To think this was a bit unkind?

Friend has just moved into a gated road. I walked round there earlier to drop something off to her house. The gate was locked and I could not work out how to get in. I pressed the number of her apartment but nothing happened. So I called her and she came out to do it and seemed a bit annoyed.
As I went to go home, I couldn't get back out again and this time my friend rolled her eyes and said she didn't know why it was so hard for me to do. I said I was not used to gates like this and she didn't say anything, just said a curt farewell and went home.
She left me feeling really stupid. Can't help but think it was unkind.

There are some massive leaps being made here! 🤣🤣🤣

Some of you have pretty low standards if you think a security gate = moving up in the world so much that a friend automatically becomes an unwanted pleb!

@LemonSherbetFancies she wanted books for research but did she know you were coming at that time?

Sounds like you’re feeling silly after your visit to both your sister and your friend, so are you being sensitive?

You know her. We don’t.

Is she the type to be annoyed and think your thick or is it possible she was frustrated with the gate and in the middle of moving/working?

@LemonSherbetFancies

I am guessing I was meant to put in her door number and she had to buzz me through but I tried that and nothing happened. I had trouble with my sisters flat the other month so must just me that's a bit dim. Sad
I wouldn't bother going round there again

Did you get a Thank You?

mainsfed · 04/03/2021 13:21

I would text her that you need the books back unexpectedly. She’s an ungrateful twat.

funinthesun19 · 04/03/2021 13:31

She probably thinks she’s awesome because she lives on a gated road and the cockiness is all part of that.

WithIcePlease · 04/03/2021 13:36

I hope she's not much of an online shopper....
Rude

therealteamdebbie · 04/03/2021 13:45

she wanted me to bring round some books she was needing in order to carry out some research for her work.

Confused

and that's all the thanks you got? She was rude, and ensured that you will never be doing her a favour again. So who do you think is stupid here?

Justkeeprollingalong · 04/03/2021 14:03

@littlepattilou

YANBU. You have to be a bit of an obnoxious oik to live in a gated community anyway.

Ghost her, and move on.

Bit of a sweeping statement?
VeganVeal · 04/03/2021 14:06

Gates can be difficult

Youllbeoldertoo · 04/03/2021 14:18

If this was me and my friends we would be laughing if one of us couldn’t figure out the gate!

DoubleTweenQueen · 04/03/2021 14:54

@LemonSherbetFancies It's really not you. Gates can be a pita and temperamental.

You were lovely to take the rude person the books

Hidinginstaircupboard · 04/03/2021 16:33

Oh LemonsherbertFancies so she was kind of expecting you and did an eye roll that you couldn't operate the gate?

Bit rude of her , eye rolling a friend who has done you a favour isn't nice.
But I wouldn't take it as you being stupid. Really unless she's shown you multiple times over 6 months and everyone else can operate the gate and you can't, then it's likely to be a glitch or learning the technique. Sometimes it's kinder to your self esteem to just say in your head that she was having a bad (impatient) day
