AIBU to think this is ridiculous?

OP posts:

He wouldn't understand running as has probably never run anywhere in his life and is so out of shape he's insanely jealous and full of resentment. What a twat. So it'd be much better with gyms shut and most outside sports banned- to just let half the nation get more obese and more in need of ventilators in hospitals when they catch Covid- right?

MaddieElla · 03/03/2021 18:02

I'm afraid you can only get a strava crown by sweating, ponding and puffing. Sad

Whatever9999 · 03/03/2021 18:03

@LucieStar

Aww now I want a Strava crown. How does one get that? Grin
Run a strava segment faster than anyone else. A short, downhill segment is usually easiest. Mine are all where I've been doing sprints. Just getting in top 10 gets you a trophy, most of mine have surprised me, because it didn't feel like I was putting much effort in at the time

And producing a positive Covid swab plus jabbing pedestrians out of the way with said swab.
Fembot123 · 03/03/2021 18:05

Strava crowns can be upsetting when some kid comes along and nicks yours 😁

LucieStar · 03/03/2021 18:06

Ohhh you have to run the segment faster than others, I get it now. Eeek that's a challenge then

@MaddieElla @Fembot123 😂😂

MaddieElla · 03/03/2021 18:07

Yes, usually someone from out of town that's been paced by Mo Farah and just visiting for the weekend. Angry

LucieStar · 03/03/2021 18:07

I think I will only get a crown on the downhills 😂

exhausteddog · 03/03/2021 18:09

Longer segments are good to try , or find somewhere where not as many fast people live. Grin I have a couple of crowns near my relatives house and one that I have my eye on to try when lockdown is over and we can visit again (don't judge my priorities, obviously i'm looking forward to seeing the relatives as well!!)

Even more annoying when someone who averages 15min/mile nicks yours due to a GPS glitch which means they apparently did
Robintakeover · 03/03/2021 18:22

I’ve just realised I got a trophy on a segment today too ... I’d not made the connection thanks Piers

itsgettingwierd · 03/03/2021 18:39

@Pennycrown

He didn't wear a mask whilst he was out for a walk with Simon Cowell
He didn't even social distance Hmm
Peppermintpatty24 · 03/03/2021 18:51

Last week as myself and my partner turned a corner, a female jogger ran right into him to the point where they almost could have kissed. I turned to him and said "she should be wearing a mask", what if she had CV19. He said "I agree, I literally felt her breath on my face".

Ifeelsuchafool · 03/03/2021 18:54

I think there are unconsiderate people in all groups of, "outdoor exercisers".
I have taken to walking 6-8 miles per day in an effort to get my weight and type 2 diabetes under control and, hopefully, get myself out of the CEV catagory into which my GP placed me which has resulted in me being furloughed for much of the last year. It's working and I'm lucky to live in the country but whereas I always carry a mask to put on if I pass someone on a narrow lane and don't block anyone's path if I can help it, I've been held up by walkers having a conversation from either side of the lane making it impossible to pass without getting too close, literally elbowed out of the way by a runner coming up behind me and overtaking on a very narrow lane, and accosted by a dog let off its lead and allowed to roam yards away from its owner, deep in conversation with a companion as they ambled along.
Some people are so self absorbed it's untrue.

TwinkleToesForever · 03/03/2021 18:55

I never thought I’d say I agree with Piers Morgan but on this I couldn’t agree more! I am utterly sick of ‘run-titled’ people breathing all over me in our local park and getting angry if you dare to cross their path! So many selfish, space grabbing, huffing and puffing idiots.

Well your partner could have covid, so perhaps himself should have been wearing a mask - and presumably yourself didn't go round the corner single file.

Anyway the anti-runners on here will be delighted by this statement: www.kent.ac.uk/news/covid19/28028/expert-comment-will-runners-wearing-face-masks-outside-reduce-covid-19-transmission

Bertiebiscuit · 03/03/2021 19:03

I agree with Piers - I spend my life trying to dodge sweaty snorting spitting joggers in my park - they are really careless

You lot are making this up.

poppycat10 · 03/03/2021 19:05

Some people are so self absorbed it's untrue this is certainly true. You forgot to mention the gradual increase in people with their foreheads glued to their mobile phone screens again.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 03/03/2021 19:06

Piers Morgan wants burying in a very deep holeGrin

Apologies - poor grammar - I'd like Piers Morgan to be buried in a very deep hole.

jules0607 · 03/03/2021 19:09

Don’t run up behind people, keep 5m away. Too many runners in parks breathing hard & fast & too close & not capable of keeping a reasonable distance - can’t do that then need a mask.

LucieStar · 03/03/2021 19:10

This is so funny. Grin
The same would have happened if both parties had been walking around a corner simultaneously too, surely? I don't think the fact that she was a runner has any relevance.

MaddieElla · 03/03/2021 19:14

Well this is entertaining to say the least.

LucieStar · 03/03/2021 19:20

I want to thank the OP from the bottom of my heart for this thread. I haven't laughed so much in a while. Grin
