper. 160. 10 mins even shake or turn over. Five mins done

I call them the crusty heel. Grin They're the best bit!

We always called them crusts. Unless they were spread with jam and folded in half. Then they were called nobbies. Mine you I only ever had them camping, and can't remember which relative called them nobbies so maybe they meant "crust" all along and I assumed a nobby was a jam crust sandwich Confused

Anyway. They are delicious toasted, but more often get fed to the birds/ducks/swans here.

And yes I know they said not to feed them bread. Then they said its ok as long as its not a lot. We also feed them seeds and other things.

Another vote for breadcrumbs

We just chuck them. I’m fully aware that it’s a waste but for the sake of a couple of pennies I’d rather be eating something I like rather than be chomping on something minging.
