Animals are not only sentient beings, but most are intelligent in some cases highly so.

Shouldn't we stop using phrases such as 'horseface', referring to people we consider ugly as 'dogs' and as this council leader called a Senedd member, a 'cow'.

Do you think op

that using insulting terms/names to refer to people we dislike intensely for what their personality (character is like /or for what they have that society does not like (judges people on ect !

Having this kind of attitude, comparing animals to the unsavoury Arseholes people on this Planet earth.

Affects how we as humans/think/react /feel ect about Animals

And this is the main potent (Powerful reason why people mistreat animals in such a bad way at times op!

Animal Cruelty !

What we say speaks volumes why animal cruelty persists so often in different societies and different cultures !

Words are so powerful aren't they !

They reflect /and have impact on our Actions

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/03/2021 04:25

Oops I ment to say to say using insulting animals names in references to what nasty (unsavory people do in life ,that society judges them on,

Then this attitude reflects our inner thoughts/perceptions about animals and can unconsciously and consciously reflect how society thinks/treats animals and this can creat the envoriment for Animal Cruelty Acts to occur happen in ways that people can often be oblivious to this !

As some people can forget that we are not that Much different from animals !
As we are part of Nature just like animals too.

We come into world through Nature ,such as through Mating (natural sex selection!

And also we breed reproduction like animals

We die like animals !

We have feelings /,thought procces just like animals do aswell such as nuturing/protecting our young for e.g

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/03/2021 04:27

Yes I get your point op

I do !

Thought provoking deep stuff post thread op

stampsurprise · 07/03/2021 04:30

I think I see what you mean.

Using. animals as insults devalues them.

Hindus, for instance, would never use “cow” as an insult as it is a sacred creature in their eyes. However, we treat cows with cruelty and abuse.

stampsurprise · 07/03/2021 04:31

I agree - we are part of the animal kingdom.

Animals are intelligent, this is true. However, when they produce great art, come up with a great scientific breakthrough, stand for parliament, write poetry or great literature, indeed show any sign of abstract thought, I will worry about them being hurt by a verbal insult. Animals definitely read human body language, tone of voice etc, but they don’t understand too many words as such. Only short sentences that they hear often, and know how to respond, like “get off the couch dog”. I think animal intelligence really manifests in being skilled at surviving the challenges they face and using their skills, eg. dog using sense of smell, cat using vicious bastardry to get by in this world.

Unless you are speaking in woof, meow or moo the animals won't even know.🐕🐈🐄

Wow, great trolling! I give this a 9/10 😂

You say "highly" but on what scale is that?

Earth worm human.

Is there really an animal even 10% as intelligent as a human?

Oh I love old fashioned trolling, the game of seeing how far you could be a wum before people twigged and you we called out on it. It's a lost art.

I hated it when insults and threats came to be called trolling.

CounsellorTroi · 07/03/2021 06:50

Georgyporky
I object to "cunt" being used as an insult, when "willy" is not.
Dick, knob, and bell-end are all insults.

As is prick.

peak2021 · 07/03/2021 06:56

@Sapho47 I'd say dogs, dolphins, horses easily pass the 10% threshold, as examples.

@Oysterbabe interesting I was unaware of this aspect of PETAs campaigning.

Oh dear, I call my dog a silly little monkey if she does something daft Hmm Am I insulting her or the monkey? All I know for sure is that she looks at me and wags her tail before getting a cuddle so I think my tone of voice has more effect than the words I've used....

FuckingHateRats · 07/03/2021 07:24

Earthworms are actually some of the most important species on our planet. They maintain vital ecosystems and are responsible for the production of almost all the food we eat. On the contrary, humans have destroyed thousands of habitats and wiped out entire species.

This is hilarious. I particularly like the "feed a fed horse" as trying to make something happen that has no chance. Horses eat allllllll day Grin you have every chance of feeding a fed horse. Infact the greedy sods would probably have your hand off (don't worry op no horses were around to hear the insult Wink)

fuckinghaterats brilliant user name for this thread!
My chooks are really clever def use more that 10% of human brain!
My dog does have vile breath (after stealing eating cat food) so telling my dh has dog breath is neither insulting to the dog or dh it's just a factGrin

Chewingle · 07/03/2021 08:36

You are interpreting “horse face” and to describe someone as ugly as a “dog” as insulting.

Perhaps “horse face” is attractive and as ugly as a “dog” means not ugly at all.

Your interpretation!

FuckingHateRats · 07/03/2021 08:38

Hahaha I didn't even click 🤣 It's a name from YEARS ago when they tried to come live in our house.

Rats are capable of metacognitive thought btw. That's something many humans I know struggle with!

Advic3Pl3as3 · 07/03/2021 08:48

Why do we need to insult people at all?
