Animals are not only sentient beings, but most are intelligent in some cases highly so.

Shouldn't we stop using phrases such as 'horseface', referring to people we consider ugly as 'dogs' and as this council leader called a Senedd member, a 'cow'.

@Advic3Pl3as3

What does insulting someone achieve though?
Letting them know they are being whatever they sre being. If someone is a dick, I will tell them🤷🏻
Oysterbabe · 07/03/2021 08:57

@Advic3Pl3as3

Why do we need to insult people at all?
Because some people are cunts.
Advic3Pl3as3 · 07/03/2021 08:57

You can do that without insulting them though.

In the case in point, it was probably a cheap way for a male politician to undermine a female politician. As noted upthread, quite a lot of these animal-based jibes are sexist.

PETA have suggested eat humble pie as an alternative to eat crow.
🤣🤣🤣

Humble pie is made with offal, it’s about as far from vegan as you can get.

I don't usually use animal insults. My go-to insult is "bellend". I don't eat animals. I'd rather call someone who's being a "bellend" a "cow" that eat a cow. It's eating and using them that's causing the problems, not using words they don't understand. This is why people get pissed off with vegans. We end up looking like... bellends will all this bullshit (I respect bulls and their shit).

Is this another one where someone’s woke sensibilities are offended. But hey we live in a world where calling out to a group by saying ‘ladies and gentlemen’ offends people as it’s not inclusive, and there is someone there who identifies as a pink unicorn or a doorstop.

midnightstar66 · 07/03/2021 09:19

What about calling animals human insults. Is it ok to call the pony a little arsehole when I've spent half an hour trying to catch him or when he's whipped round and ditched dd again.

I think that term is mammal specific not human, so you're ok.
randomer · 07/03/2021 09:23

What about parents who scream little bitch or little fucker at their children? Slightly more concerning than animal names.

likeamillpond · 07/03/2021 09:27

@lidoshuffle

You want to hear what they call us.

That's true, I needed a different example maybe.

Don't most living creatures have arseholes? Fish have (and can be) arseholes too

daisychain01 · 07/03/2021 09:32

You're all lemmings.

And sheep.

And you go at snail's pace.

And phwaaaar, you've got dog breathe

I'm not sure a cloaca (birds and reptiles) is exactly an 'arsehole'. But I'm probably being too pedantic.

Oysterbabe · 07/03/2021 09:34

There's so many and it's so common that it won't stop. Peta are really feeding a fed horse with this one.

Squeakerfoot · 07/03/2021 09:35

What about calling someone a (silver) fox as a compliment. Is that ok? Wink
