AIBU to think this is ridiculous?

Absolutely accepted .... if I knacker my knees again I may have to join you.
But I'm betting your 17km walk took rather longer than my 6km run and was less strenuous on your heart.

Yes it did. These days, that’s part of the pleasure though - or would be if I didn’t have to walk the same route every - bloody - day 🤪

@MrBullinaChinaShop

My time keeping is awful, I often have to break into a jog on what started as a civilised walk Blush
Other times I purposely go for a run (and dress accordingly - and the only "tech I have is my watch!)

@Winesalot

Maybe because MN is trying to encourage civil debate.
There was nothing civil about the post I replied to. It completely misrepresented my posting history on this thread and I felt insulted by it. My reply was much more considerate than the pp deserved, IMO. And that was the original one.

If people want to be prats on threads and be aggressive to pps with misrepresenting posts about those pps they deserve to be called out on it. Sometimes they get the short less patient version.

Curiously, no apology so far for the misrepresentation of my posts. Or acknowledgement that I have nowhere here judged runners, on the contrary, have defended them.

TheJerkStore · 05/03/2021 09:17

Most joggers are walkers and drivers too. If someone's breathing over you when you're minding your own business walking it's because they're a prat, not because they're a jogger.

Exactly this.

Winesalot · 05/03/2021 10:11

Having been deleted several times this month with punishment for posts I would not have thought crossed anywhere near the line already, Lweji you have my sympathies. I am merely pointing out some new directions on this forum.

** and I agree that a forum who posts its guidelines has every right to apply those guidelines how they see fit to those who choose to use it. Of course.

Fembot123 · 05/03/2021 11:38

It’s happened to me too, deleted but with zero personal attacks, seems like they are deleting anything reported 😂

GreenlandTheMovie · 05/03/2021 11:46

I had a typical interaction yesterday with a dog walker while out running yesterday. He had 3 dogs, all off the lead, had plenty of time to see me coming and get them under control. One of the dogs snarled and ran at me and I asked him if his dog bit (I'm nervous, as I have been bitten while running). He was wearing headphones so by the time he removed them I was already past and he asked me to repeat myself. He then said, sarcastically, "well you can see they didn't do anything to you". I was equally sarcastic back. No harm done but not the most pleasant experience. Social distancing observed at all times though.

Is mumsnet deleting the posts of posters who respond to deliberately goady ones reporting them again? I ws sure I was going to get banned on a thread full of posters but hung at anyone who suggested that women had the right to choose whom they found srcually attractive. But I survive this far!

Reporting back from my run.

I waved to the postman on the other side of the road.
I nodded a hello to two mothers with their small children who were chatting on the very wide pavement.
I nodded a hello to three men coming down a path off the fields.
I gave a wave of thanks to the cars that gave me a wide berth and a sotto voca up yours to those who didn't
I waved to an elderly lady on a farm.
I had to stop once as I emerged from a track back to the road as there was a car coming just as I needed to cross.

I didn't huff or puff, spit, cough, sneeze or lick anyone.

Oh and I wore my new bamboo top.

Anyone want some endorphins?

MummyJ12 · 05/03/2021 14:57

Lweji, you posted a study regarding the impact on performance of people wearing of masks whilst running.
I pointed out that there were exceptions to this and these were also noted in the study.

You stated in one post;
“If they are running in a group, close together, then it is a good idea for all of them to wear masks.”

Then in another you posted;
“Again, the exception that shows that then masks should not be worn by everybody.

For every rule there are exceptions. We know.

Except that in the UK everyone seems to be an exception”

These posts aren’t defending runners and you were not stating that they do not need to wear masks.

You’re obviously angry that I wasn’t agreeing with you at this point in the thread. I was trying to point out that for a lot of people (who, like me are actually terrible at running at the best of times!) it’s about keeping healthy and it being enjoyable. It’s definitely not about the performance for me so the study was largely irrelevant with regards to what people like me were posting.

I did note you posted later about not being in favour of runners wearing masks, so I’m not sure what you were aiming to achieve with the previous posts? It seemed contradictory to me.

References to drug taking and calling people prats is definitely offensive, and really not necessary.

I hope I have put myself across a little better in this post! Sometimes, you just have to agree to disagree, it’s all part of being on MN and adding to the conversation. It’s all I’m going to say on the matter, so take care Lweji and maybe see you on another thread where hopefully it won’t be as hostile.
Here’s some flowers for no hard feelings! Flowers

If you think that is obvious, I rest my case about my opinion about your posts.
I don't get angry with people who simply disagree.

I get frustrated with people who misrepresent posts.
