Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

I have an excellent sense of direction and don’t really ever get lost.

This would be beyond life-changing for me. Trying to get somewhere involves an enormous amount of planning, no matter whether or not I've been there before. I have an absurdly good memory for things I've seen but nothing to indicate if it's because in the right direction or not as I get so very lost that I explore a lot of 'wrong ways'. I go everywhere while dealing the need to reassure myself all the time that I will get there and on time.

Creamcakeandrhinos · 06/03/2021 09:47

AdaFuckingShelby
I'm really good at parallel parking wink

That’s not an underwhelming skill that’s awesome

52andblue · 06/03/2021 09:49

I can sense when people are being deceitful and IF to the genuine detriment of others I find it very hard not to call them out on it. If they then further lie / deceive the temptation is to forensically take them apart. Useful if I were a Barrister. Not so much in my personal life.

PurrBox · 06/03/2021 09:49

I can give pills to cats

dottiedodah · 06/03/2021 09:52

I can speed read and take it in .Plus can remember whole episodes of the Good Life word for bloody word! My DGM made the same fruit cake for years and never weighed any ingriednants out! (Didnt have any scales when married in the 30s you see) .Also remember whole conversations as well from yonks ago!

Fuhfeuucdr · 06/03/2021 09:53

I know my times tables off by heart. My DS is in awe of this skill.

Loudhouse · 06/03/2021 09:53

@SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge

Christ these are like some ninja level skills. Folding a fitted sheet, this is impossible!!!!!
GrinThere is actually a method. I’m such a sad bastard I looked it up on YouTube and taught myself!

Also able to hang a picture or shelf perfectly straight without a spirit level. Plus the magical time telling thing. Never owned a watch.

dottiedodah · 06/03/2021 09:56

Dogs love me ,and small children! Once had a little boy run over from his family for a cuddle by me.Many dogs throw themselves at me! Dangerous animal magnetisim or just a soft touch?

Musmerian · 06/03/2021 09:57

I can mark essays at super speed.

GuyFawkesDay · 06/03/2021 09:58

Am known as the homing pigeon by DH. Sense of direction and map reading. I just "know" when I'm not on the right place or going the right way. It's weird.

Song lyrics. I can't remember where I put my keys or what I'm doing at work but if you want lyrics to eleventy billion songs, I'm your girl.

Also a very good parallel parker. Driving instructor flabbergasted as my turn in the road was not good. Luckily the parking came up on the test.

SerafinaPekkala · 06/03/2021 09:59

I can tell which way is North.
I can navigate around new towns and cities without getting lost - i just know where I am relative to where I started.
I can catch unexpected things (my best was throwing my left hand out behind my head to intercept a blob of ketchup launched by one of my nephews just as it was about to hit the curtain)

dottiedodah · 06/03/2021 10:00

Bonbonours Impressive skill by DH there .Needs to be careful though as coating from tablets can get stuck in throat .Usually safer to take with plenty of water I think

Crikeycroc · 06/03/2021 10:03

I have lovely handwriting.

ChancesWhatChances · 06/03/2021 10:05

@Crikeycroc that’s the most underrated skill of the lot, but one that I value most. I hate trying to read messy handwriting!

WackyDuck · 06/03/2021 10:07

When anything is broken, my mind goes on overdrive to find random things of the right size and shape to fix them.

I'm good at replicating things, so if I see something I like, I can make it myself. I'm sure I could have been a master forger.

I'm good at spotting UK regional accents, and I used to start to mimic people when talking to them for a few minutes. I have learnt to stop myself from doing this as it sounded like I was taking the pee.

I fold empty crisp packets into triangles.

Undervaluedandsad · 06/03/2021 10:11

@Mummadeze

I mentally calculate my shopping bill as I place everything on the conveyor belt and usually get it right within a few pence. It always makes me feel ridiculously proud but I have never told anyone before!
This! I count on my fingers - totally in awe.

I have no overwhelming or underwhelming skills whatsoever. May be the time thing but I think I’ve taught myself that at work.

HerMammy · 06/03/2021 10:11

I’m a time teller too, can tell you the time and can tell myself a time at night ; 6.45am and I’ll wake at that time.
First attempt parallel parker.
Any baby I’ve held falls asleep; skill or I’m boring? 🤣

Lemonyfuckit · 06/03/2021 10:13

I make fantastic scrambled eggs, can pour equal measures of wine out without crouching down to check the levels are equal and I'm excellent at steering and manoeuvring boats.

Gunpowder · 06/03/2021 10:13

Quite jealous of some of these skills.

Lemonyfuckit · 06/03/2021 10:14

Oh and I'm surprisingly good at archery despite only having done it a couple of times.

IsAnybodyListening · 06/03/2021 10:15

Me to for telling the time! It has become a bit of a thing in my family, so I generally get 'tested' a lot 'Mum, what time is it?' Me-1.48? Family 'HOW DID YOU KNOW!'

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 06/03/2021 10:15

I have a really good memory (used to love a pub quiz) and I can read stupidly fast. I can also type fairly fast but only use two fingers. Drives DH mad to watch. He has a terrible memory for faces but can remember what car everyone we know drives, even if he's only seen it once.

Oh, and I know how to make dogs all look the same way for a photo, it used to be helpful for an old job, but officially is now my most useless skill Grin

afaloren · 06/03/2021 10:21

I can identify where I’ve seen random bit-part actors before, even if it was only for a moment ten years ago.

BeautifulandWilfulandDead · 06/03/2021 10:21

Terrible at reading maps and I can get lost two minutes away from home, but I am also a very fast reader, I'm excellent at putting up tents and I can paint very straight edges freehand with a decent paintbrush. Grin

Rosiesmydog · 06/03/2021 10:23

I can do the splits with my fingers and I can bend my thumb back to touch my wrist
