To not want to book bestival

My husband and I have just massively fallen out and I don't know who's more right....
So he's a hospital manager, has had his jab and has seen covid 1st hand as he's been in work every day! I have been locked up at home with a 4 yr old who's only just gone back to nursery. He wants to book Bestival tickets for this year in July/August! 🤔 We are in full lockdown currently with no sign of restriction lifting in Wales anytime soon..... And just the thought of going CAMPING with a virus in a pandemic where the toilets are plastic vile boxes with a 4 year old makes me start to shake! The thought. Disgusts me I can't believe he even suggested it and he's got mad saying he's worked all year with no breaks and needs a holiday..... I think surviving is more important than sitting in a flimsy fabric tent with the virus wooshing past our heads!!! Am I being unreasonable??

If it wasn’t for covid would you happily go?

Mumof3girlygirls · 04/03/2021 19:12

Possibly I would have given in if we were not in the middle of covid ..... I wouldn't have been happy

He goes to Bestival and you go somewhere with friends whilst he looks after DD??

Ileflottante · 04/03/2021 19:17

Is it more that you’d rather hate going to a festival? I can’t imagine ‘shaking’ at the idea of it.

ohwaitthatwasme · 04/03/2021 19:18

You are massively over reacting to be disgusted with your DH suggesting you go to a festival.

Personally I am of the opinion now that if an event is happening I am going.

Builtthiscityontoiletrolls · 04/03/2021 19:20

Totally overreacting

Haggisfish · 04/03/2021 19:22

I’d let him go but wouldn’t go myself, if I felt as you do. Personally I’ll be going to as much as I can this summer!

DavidsSchitt · 04/03/2021 19:23

We're not "in the middle of COVID". We're near the end where most adults will have been vaccinated.

He wants a break and quite right too, can you compromise and book something to suit you both? Or take a she-wee with you?

Can't imagine shaking, feeling disgusted or imagining at this point that the virus whooshes past heads Confused

Aprilx · 04/03/2021 19:23

Reasonable that he wants a holiday, lots of people do, why not come up with something else that you would both enjoy. I don’t understand the drama.

Ileflottante · 04/03/2021 19:24

You think the virus will be ‘whooshing past’ your head? Confused

Gizlotsmum · 04/03/2021 19:28

Ok so in reality you won’t get covid from the toilets (use hand sanitiser etc) the virus can’t survive in sewage so that isn’t a risk. It will be open air so again minimal risk. However if you don’t want to go can you suggest an alternative break or let him go with friends?

Biker47 · 04/03/2021 19:33

I'd be going to Download Festival in June this year if it was allowed, past giving a fuck now. Have to wait till next year now.

Actually, the virus is passed on via faeces.

Fresh air good, dirty loos bad.

HelloThereMeHearties · 04/03/2021 19:37

That's why the Chinese are now doing anal swabs Confused

Gizlotsmum · 04/03/2021 19:39

Is it? Not what we have been told in work must be short lived or fresh faeces

DaisyDreaming · 04/03/2021 19:40

I wouldn’t want to go either but I’d there anything you can do to reduce risk? My friend takes a camping toilet with her and a tent when they go to the beach to avoid having to use public ones although not so nice if you need more than a wee! I wouldn’t book myself but I know a lot of people would

Gizlotsmum · 04/03/2021 19:40

Actually it can be used as an early sign of an infected population but is not active in sewage

DaisyDreaming · 04/03/2021 19:41

I’m sorry people are giving you a hard time on here. As a shielder I get it but lots of people are past caring or worrying about covid

WetJan · 04/03/2021 19:42

I work in a hospital too OP. I have booked a CAMPING holiday and would go to Bestival/Camp Bestival like a bloody shot... except it's well out of price range for a lowly band 6 nurse. Grin

GreenSlide · 04/03/2021 19:44

I wouldn't book it either but only because it's still a bit iffy if any big events will be allowed to go ahead this summer.

Dkfhenzkghsm · 04/03/2021 19:46

That's not my idea of a holiday.

HelloThereMeHearties · 04/03/2021 19:48

Which is exactly what you'll be surrounded by in one of the lovely loos Hmm in Camp Bestival Smile
HelloThereMeHearties · 04/03/2021 19:49

We've all been told to keep the lid down when we flush, to prevent faecal shedding. Surprised you didn't know that, being medical!

HelloThereMeHearties · 04/03/2021 19:51

The problem with that is that Camp Bestival is big. And you spend most of the day a long way from your tent, using the lovely Hmm communal Portaloos.
HelloThereMeHearties · 04/03/2021 19:52

So, having been to Camp Bestival a couple of times, I can see both of your sides here. Maybe you could compromise? How about going to Eweleaze Farm?
